Tamaki Amajiki x Reader Part 1
Sometimes A Dream Is Just That
There he was in his usual spot; sitting by the window just lost in his thoughts. His chin rested comfortably in his palm and his pose was so natural, almost oblivious, to the energy he radiated. He was attractive in a way his shyness only enhanced.
Today was the day you were going to ask him out. Heâs too timid to do it on his own and, frankly, you were tired of waiting and making small advances. It was time and the plan was made. You knew Fatgum was busy with Kirishima today and Tamaki had nothing to do, but think.
âHey,â you tried to look natural turning the corner, âwhatcha thinkinâ?â Your smile was genuine, but bless All Might Tamakiâs quirk didnât include mind reading.
âOh, uh n-nothing really. D-did you need s-something,â heâs always been this way. Looking at him from afar, youâd never expect a stutter, but that was his charm; the unexpected.
âNothing really, I was just wondering if you were busy tomorrow around this time?â You were going straight for the kill. No dancing today.
âOh uh n-not really. Whatâs going on?â
âWell I know youâre working on expanding your quirk so I wanted to help,â it was something youâd want to do but not the reason. Just an excuse.
âHelp me?â He seemed to consider the possibility.
âYes, I can make some food that you havenât tried and maybe something you have yknow? Maybe you can expand on old ones too. What do you think?â You tried to hide the nervousness in your voice. Heâs got enough anxiety for the both of you.
âA-Alone?â He looked down at the floor fidgeting with his hands. He didnât mind being with friends because theyâd focus so much on each other heâd rarely have to exist more than 4 seconds in the conversation, but alone?
âUh,â you hadnât planned for it, but you shouldâve. Of course heâd be nervous about this. âWe donât have to be alone, but if your quirk comes out funny, I wouldnât want to have you embarrassed in front of everyone.â You smiles at him hoping thatâd calm his nerves even a little.
That was a stupid thing to say.
âY-you have a pointâŠ,â he mulled the idea over a bit.
Smart thinking. That was a great thing to say.
âSo, tomorrow? Same time?â Hopeful, you push for confirmation.
âY-Yea. Tomorrow.â He smiled a little. He almost seemed excited to go.
âGreat! What foods do you want to try?â
âââââââââ-
It was all together. You had prepared a real five star meal. Rordon Gamsey would be proud of the work you put in. You had meat of all kinds and sea food galore; even foods youâd never touch. A few burns and a trash can full of mistakes and you were ready to go.
You packed the basket throwing on your cutest smile before bolting our the door heading straight for the prize.
âââââââââ
He was sitting on the bench, same as yesterday, staring at his phone. The breeze picked up his hair in a way that felt unreal. His face always seemed somberâŠ
âTamaki,â you tapped his shoulder trying not to startle him, âyou okay?â He clicked his phone off and smiled up at you. Whatever was on that phone, he wasnât telling.
âY-Yeah. You can sit d-down with me,â he scooted over making room for you on the bench.
âThanks!â You plopped down as cute as one could sit. At this point is it trying too hard? âSo, first Iâve got grilled duck.â You pop open the basket and grab a stick. Once you find the bowl labeled âDaffyâ, you turn to give him the meat.
Heâs gonna love this, but do I feed it to him or do I hand it to him??? Shit.
âHere,â you tilt the stick for him to bite it, âopen wide!â Going for the forward approach, you let him bite off the stick. His face is already pink, but he doesnât reject it. He bites the duck and you watch him for any sign of approval.
âWow,â he swallows and gives you a thumbs up, âthis is so good.â He closes his eyes savoring the flavor of the duck. He chuckles a little not feeling much different.
âThanks, do you feel ducky? Anything?â He shakes his head, âno worries. Iâve got tons to go.â Determined you feed him the next one to get him; deer.
âWhat...what is that?â He seemed hesitant, but he knew what he signed up for.
âVenison. This one took...quite a bit of finding,â you tilted the meat towards him. He seemed slightly off-put, but he took a deep breath and bit before he could stop himself.
As he chewed and eventually swallowed he looked relieved. It wasnât nearly as bad as he thought. Delicious almost.
HAHA! Another winner. Iâll reel him in with this next one.
âPretty good huh?â You were smug, but how could you not be?
âHa, it is.â His face was far too red. Maybe he was getting into this or maybeâŠ.into you??
âSo, Iâve got another thing, but itâs more of a treat! Close your eyes!â He did as he was told. He was blushing and you could tell his eyes were darting back and forth. The way his lip was pierced closed, you began to wonder if this is what heâd look like right before heâd kiss you; blushing and waiting patiently.
Wake up. This is the move.
You pull out the container labeled âIcedâ and pop off the lid. Poking down, you pull out a mini cinnamon roll and lean it towards him. Pushing the stick towards his mouth, you rub icing on his lips.
What a beautiful mistake.
He instinctively licks his lips biting down on the sweet roll. The minute his mouth closes, he looks like heâs in heaven flying on the cloud you created for him.
âWowâŠ,â he didnât have much to say. It was delicious. âD-did you make that?â He gestured for another one and you happily obliged poking one more for him.
âI did,â you watch him eat the next one like heâs savoring a memory, âIâm happy you like it.â He was so happy it was rubbing off on you. His smile, the way the sun gleamed on his skin and surrounded him.
âThank you,â he smiled directly at you and quickly to the floor. You were the first girl to make something for him. It was a bonus to be so delicious. âIâm s-sorry nothing happened with m-my quirk.â
âItâs okay!â You fidgeted with the basket, âIâve got plenty more food to try, but,â you bit your lip trying to work up the guts to ask what you came here for, what you worked all night for.
âIs something wrong,â he was worried. He felt like he disappointed you.
âNo, itâs not you or something I was just wonderingâŠ,â now you were the one looking at the floor afraid, but you were going to say this. âI was wondering if you wanted to go out with me? Romantically?â
Nighteye himself couldnât have predicted how hot your face was. You couldnât even look him in the eye. Was it always this hard? To say these things? Why isnât he saying something.
âIâd be lucky to have someone like you,â you almost looked up. This was unreal.
His words shattered everything so quickly. He was providing an explanation or some kind of consolation, but it was just static. He had said no. Werenât you pretty? Maybe something was burned. You were sure heâd say yes. The weight of the room rested heavily on your shoulders. You couldnât look up.
His hand graced your face wiping off tears you didnât even feel pass your cheek.
âIâm sorry, I d-didnât realize this couldâve been a date. I-I just th-thought...I misinterpreted wh-what youâd meant. Iâm so sorry. D-donât cry,â he seemed so genuine. Even now, his sweetness burned like the ache in your throat.
âItâs okay,â you grabbed the basket almost on auto pilot and handed him what was left, âeverything is labeled. Some have weird names, but you can google it and definitely figure it out.â You rose from the bench.
âWait,â he reached for your arm, but you were a little faster dodging what wouldâve been a painful submission.
âYou can keep the bowl and the basket. Itâs okay.â You turned on your heel feeling the all too familiar ache in your chest creeping up your throat.
âP-please. Ju-just know it wasnât you!â His voice sounded so far away and pained, but so were you. You didnât respond. You didnât stop walking. Sometimes, even when everything is right, itâs wrong.
