The humid Orlando air clings to everything, even now, but Rhea barely notices it as she leans back against the hood of her car, arms folded loosely across her chest. Her eyes stay locked on Dom like sheβs still making up for the time apart, taking him in. Thereβs a takeout receipt crumpled in her hand, forgotten, because her attention keeps drifting back to him. The way he looks a little tired from travel, the familiar edge in his posture that never really goes away. βFlight treat you like garbage?β she mutters, tone casual but edged with that quiet concern she doesnβt bother hiding from him.
She pushes off the car after a moment, closing the space between them just enough to bump her shoulder lightly against his, a subtle kind of contact that lingers a second longer than necessary. βFood should be ready soon,β Rhea adds, glancing toward the restaurant before her gaze slides right back to him, smirk tugging at her lips. βThen we can get outta here.β Thereβs something softer under it, though, a quiet kind of contentment settling in now that heβs here, safe, within reach. Her head tilts slightly, eyes narrowing in mock suspicion. βTry not to eat all of it before we even make it back to my place, yeah?β
THE HUMIDITY BLOWS. he's used to the vegas heat these days or chilling in the san diego sun whenever he's visiting family. now, he needs not only a nap, but also a damn shower probably. whatever. he missed rhea enough to make it worth it. going from getting to see her every week to not seeing her at all was an adjustment. similar to what he felt when damian got moved to smackdown. he yawns, for probably the eighth time since she picked him up from the airport, as she asks her question. β it always does. no leg room, can barely recline. why do you think i splurge with my hotel room when we're traveling? gotta treat myself right after these shitty flights. β
HE LIFTS OFF HIS PADRES CAP, running a hand through his hair before adjusting the cap back on his head. he's watching her all the while. she bumps his shoulder gently and a grin finds it's way to his face as her eyes narrow. β i make no promises. β words are teasing. β i'm a growing boy. i need sustenance! besides, you should have got enough egg rolls to survive the drive back to your place. β
