How I deal with anxious days
Sometimes I wake up and just feel shitty. Or some days just turn out to be awful. Here’s how I deal with days like this:
Get warm and cozy -How you get warm and cozy depends on your surrounding. If you’re home, then make yourself some tea or cocoa and cuddle up in bed or on a couch. If you can’t try to put on something comfortable and warm and again, get yourself something warm to drink.
Comfort food -This one might be tricky for stress eaters and binge eaters like me so be careful with what you eat. I like to get myself a home made meal like soup or peppers baked with cheese or my favourite cooked potatoes with blue cheese.
Journal -Lately I have finally gotten into journaling about my feelings. I used to have trouble with it cause I kept filtering myslef. Now I know how to journal and how to use it as a tool to calm my mind down.
Realise you’ll be okay no matter what -Life has a lot of unpleasant things but the only thing that can stop you is death. Realising that even the worst outcome of what usually makes me anxious won’t kill me, releaves a bit of said anxiety.
Clean your surrounding -Cleaning is one of the activities that help you turn your brain off and clean surrounding is always better than a messy one. Unless cleaning causes you more overwhelm, go and clean your room.
Hobbies -If you have the enegry to do something, do something you love.
Comfort shows and video games -Sometimes I can’t even force myself to do art or read so I go for the easy distraction. I have very specific shows that always help me calm down or I like to play video games.
Do not stay alone -I’m an interovert and I appreciate time alone but when it comes to this I beg you be with someone if you can. It can be a parent, a friend or significant other.
Idols -Look for inspiration in people you look up to. I like to watch Mark’s videos because he feels familiar and he makes me laugh.
Music -Listen to your favourite music. Get lost in it.
Meditation or relaxation techniques -If you feel like you can’t calm down no matter what, look up some relaxation technique and do that.
