       Eyes widen with a hard swallow. Oh he said too much and of course the wrong thing. Typical day for Sam Alexander. How could he even explain ‘oh yeah I don’t look it but I put on a helmet and fight crime every day’. Yeah, no. Not again. 

       “Bullies. At school.” yeah, good cover. Make yourself seem like a huge wimp. “Which…” now that he thought about what time was–8:34 AM. Panic shot through his muscles and drove him forward. “Sorry!! Gotta go!! Nice meeting you!!” he took off like a rocket, of course forgetting his bag. But it was too late to think about that. Not like it was a though in his mind.

       He’d realize later when something attacked that he’d basically left his super powers behind in a bag.

Gwen watched him go, racing off - and if life were a cartoon she’d have sworn his legs would have span for ages leaving a trail of dust before he jetted forwards. An amused smile played on her features, and she almost laughed before keeping it in. A nice guy, but a little strange. Not like she could say anything. Who was weirder than her?

It was as she was starting to leave that she noticed the bag. He’d probably be needing that, huh? What was it, a school bag or something? Gwen lifted it up, glancing over it before realising she really had no idea where to return it. She frowned gently, then looked quickly through the front pocket in the hopes of finding something that could tell her more. Like where he went to school for instance?

What was in the bad was... weird. What was he? Like a cosplayer? She shrugged it off, her focus mainly on finding out where to give it back. A school book in one pocket gave her the name and she headed off to return it as quickly as possible. Of course.... she got side-tracked along the way (the Vulture chose the worst times to appear), and it wasn’t until later in the day that she made it as school was letting out. Standing around aimlessly, she tried to find Sam.  But when he didn’t appear, she gave a groan and moved down the street still watching out for him - and that was when she heard the fighting. The Vulture, again? It sounded like him.

And with that, Gwen was quick to suit up, taking the bag with her again, as she changed in the nearest alley (thank god for keeping the suit under her clothes), and then raced off to drive the Vulture away. Sam wasn’t ever getting this bag back.

         To say Gwen and Peter had history would be an UNDERSTATEMENT.    There had BEEN so much between the two.          Whether it was his original Gwen, a close-replica of Gwen, or Spider-Gwen,                                        it was defiantly unexpected season to see her AGAIN.     He wasn’t sure how to handle the situation first,          throwing glimpses of his awkward COLORS solely with his body language.       Through his eyes,    it seem’d she  w a n t e d  their encounter to be the least uncomfortableas possible.                         —As did Peter.                                                                            ❝ …Gwen. Uh- What’re yo- .. Oh, I’m.❜❜      He STRUGGLED at first to respond to the blonde,                                                                          promptly clearing his throat.                                                    Peter, relax.                          ❝ Um, you think so?          I feel like I could do without the dark under eyes and the student LOANS,                                                 but yeah, I  g u e s s  I grew some.❜❜                                                                                                                                     He joked.                                                   ❝ How’ve you been, Gwen? —You also look… healthy?❜❜

She was glad she wasn’t the only one surprised that their paths had crossed once again. Of course, Gwen had always known it was a possibility with her travels. How could Pete have known what she was up to.

A soft smile passed across her features, a touch amused as he spoke. The smile grew, and she gave a little shrug as he finished up.

    “What can I say?               I work out a lot. Glad I look healthy, that’s what               I aim for.”

She ran a hand through her hair, glancing over Peter once more and trying to remain relaxed. Though Gwen had been somewhat prepared for meeting him again at some point, now he was before her... Well, she just didn’t want this to trn out awkward, but what was there to say that was normal? How did normal conversations go again?

     “It’s been a while. I kind of...               I’ve been working with Jess. Not always because               we wanted to. A lot has happened. But it’s...

                       It’s good to see you Peter. 

      I’ve been alright, but busy.               How about you?”

       A flush flicked on his cheeks, lips turning up in a grin. A hand idly found itself tangled in his mess of raven hair. Now that everything had slowed down Sam got a good luck at the girl and just…wow. A fighter and she was super pretty. And complementing him! 

       “Hehe, you saw that?” of course she did, she was right there. “It was nothing. I fight like…” cool it Sam. A hum to shake and turn the sentence. “I mean, I deal with jerk like that all the time. Nothing new.”

She gave a slight laugh, biting her bottom lip to keep it in. “I did, yeah. And considering they’re now no longer attacking us, that speaks for itself, doesn’t it?” Gwen did wonder where he had learnt to fight, how he had coped so well. She wasn’t complaining, his interference had helped her keep her cover. And stopped her getting hit, which was nice.

“All.. all the time?” She arched a brow, looking at him curiously. Didn’t seem like the fighting type. “Uh, you go about saving damsels in distress a lot or--” Now beating up people was kind of her deal, so everyday wouldn’t be an exaggeration for her. But why would he be in such a position? Perhaps it wasn’t her place to ask. “Well, it pays off. So thanks.” Gwen picked up her back-pack, swing a strap over one shoulder and getting ready to leave the alley and its goons behind.

       He didn’t mean to jump in. But helmet with him or not he couldn’t just walk by and have this girl get attacked. What he didn’t expect was her to fight back. To punch like that. Now if he could pick his jaw off the floor and learn what words are…how do you talk to a pretty girl again?

       “Uhh…” yeah something like that. A soft cough, to clear his throat and shake up some vocabulary. “Yeah. Yeah, hey are you okay? I mean did they get any licks in?” as if. She was moving pretty quick.

She dusted herself off, looking about them for a moment before turning back to the guy as he spoke. For a second, Gwen was caught of guard for a second - then it sank in, again, that she wasn’t in costume. Made sense for people to worry or be concerned.

Gwen sent him a slight grin and gave a half shrug. “I got pretty lucky. Maybe a hit landed but I’m fine. Cross my heart.” She glanced quickly over him in turn, assessing whether he was hurt. “You okay? I mean, that was impressive. Bet they didn’t know what hit them.”

Gwen is so glad she can hide underneath her mask. Her webbing was solid, it was perfect but... Webbing could tear over time. And that webbing backpack she’d made quickly after forgetting her actual backpack had failed. But it had failed with style.

So far on her travels with Cindy and Jess, she’d avoided any confrontation or meetings with her universe counter-part. It just seemed easier for both if she kept to herself, there were too many bad or sad memories that could distract them. Too many things she had left unsaid to her Peter. Still, life liked to mess things up and on a simple grocery trip of all things she had stumbled across him.

“Uh, hey Pete. Lookin’ good, you style your hair differently? Gotten taller or--?” Abort, abort mission, get the hell out.

“Frack...”

The blonde was tired, and sore, with the world suddenly seeming to spin around her. Her web-shooters were always running out these days, and at the worst possible moments. She had to look into it. Maybe see if Janet could upgrade them, or if one of the Fantastic lot could do something about it. Maybe she needed an ammo belt, filled with pellets for her webbing. Something cool. Gwen struggled to her feet, glad she had at least landed in a back-alley where no one would have witnessed the fall.

She sucked in a deep breath, ignoring her aches and pains and-- A sound caught her attention, and she sensed someone near by. So down went the mask again, and the young vigilante prepared herself for any sign of trouble.

“All I’m saying is, thanks for the help, but I had it under control.”

Okay, Gwen rather wished she was in costume right now, with a mask to hide her face and front to withhold. She appreciated his help, no doubt about it. But she rather wished he hadn’t seen her punch someone out like that. Nineteen year old girls weren’t known for their super-strength. She rather hoped he figured it was just a fluke and wouldn’t ask questions. If not? ....Run?

“But really, thanks. Guess I should pay more attention.” And always bring a super-suit with you. Perhaps she ought to practice a Wonder Woman costume change?

With a dry plain look upon her face, the only noise that could be heard in the empty cell was the clicking beeping noise of her restrained collar. With no idea of her current status, or where she was brought - the only thoughts she had were the mimicking dark ones. Glancing up to an unknown figure, she couldn’t bother to make out who it may be, nor did she have the energy to do so. Her arms became confined to her straitjacket, as her ruby eyes stayed fixed on the individual’s shoes on the other side of the glass.

There were so many prison break television shows and jokes she could make. Maybe go all Steve McQueen and Great Escape, or joke about the Prison Break show that had so many seasons. But seeing the young woman before her, Gwen didn’t know what to say. Jokes weren’t right, not just now and jokes were really all she had as her defence.

     “They wanted to show me where I’d end up,             if I didn’t change.”

This was just wrong though. A collar, the jacket... This was against all codes, and this was being done to a hero. Gwen frowned, taking one more tentative step closer. Still just a teen, something like this rocked her whole world...
