What is the this thing about Myrna Loy and cake? I read a post that said "I want a guy to look at me like Myrna looks at cake" and I don't get any of it. I'm not trying to sound rude, but can you explain what this thing is all about? Are there just a lot of pictures of her with cake or something?

To be totally honest, I have no idea. But if someone would like to explain it, I’d be grateful!

I think the reason this cake thing started is that from the MGM era there happen to be a number of candid on set images of Myrna celebrating various birthdays/events.   These were publicity photos put out by the studio just like scene stills and actor portraits. 

Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy and Bill Powell tend to be in these images too!

a few friends back in 2011 thought it was funny that there were so many pics of myrna with cake, so we turned it into a silly fandom meme that was a bit of a laugh. as far as i know it wasn't really a "thing" prior to this, not in a meme sense (obviously the photos existed, but i don't think the joke did, to my knowledge). i don’t know that there’s much more to it except that it appears to have been rediscovered again this year by a new lot of old hollywooders, which is cool!
