Hello! I recently asked someone to critique a short story I wrote, but when he discussed it with me, it became obvious that my story has several things wrong with it, and I left feeling embarrassed for having shared it. I'm trying to fix it right now and make it better, but I keep feeling like it's unfixable and like I will never be as good of a writer as I want to be. Any advice?
Don't ever feel embarrassed for sharing something that's not quite there yet. Other people's reactions and feedback are really useful in getting it to the point where it is done. And also, other people can be wrong.
I love when something I've written comes back with notes from someone I respect. Because then I get to make it better.

Jewish Amulet: ‘the sun will not harm you by day nor the moon by night’
This amulet draws on Jewish verse, traditional art and mysticism. The text ‘the sun will not harm you by day nor the moon by night’ is taken from Psalm 121 (Shir Lamaalot). Inside the amulet are three mythical characters some believe to have protective powers: Sanvai, Sansanvai & Semangelof… These angels first appeared in a Kabbalistic text and have been around for hundreds of years.
