I just wanted to ask if anyone wants me draw something. Like maybe some scene that would look interesting or cute. Because right now I’m torn between so many ideas and fandoms that i just can’t decide
One thing that I think Brett's Holmes portrays really well is the level of casual affection and domesticity between him and Watson. They're quite touchy and physically comfortable (by victorian standards at least), very anticipitory of each other, and it's clear, owing heavily to the acting, how much they mean to each other and how long they've spent around the other. Watson is gentle and sympathetic with his friend in a way that i feel some adaptations lose (while also maintaining the strength and temper he sometimes shows in canon), and Holmes, despite being a few degrees colder in his dialogue and tone, clearly holds a good deal of care for Watson and takes genuine pride in watching him suceed on cases.
That applies more broadly, too. They removed a lot of Holmes' kinder, more comforting dialogue, especially when he's dealing with a distressed client, but Brett's acting really shines in portraying subtler warmth and concern. I know the microexpressions have been mentioned before but good lord, he really is seeing how many he can fit into one episode, and it plays into that controlled, not unemotional, aspect of canon Holmes.
