Deltarune Equipment Funtimes
Some notes for pacifist/neutral optimization, if you want to try to get everyone the best gear for Chapter 3′s neutral/pacifist when it comes out:
Jevil items:
Devilsknife (+5 ATK, +4 Magic, -10 Rude Buster TP) is actually really good for Susie in any circumstance! Not only does it have the highest ATK of any Susie weapon (not that it matters for sparing…), it’s the only Susie weapon so far that increases magic. If her healing ever improves in future chapters, this could be useful. Plus, the reduced TP for Rudebuster is, at the very least, good for fighting area bosses and secret bosses. Also, Susie doesn’t have any other weapons currently that raise Magic or Defense, unlike Kris and Ralsei.
However… Jevilstail (+2 ATK, +2 DEF, +2 Magic) is the best piece of armor you can get in Chapter 1. Though, a lot of Chapter 2 armors also have good secondary effects, and Jevilstail doesn’t have any secondary effects… I think it’s more a matter of preference, honestly. Personally, I like hoarding useful secondary effects.
Spamton items:
Dealmaker (+ 5 DEF, +5 Magic, %30 battle money increase) is very very good. Always try to get Dealmaker when going against Spamton. No other piece of armor gives you as much DEF or Magic in chapters 1+2. You should probably give it to Ralsei, since he’ll benefit the most from the magic increase.
DON’T ever bother getting the Puppet Scarf (+10 ATK, -6 Magic). TBH, even if you do want to use Ralsei to FIGHT for some ungodly reason, I’m not sure the severe reduction to his healing is… worth it. Like. Healing is a good and useful thing to have. What’s wrong with you!?
Fusion items:
At the beginning of chapter 2, prior to entering the cyber world, make some Silver Cards (+2 Def, + 5% battle money increase) out of Amber Cards (+1 Def). It has the same stat increase as both Chapter 1′s Dice Brace (+2 Def) and Chapter 2′s Glow Wrist (+2 Def), while also having a bonus effect. So I’d say it’s strictly better than either of those items.
Make sure you save chapter 1′s White Ribbon (+2 Def) and chapter 2′s Pink Ribbon (+1 Def, increased graze area) so you can make the Twin Ribbon (+3 Def, increased graze area) after leaving the cyber world.
Buy at least one B.Shot Bow Tie (+2 Def, +1 Magic) from Swatch prior to sealing the cyber world fountain, so that you can fuse it with the Tension Bit (consumable TP item) to make the Tension Bow (+2 Def, 10% TP increase from bullet grazing) in Castle Town later. You’ll lose the original item’s small magic increase, but between the twin ribbon and the tension bow, you’ll be better at getting the TP you need to use magic, anyways.
DON’T make the Spike Band (+2 ATK, +1 Def) from the Iron Shackle (+1 ATK, +2 DEF) and Glow Wrist (+2 Def). For a pacifist, the Spike Band is strictly worse than either of its components.
A possible final loadout by the end of chapter 2:
