👻 Spirits Everywhere: A Witch's Guide to the Many Beings We Work With
So you've lit your candles, called your corners, and maybe something moved in your peripheral vision. Was it the wind? Was it your cat? Or was it... a spirit?
In witchcraft and pagan traditions, we engage with a wild spectrum of spirits — and no, we’re not just talking about ghosts or wayward ancestors whispering cryptic things at 3 AM. Spirits can be allies, messengers, mischief-makers, protectors, and even full-blown deities, depending on the tradition and context.
Let’s break down the who's who of the spirit world so you’re not blindly inviting anything with a pulse (or lack of one) into your sacred space.
🕯️ Ancestor Spirits: The Ones With Your Eyes and Stubbornness
What they are:
Ancestors of blood, spirit, land, or tradition. These are your great-great-great-grandma types, but also chosen family or those who passed on the path you now walk.
Why we work with them:
They’re invested in your wellbeing, they’ve seen some sh*t, and they’re often the first to show up when protection or wisdom is needed. Plus, they usually don’t require extravagant offerings — just remembrance and respect.
Pro tip:
Don’t over-romanticize them. Some ancestors were jerks. You’re not obligated to venerate anyone who hurt you or your people.
⚰️ The Beloved Dead: Friends, Teachers, and Legendary Spirits
What they are:
Spirits of the deceased who are not blood-related but deeply respected. Think: a beloved teacher, a historical figure you honor, or even a past mentor.
Why we work with them:
They offer guidance from a place of resonance or kinship. These spirits are often part of personal spirit courts or magical lineages.
Offerings & Respect:
Give them something meaningful. A poem, a candle, a favorite snack. You’re not just remembering them — you’re building relationship.
🌳 Nature Spirits: The OG Roommates
What they are:
The consciousness of the natural world — rivers, trees, mountains, winds. Sometimes they show up as spirits within specific plants or places.
Why we work with them:
They keep the balance. Working with them can enhance land-based spells, healing magic, and environmental offerings. Respect them, or they will ignore you.
A note on etiquette:
Nature spirits aren’t your pets or tools. Approach with humility. Don’t thank them formally (they hate that). Offer reciprocity: water the land, clean the trash, leave offerings.
👻 Wandering Spirits & Ghosts: Not Always Friendly, Not Always Foes
What they are:
Disembodied human spirits that haven’t moved on or have returned for unfinished business.
Why we interact (carefully):
Sometimes they need help crossing over. Sometimes they need you to know they were here first. And sometimes… they’re just nosy.
Best practices:
Set firm boundaries. Cleansing and protection should be part of your regular practice if you're inviting contact with unknowns.
🦊 Animal Spirits: The Wild, The Wise, The Totemic
What they are:
Spirits of specific animals (not always your literal pet) that carry lessons, messages, or energies.
Why we connect:
They’re messengers, guides, or mirrors. Some walk with you for life; others pop in like magical consultants.
How to engage:
Learn their behaviors and folklore. Leave symbolic offerings — feathers, fur, or food. And again, don’t thank them like a stranger. Respect is the language here.
✨ Land Spirits & Genius Loci: Spirits of Place
What they are:
Spirits tied to a specific location — the hill behind your house, the crossroads at the edge of town, the weirdly quiet patch of forest you definitely don’t trespass into.
Why they matter:
You’re on their turf. Want your garden to thrive? Your spellwork to land? Get their blessing.
How to work with them:
Offerings like bread, milk, honey, or even acts of service (trash pickup counts!) show respect. Introduce yourself when you move in. Don’t assume they like you — earn it.
🧚 Elemental Spirits & Fae Folk: Friends or Feral?
What they are:
Beings connected to elemental forces — earth, air, fire, water — and fae spirits that aren’t human or divine.
Handle with care:
Not all fae are sparkly and sweet. Some will help you bloom roses in winter. Some will steal your spoon collection out of spite.
Best practices:
Never say thank you. Leave offerings like cream, shiny coins, or small food items. Keep your word, and never accept their deals lightly.
👑 Deities as Spirits: Yes, the Gods Are Spirits Too
What they are:
Divinities from global pantheons — like Hekate, Odin, Freya, Brigid, Kali, and so on.
Why they’re different:
They’re more than just spirits — they’re cosmic forces with consciousness, culture, and tradition. You don’t “use” deities. You build relationship with them.
Working with them:
Honor them with offerings, ritual, prayer, and study. Learn their history and cultural context. They are not vending machines.
🌌 Other Types of Spirits
Shadow Spirits: Not evil — just here to help with shadow work, trauma, and introspection.
Star Beings or Cosmic Spirits: Yes, some folks work with beings that feel extraterrestrial or interdimensional. No tinfoil hats required.
Constructed Spirits (Servitors, Egregores): Created intentionally by magical practitioners — not “naturally occurring,” but fully functional allies when well made.
💡 Final Thoughts: Spirit Work Is Relationship Work
Working with spirits is less like a phone call and more like building a community garden. It takes time, care, offerings, trust, and boundaries.
If you're new to spirit work:
Start small. Your ancestors and house spirits are great first connections.
Journal everything. Spirits are subtle.
Use protection and discernment. You’re not inviting every astral hitchhiker to your party.
Treat spirits like people with agency — not tools, not pets, not servants.

How to Channel Your Emotions into Powerful Rituals: A Guide to Turning Feelings into Spellbinding Magic
Hello, mystical minds and spellbinding souls! Today, we’re diving into a topic that’s both magical and deeply personal: how to channel your emotions into powerful rituals. Yes, that’s right — turning those swirling feelings of joy, sorrow, anger, or sheer frustration into the kind of magic that even your most enchanted candle would envy. Ready to transform your emotional rollercoaster into a mystical masterpiece? Let’s get spell-casting!
Emotions: The Magical Currency You Didn’t Know You Had
Before we embark on our mystical journey, let’s get one thing straight: your emotions are not just for Netflix binge-watching and dramatic Instagram posts. They’re actually potent fuel for your magical workings. Think of your emotions as the magical currency you didn’t realize you were hoarding. Whether you’re bursting with joy or feeling as gloomy as a cloudy day in a Grimm fairy tale, your emotions can be the key ingredient in crafting spells and rituals that pack a punch.
Step 1: Identify Your Emotional Vibe
First things first: what’s the mood you’re working with? Identifying your emotional state is like choosing the right ingredient for your magical recipe. Are you feeling:
Joyful and Radiant: Perfect for spells involving abundance, love, or celebration.
Angry and Fiery: Ideal for transformative rituals or banishing negative energies.
Sad or Melancholic: Great for healing spells or finding inner peace.
Anxious or Stressed: Excellent for grounding rituals and calming spells.
Step 2: Craft Your Ritual Around Your Emotional Energy
Now that you’ve pinpointed your emotional state, it’s time to craft a ritual that channels this energy effectively. Here’s how to align your feelings with your magical goals:
Joyful and Radiant Rituals: If you’re feeling like you’ve just won the lottery (metaphorically or otherwise), use this energy to amplify spells related to prosperity and love. Light some bright candles, use vibrant colors, and incorporate celebratory elements like music or dance.
Example Ritual: Create a “Joy Jar” where you write down things that bring you happiness and success. As you fill the jar, visualize these positive elements growing and manifesting in your life.
Angry and Fiery Rituals: Channel your anger into transformative magic. This energy is perfect for spells of release and change. Use elements like fire (a candle or a fire pit), red and orange colors, and assertive language in your spells.
Example Ritual: Write down what you want to banish or change on a piece of paper. Burn it in a fire-safe container while visualizing the energy dissipating and being replaced by positive change.
Sad or Melancholic Rituals: Use this energy for healing and self-care. Create a serene space with soothing colors and calming scents. Incorporate water elements or gentle music to facilitate emotional release and renewal.
Example Ritual: Take a bath with herbs and salts known for their healing properties. As you soak, visualize your sadness flowing away, leaving you refreshed and renewed.
Anxious or Stressed Rituals: Channel this energy into grounding and calming rituals. Use earthy elements, calming scents like lavender, and colors that promote relaxation, such as blues and greens.
Example Ritual: Create a grounding meditation using stones or crystals. Sit quietly and hold or place these items around you while focusing on your breath and visualizing a strong connection to the earth.
Step 3: Infuse Your Ritual with Emotional Intent
Once you’ve set up your ritual, it’s time to pour your emotions into it. Your intent is the magical thread that weaves your emotional energy into your spell. Focus on what you want to achieve and let your feelings guide you. If you’re joyous, let that radiance shine through in every action. If you’re angry, channel that intensity into decisive actions.
Pro Tip: Write down your intentions and emotions before starting your ritual. This can help clarify your goals and keep you focused throughout the process.
Step 4: Reflect and Release
After your ritual, take a moment to reflect. How did it feel? Did you channel your emotions effectively? Give yourself credit for the magical work you’ve done. Sometimes, just acknowledging your efforts can enhance the power of your spell.
Funny Fact: If your ritual didn’t go as planned, don’t worry — sometimes even the gods have an off day. Just like with any other art form, practice makes perfect!
Examples of Emotions-Based Rituals
Joyful Abundance Ritual: Gather items that symbolize prosperity (coins, green candles). Focus on the joy and excitement you feel, and visualize abundance flowing into your life.
Fiery Transformation Ritual: Write down something you want to change (like a bad habit) and perform a fire ritual to symbolize the transformation. Visualize your anger fueling this change.
Healing Water Ritual: Create a peaceful space with candles and soothing music. Use water (a bath or a bowl) and add herbs or essential oils that promote healing. Immerse yourself in the ritual, letting your sadness flow away.
Grounding Stone Meditation: Sit with grounding crystals (like hematite or black tourmaline). Focus on your breath and visualize stress and anxiety being absorbed by the stones, leaving you calm and centered.
Conclusion: Your Emotions Are Your Magical Superpower
In conclusion, your emotions are not just random feelings — they’re powerful tools for magic. By understanding and channeling these emotions, you can create rituals that are not only effective but deeply personal and transformative. So next time you’re feeling all the feels, remember you’re holding the magical currency of the universe in your hands. Use it wisely, and may your spells be as potent as your emotions!
NOTES 。this is NOT a roleplaying account, nor is this a form of delusion. the owner of this account is a practitioner of witchcraft, and IRL magical girls fall under the chaos magic and pop culture magic aspect of witchcraft.
as a practitioner whose main practices include the usage of dreams in my own magickal workings, i certainly do believe that it's possible to use them in the process of becoming a real life magical hero. this type of magick that i perform is referred to as dream work, and it's something that i think can go hand-in-hand with astral work, which is the secondary center of my witchcraft activities.
in this blog, i'll be discussing in length what dream work is, how it can be used by those who aspire to become magical heroes, and how it can also be used by non-magical heroes who practice witchcraft as an addition to their activities. in general, this will serve as a lengthy discussion to the magic and psychology held within the realm of dreams.
i think that everyone already knows what dreams are, but i'd like to expand further about them. dreams are believed by sigmund freud, a neurologist, as the unconscious' way of expressing itself in order to resolve repressed or unwanted emotions, experiences, and aggressive impulses. some experts suggests that having good dreams is related to good quality sleep.
in psychology, dream work is like what the name says; working with dreams to uncover secrets about ourselves, to explore the numerous images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that the dream presents us, in an attempt to discover how do these dreams manifests itself to us. those who work with dreams often thinks that a dream could have more than one meaning depending on what is being learned about and explored in the dream.
in gestalt-based dream work, it's suggested that all elements in a dream; the characters, the setting, basically everything that's seen, represent an aspect of the dreamer. it represents a part of the self, it shows you an inner dynamic.
the method in gestalt-based dream work is to revisit the dream from each perspective, to re-experience the dream as if you're each of these characters you saw in the dream, and as a result you can get a clear view on what is actually occuring with its underlying context, you find out what is actually going on within you, and at times dreams could be a reflection of our own reality, of what life is like to us.
in jungian-based dream work, it's believed that dreams are a way for the unconscious mind to communicate with the conscious mind. while freud thought that dreams hide their meanings, jung thought that dreams directly tell its own meanings through symbolisms and metaphors, placing heavy importance on the vivid mental images and symbolisms that these dreams shows us.
but if you're someone who's acquainted with your own dreams, such as being a lucid dreamer or dream work practitioner, you'd be able to achieve certain feats; from being able to remember your dreams in vivid detail, to being capable of tampering with it, communicating with entities through it, and even down to like setting up the dream realm as a place to perform certain spells and rituals without anyone knowing in the real world. we can also attain our goals of being a magical hero and communicate with our familiars through dreams.
in witchcraft, practitioners can use dream work as a way of entity communication, dream divination, dream interpretation, dream incubation, astral projection, and so forth. the following list includes the aforementioned activities and i'll explain how magical heroes can use these too.
dream work activities .ᐟ
dream interpretation: this is the process of assigning meaning and significance to a dream. dreams are subjective to each person, and even if there are shared meanings, it is best to look at the symbolisms from a personal point of view in interpretation.
some elements of the dream can have importance that is personal to the dreamer, while to others it does not, hence the subjectivity. for example, you dreamt of a red apple, and even if there are things online that you can use to base your interpretation off of, it's best to look into what a red apple would mean to you. in addition to that, dreams can be interpreted via intuition.
as a magical hero, sometimes we can get signs that are derived from the symbolisms and metaphors that we see during sleep, and i've witnessed some magical heroes be assigned a concept through a dream.
dream divination: also known as oneiromancy. it's a type of divination that focuses on gaining clarity and information derived from a dream, and this is something that is done alongside dream interpretation. this can be based on the belief that dreams sometimes come from entities, and to understand those messages, one must decipher what they dreamed of.
as a magical hero, this can be used as a way of communicating with your magical familiar or any other magical entity you'd like to get in contact with. personally, i met my familiar during a dream where they introduced themselves, and at times, me and my familiar would talk to each other in a dream.
dream incubation: dream incubation is the act of inducing a dream or intending for a specific thing to happen in a dream. this is a practice that had existed in ancient greece and ancient egypt. this can be done through placing a sigil/cartomancy card representing the dream that you want under the pillow you sleep on, affirmations and manifestation, or by talking to an entity and asking them to provide you a specific dream.
as a magical hero, i've witnessed others achieve their goals and be capable of transformation through a dream induced via dream incubation. for example, many puella magis performed the contract through a dream where they aren't lucid.
lucid dreaming: lucid dreaming is the act of becoming conscious in a dream where no one would normally be aware in, this can be by accident or intended. and in a lucid dream, you can set up the ambience and atmosphere of a dream into one where you'd be able to perform your ideal rituals, spellwork, or invite specific entities.
earlier, i mentioned how some magical heroes used dream incubation in order to meet their goals of becoming a fully pledged MH, but another alternative to that would be lucid dreaming where you'd be able to invoke the presence of a magical familiar or your transformation device.
astral projection: astral projection is the act of separating your astral body from the physical body. in a state of dreaming, the body is under sleep paralysis and therefore wouldn't be able to resist or react if the astral body separates itself via a dream. you can use the method of lucid dreaming in order to astral project.
i currently have plans on writing tutorial blogs that cover the topics of dream incubation, lucid dreaming, and astral projection, as methods to become a fully pledged magical hero. now that i'm on break from my civilian duties like being a student, i'm hoping that i'll be able to post more! still, i'm happy that i got a chance to ramble about dream work/dream magic because it's something i do a lot.
In my previous post, I talked a bit about my personal theories about divination as a whole. Now, I want to get into the origin of this whole thought process and hyperfixation: digital divination.
So many practitioners that I've talked to thus far about digital divination seem to either dislike it entirely or distrust it for one reason or another. On my Tumblr post on the topic, several users cite inaccurate results, particularly from tarot apps.
Similarly, in a poll done by jbird-the-manwich about algorithmic divination, around 20% of respondents (myself included) out of 213 respondents stated that they experienced reduced accuracy consistently in comparison to physical tools. 27% of respondents said they don't use digital tools at all. Only 3% reported improved results with digital tools over physical tools, and 4% selected a separate option stating that they've had particular success with an application.
It's a fascinating result, to say the least. I'd expected the reduced accuracy result to be the most-voted-for. That 27% of respondents who say they don't use digital tools at all is staggering, but not necessarily surprising. Many books and online resources talk about, advertise, and otherwise endorse physical divination means. I'm on the hunt for resources specifically about digital tools, so stay tuned for more as I dig.
Interestingly, in that same poll, 21% of respondents said they found no correlation in accuracy between digital and physical tools. There is a substantial crowd out there who clearly believe that digital divination is just as good as physical divination. So why do I keep finding the very vocal sentiment that digital tools aren't as accurate, aren't as reliable, aren't as good as physical tools?
Common Divination Theories
Yep, we're back to theory. This time, it's common theories I'm seeing repeated in conversations over and over again.
Divine communication. Speaking directly with a deity for guidance, messages, etc. about the past, present, and future. This includes deities' oracles, deity workers, and any others who use divination to commune with their god(s) or who believe their divination is mostly or entirely provided by their god(s).
Spirit communication. Along the same lines as divine communication. This includes spirit messages, ancestor work, and so forth. Spirits provide answers and guidance via divination. This also includes anyone with an animistic view of their tools, seeing them as having a personality or spirit that communicates or interacts directly with the reader.
Subconscious influence. Depending on the divination method being used, the specifics of this vary. Essentially, the idea is that divination taps into the subconscious mind and "delivers" messages from oneself into the open air. Whether this is because of subconscious psychic abilities or a psychological effect, it's covered under this theory.
Active psychic ability. Some diviners believe they have a natural psychic talent that they tap into. It has nothing to do with divinity, spirits, or anything other than their own ability. It's also not "subconscious" - it's an active skill being put to use. (An extension of this is sometimes the clair- senses and ability to sense spirits on their own without outside assistance.)
Intuitive powers. Similar to subconscious influence, I think, but quite different from psychic ability. This is either tied into other methods *or* stands on its own. Rather than psychic or mystical forces, this theory relies on the human mind and its powers of making connections. It differs from the subconscious slightly by way of phrasing and activity. Instead of letting passive connections come to the surface, intuitive readers actively stretch and feel for answers. This is psychic abilities' mundane, grounded cousin.
Often, you'll see some of these ideas blended together. It makes sense - an animist is likely to view their tool as having its own spirit or energy, but they may also say that they rely on their intuitive mind to work with that spirit.
Interpretation
Note that these are just theories for the method in question. All of these theories rely on interpretation by the diviner, whether it's interpreting imagery or a message from the gods. Divination can't work if someone isn't interpreting. At that point, it's just dust in the wind, a nothing message with no recipient; and in that case, why send a message at all? What's the point?
Methods of interpretation are as varied and unique as the diviners themselves. Blending color theory, positioning, traditional meanings, numerology, and more, it all depends on the practice, the tool, and the diviner.
This is why you're going to find a thousand different answers, each more esoteric than the last, when asking about how divination works. The answer is, there's no general consensus. There's no agreement on how it works or why.
But does that matter?
I think no.
Honestly, I think we're all tapping into the same "source" using different methods. I can't definitively prove that gods don't exist, just as I can't definitively prove that spirits do exist. There's only belief.
And maybe that's the kicker. Perhaps it's not the method itself that works; it's the "reaching" that works. Whatever method, whatever way, it doesn't matter. If it works, it works. It's one of those things that may never be fully understood, but we can certainly hold it up to the light and examine it. Perhaps all that matters is the belief that the divination will work.
This same philosophy can be applied to all witchcraft, I think. We're all doing generally the same thing in different ways according to our cultures, our traditions, our beliefs. There is no right or wrong way, because all that matters is that we're doing it.
There will always be some methods that work better than others, just as there will always be people who do it better than others. But anyone can do it. Anyone can learn divination and make it work for themselves.
But why the seeming stigma against digital divination?
Opinions Against It
Many of the opinions I'm finding so far online against digital divination are largely similar. Practitioners I've encountered believe that:
A connection to the tool is required, and connecting with apps/websites is more difficult (or impossible) than with a physical tool
Digital tools aren't truly random; an algorithm chooses the outcome, meaning it's not authentic
Digital tools don't have a "spirit" like physical tools do
They're "good for beginners" but like using guidebooks, they're almost like a crutch to lean on or a place to start before becoming more "serious"
Inaccurate results with no clear digging into "why" they're not accurate
Channeling energy through the tool is required, and channeling through an app/website is more difficult (or impossible) with a physical tool
All of these opinions are directly sourced from conversations I've had with other diviners. For my part, the difficulty comes from the disconnect between myself and the tool in question. Whether this is because I just haven't applied myself, I'm coming at it the wrong way, or it simply doesn't work for me, I'm not sure yet! As I move into testing apps and websites, I suppose we'll see.
Opinions in Favor
Of course, there have been people who say they use digital divination tools frequently or even exclusively. Most often, they do divinations for themselves only; I'm not sure why.
Their opinions in favor of digital divination are, largely:
Financial accessibility - Little to no cost for apps/websites (or there are free versions of apps with buy-in options for more features
Accessibility features - No physical shuffling for those who can't, users of screenreaders can utilize tools they otherwise couldn't, etc.
Available anywhere - No need to travel with tools when they're in your phone
Good for witches who practice in secret
Great for learning/trying divination - apps/websites often have resources for pull meanings, features for daily pulls, and spreads to use
Learning & Accessibility
Once again, we see the sentiment of learning in connection to divination apps. I wonder if this is a product of the branding or advertisement of the applications. Or, maybe, it's because digital tools are accessible. They're not $60 a pop in Barnes and Noble; they're discreet; they're easy to access for literally anyone with a computer or smartphone.
Is it this ease of access that creates a sort of stigma against it? Does digital divination - particularly digital tarot - have the connotation of being for beginners only?
Does anyone offer professional, paid services using digital tools?
The other thing about digital tools is, as mentioned, the accessibility. People who use screen readers, who can't shuffle a whole deck or hold up a pendulum, who have difficulty with memory - they may need the sort of accessibility that a digital tool provides. Who's to say that their divinations are less accurate than someone using a physical tool?
Increasingly, I'm coming to believe that it's less about the tool and more about the user. Everyone has a penchant for a particular one, sure, and everyone has a preference. But anyone can learn divination. And the more accessible it is, the better.
Next Up: Reading into apps' websites and reviews, deciding on what to try first, and first impressions.

Visualizing is to energy work as a hammer is to carpentry.
Visualizing, picturing, imagining, believing, etc., are tools that you use to focus and apply your force. They do not build a cabinet unless you are there wielding them.
The force comes from you and your personal power. Without that, the tools lay inert.
Finding out how to use and employ actual power when doing energy work can be something of a challenge.
Here's a bunch of info to troubleshoot, in no particular order.
Research altered states of consciousness (ASC). The super over-simplified version is that we have a lot of brain wave states (gamma, beta, alpha, theta, delta). When people talk about "magical mindset" or "ritual headspace," they are probably not just referring to feeling magical. They are probably referring to actually exiting the loud, everyday beta brainwave state and entering a different one. This is why so many energy work techniques and authors push relaxation and calmness exercises; it literally changes your brainwave patterns. If you're feeling like you're missing something that everyone else seems to understand so nobody is talking about it, try starting here.
Practice relaxation and calmness. Many people can wield their power in chaotic, overwhelming situations. However if you already don't know how to work with your power, this is probably a bad place to start. Relaxation and calmness is not necessarily "meditation." Choose a couple active techniques (like breathing exercises, clenching and releasing muscles, and counting down) and practice them. Combine this practice with research about ASC to understand how you are practicing the ability to drop out of "everyday" headspace and into an entirely different flow. Whenever you practice energy work, start by entering your relaxed flow.
Avoid disassociation. It all starts with your body. The carpenter doesn't sit down, meditate, exit his body, and then visualize the hammer swinging. No cabinets will be built that way. Do not mistake relaxation and calmness to mean that you should exit, ignore, or run away from your body. This is about discovering how to use a muscle group inside your body. Like someone learning how to wiggle their ears, it cannot be accomplished if the body is wholly ignored.
Look for your own energy battery. No, these are not "chakras." Our personal metaphysical energy can be understood to be "stored" in one or more locations in our physical body. Different models promote wildly different energy centers. Commonly, energy centers are believed to be at the sit-bones of your rumpus, in your solar plexus, in the middle of your chest, in your forehead, and along your spine (among many other possibilities). Try various techniques of energy-gathering (such as breathing in pure light, or pulling energy through your hands and feet), with a specific focus that the energy should go to its "storage space." Watch, feel, know, or observe where the energy goes once it enters your body. Alternatively, any energy reader worth their salt should be able to locate your energy centers for you.
Learn how to feel your energy body. For the more witch-minded, Roger J. Horne has an excellent tutorial in A Broom at Midnight, in the "Preparations and an Invitation" chapter. Robert Bruce's NEW Energy Ways is an excellent primer on feeling and working with your energy body.
Energy work should wear you out. While some people are "energy suns" and rarely seem to ever run out of energy, most of us are not. If you can 'visualize' spells, wards, and spirits without any noticeable change in energy levels, you are probably not putting any energy into them. For beginners, even a single energy work exercise, or ten or fifteen minutes of practice, may induce noticeable physiological changes.
Experiment with methods of raising energy. Methods include: breathing in energy, pulling energy directly through the pores of your skin, bringing energy in through your hands, feet, or base of your spine, drawing energy down through the top of your head, and drawing orbs of energy out of your chest or solar plexus, among other things. Toy with various techniques and see which ones feel like they hold potential for you. Try The Sorcerer's Secrets by Jason Miller for elemental energy work techniques.
Go breadth-first on techniques. Although I generally recommend choosing one technique and practicing it for a while to see how it works, you may benefit from rounding up a ton of different exercises and trying each one once or twice before moving on. Look for differences in how power is gathered, programmed, and employed. Make note of any techniques which don't click at all for you, and which ones you feel power and potential in.
Don't do it if it hurts. I have a very very messed up spine, energetically speaking. Drawing power in through my tailbone hurts, immediately, in a very physical way, that can last days. We're all built different. Energy work is not like pushing through the burn at the gym. If it hurts, stop doing it.
Pay attention to what works. Suppose you find a technique where the author says, "gather energy by breathing it into your lungs." But when you do so, the energy doesn't want to go there - it settles into your heart center. Don't write this off as you being unable to perform the technique, or some kind of lung blockage, or whatever. Maybe this is just where you hold your energy, you know? Don't try to make yourself a mediocre citizen of Conformity Town when you're already shining down on Individuality Way.
There is no key to energy work which is wholly divorced from practice. I have seen many people insist that they won't do energy work until someone tells them the real secrets - when presented with valid, community-tested, time-honored techniques, they scoff. It didn't work for them, they tried it twice. Real life is not a YA novel. There is no destiny stone or magic wand that is going to magically unlock special powers inside of you. This is athletics conditioning. If you can't bench press 100lbs today, that doesn't mean the coach is witholding secrets from you. It means you need to practice until you're able to perform the technique. Maybe situps fuck with your back and you need to replace them with planks, but nothing in the world is going to replace actual practice. Energy work is a skillset, like learning an instrument, and it requires physical conditioning, like being an athlete. Moving forward in either area requires practice.
I feel like energy naturally gathers in my head but I need to direct it to my chest or I'll get a headache. Does anyone else experience something like this?
If there is someone who has been harassing you, ask the powers that be to take them away from your vicinity.
Lock yourself in a bathroom, with a piece of natural paper, a wooden pencil and a black candle in hand.
Light the candle, and write on the paper the name of your villain. Pass the paper over the candle as you recite to the divine the reason you want this person out of your life.
When you are done expressing your worries, burn the paper and stare at it until all of it is ash. Blow out the candle as you thank the higher powers for their assistance. Then throw it away.
The people I have recently given this spell to have seen their abusers getting stuck in faraway places during and even after the lockdown.
Problem Solving Spell
If you are facing a dilemma, be it practical, intellectual or moral, ask your higher self for the best solution.
Acquire a small handful of these herbs: rosemary, lemon balm and peppermint. When combined, they invite clarity of mind.
Create a tiny sack from one of your old clothes. It does not have to look beautiful, but you need to sew it yourself. Put the herbs inside it.
Before you sleep, place the sack beneath your pillow, imploring your higher self to help you arrive at the best approach to your problem.
The solution will come to you in your dreams, as a straightforward answer or as symbols that will have a relevant meaning.
Pain Relieving Spell
If you are suffering from pain —physical, emotional or spiritual, activate the healing powers of salt, light and water to cleanse it all away.
On the witching hour, at three o’clock in the morning, run a hot bath for yourself. Place a cup of bath salt in the water.
Light as many tea light candles as the pains you wish to cure: one for your headache, another for your sore legs, a third one for your heavy heart, and so on. Place these candles on the bathtub ledge by your feet.
As you dive in and soak your body, visualize the heat of the water draining away your pains… the sharpness of the salt dissolving them quickly… and the light of the candles melting away any hurt left.
As the warmth of the water fades away, so will your every pain.
Made this fun little infographic about the sabbats for my non-witchy family to join in on the celebrations! Thought I’d share the love😊❤️ Dates are for the Southern Hemisphere! (If people want I can make another one with northern hemisphere dates)
