Bette Nesmith Graham (1924-1980) was the inventor of Liquid Paper, a correction fluid which revolutionised typewriting.
Educated only to high-school level, she found a job as a secretary with Texas Bank and Trust, and eventually became executive secretary - the highest position available to women at the time. She invented a white correction paint which made it easy to cover mistakes made by typewriters, and started marketing it in 1956. This grew into a company with over 200 employees, selling millions of bottles every year.

There’s been a wild political scandal in Norway lately. Sylvi Listhaug, the right-wing populist Progress Party minister of Justice and Public Securty posted this facebook meme on her page five days ago:
The meme says “The labour party thinks that the rights of terrorists are more important than our nation’s security. Like and share.”. The background for this is that the Labour Party struck down a bill in parliament that would allow the political Department of Justice to revoke the citizenship of so-called “foreign fighters” (ie people who go to other countries to join ISIS or any other wahabi terrorist organization) without going through the Judicial Branch. The Labour Party doesn’t want to give the politicians the right to revoke citizenships (along with another party in the current right wing government, the Liberal Party, who also struck down the bill.), because that would be very authoritarian. That’s the basis of this meme.
This, though, is such an evil thing to do considering the fact that the ONLY political victims of terrorism in Norway is the labour party. It is their youth camp that got attacked, and the terrorist argued that his attack was justified based on a distorted evil conspiracy theory that the labour party allows “Islamist terrorists” into our country. IE she uses the EXACT same rhethoric that the man who killed 69 youths on an island used to justify that to himself. So the Labour Party is VERY rightfully pissed and horrified by this and has asked her to delete the post and apologise.
Today, five days later, Sylvi Listhaug deleted the post, but she emphasised that she didnt do it because she wanted to, but because she didn’t have the copyright for the photograph in the background. Five hours later, Erna Solberg, our PM from the Conservative Party “apologised on behalf of the government” (even though Sylvi, a part of the government, still supports the idea behind the post). It was at that time also revealed that the PM had asked her minister of justice, Sylvi, to remove the post FIVE TIMES the past five days but she refused to do it. So, she disobeyed orders from the political leadership. And DESPITE THIS, Erna still says she has faith in Sylvi and thinks she does a “good job as a minister”. HOW WILD IS THAT, she has NO contol over the ministers from the populist Progress Party at all, if that isnt weak leadership i dont know what is .
The Red Party issued a motion of no confidence against Sylvi today (based on the fact that she obviously thinks that the majority in parliament supports terrorists, which is not very good for our political system). It’s not likely it will get a majority in parliament though (because our center politicians are usually cowards) but JESUS CHRIST how can one lead a government and still trust her after that.
So today was WILD.
Sylvi went to parliament and apologised FOUR times, completely humiliated. She went up there once, but after that the opposition dragged her so completely (because she did the im sorry you were hurt routine) and she had to go up there AGAIN to apologise another three times. But the Labour Party has refused to accept her apology (because it was essentially pulled out of her by parliament) and has said they support the red party’s motion of no confidence. This means that if the Centre Party and the Christian People’s Party (both oppositional parties) support the motion it will get a majority and she will have to go. Im assuming the Centre Party will support, but it’s all down to the christians who will probably not remove her, but WOW
Parliament has just voted in favour of a formal complaint on Listhaug’s statement on her facebook page. This is the strongest critisism the parliament can formally put forward short of approving a motion of no confidence.
The motion of no confidence will be discussed on Tuesday.
