I know Dana said she hates cliches but Luz bi panicking about Amity and Hunter would be pretty neat and totally not included as a cliche, right? ;)
I mean I loved their sibling dynamic too though but âšjust imagineâš
Ok but the way Marinette was scared about being in love with Adrien again made me so sad
Her eyes were saying âoh no please no I canâtâ in her conversation with Kagami and in the beginning of the umbrella scene
But as she remembers what Alya said to her earlier that day
SHE SOFTENED HER GAZE
NOW SHEâS NOT AFRAID OF FALLING IN LOVE AGAIN
thatâs way too beautiful for me I just canât
THIS SCENE.
Gang of Secrets X Chat Blanc - everything makes sense now:
OMG MARINETTE TOLD ALYA SHEâS LADYBUG OMG WHY HER? CHAT NOIR IS ALWAYS BY HER SIDE AND WOULD BE THE BEST OPTION, RIGHT?
No.
Marinette told her secret to Alya because she was the first person who broke the akumatization mind control - even if she were akumatized again, she can be free of it and it wonât be dangerous. Also, Shadowmoth wonât akumatize anyone who wonât try to do their job, itâs a waste of time. But why not chat noir?
That was the first question that appeared on my mind when I saw the final scene of Gang of Secrets. And thinking about it a little bit made me realize something. In chat blanc, chat noir was akumatized and couldnât do it - he was akumatized and destroyed the whole Paris before ladybug had the chance to change his mind. Ladybug (in the original timeline) discovered that he knew her identity and thought that this information couldâve caused all that stuff that happened (Bunnix didnât let her know the truth because âthere is a time for everything and time is a fragile thingâ) so she ended up thinking that she canât tell him. I think she could tell chat noir about her identity when things went rough, like right now, if:
If Chat Noir wasnât Adrien
If Adrien wasnât Hawkmoth/Shadowmothâs son
If Hawkmoth wasnât Gabriel
But thatâs not the case.
Time has passed and the weist on Ladybugâs shoulders grew with the new guardian title - when she saw what Alya could do, she was certain that, maybe, she couldnât have to be alone anymore.
The point is: their friendship is the most beautiful thing in the show and no one can tell me otherwise.
This kind of love Marinette has for Adrien needs to stop and hereâs why:
Guys, I really try to like Marinette and understand her (just like Luka lol) but she just... makes me feel too uncomfortable with her choices sometimes.
Adrien went to Shangai with his dad to do some work stuff and he couldnât go to some picnic with his friends so he was kind of sad about it. He didnât have a lot of bonding moments with the people he likes from school and he wants to spend time with them the most, after all, heâs just a teenager, he want to have fun and be loved. Okay, thatâs cute, Adrienâs cute we know that but MARINETTE ON THE OTHER HAND OHMYGAAAAHD
She just discovered that Adrien flew to Shangai by Alya and couldnât believe her friend âcause she (still) has the whole Adrienâs schedule in hands. So she decided that the best choice to do was to fly to Shangai to just to see him. WHAT??
I mean, okay, she still likes him, but I thought she was trying to forgive him somehow? I donât think thatâs a good method lol
Continuing, she decided to go to Shangai and not to go to the picnic Adrien longs so much to go - thereâs a difference in priorities here that just hurts me because now that sheâs the guardian she wonât have ANY time, so you probably should spend time with your friends instead of running to a guy you want to forget, right? Anyway, what she did to her friends was bad but not the worst. The worst part was her parents (oh my god her parents...)
So, she go to the bakery and tell her parents that she wants to go to Shangai because she wants to connect herself to her origins, her culture. AND GUYS, they were overwhelmed. Her mom was so happy and her dad almost cried and they showed her some money they were saving SINCE FOREVER because they knew that day will come. She lied to them just for some boy and made me feel bad for them and thatâs the reason why Iâm writing all this. I mean, let me just explain a little bit in case youâre not convinced that it was the worst.
Xia Ping was born and raised in China, moved to France, got her name changed to Sabine and fell in love with Tom. Iâm not an asian kid, but I know how important going to your ancestorsâ country is. Itâs a self-love and a self-knowledge experience that would change your life forever. But she just wasted all that development her parents wanted her to have when she chose go to there just because of a guy (she should be over with). I was truly heart broken when I saw a little box with money they where saving... she could just wait for Adrien to come back to France, go to the picnic and have a good time.
I wonât only bad mouth Marinette because there was some things that got me less mad about her.
She was, indeed, going to connect herself with her origins going to Shangai, and at the same time, have some real alone time with Adrien because no one else will be there, so she could just be happy and maybe something more, idk
They didnât tell us how much time Adrien was going to be away from Paris (one week, two months, we donât know) so maybe if it was a really long time MAYBE going to Shangai to see him wasnât a bad idea because she would miss him very much (she shouldnât but we already had that talk) and she would still have the time to find herself in Chinese culture. At the end of the episode we did see Marinette going through a tour and discovering knew things in Shangai in the final image of the episode, which was nice, it means that after all that stuff that happened, she still had the time to do the thing she should be doing there.
In conclusion, I just meant to say that I donât want to see that obsession Marinette has for Adrien ever again. Thatâs not love, thatâs worshiping and people around her should tell her that itâs not okay. Her obsession didnât think of her friends and family feelings, thatâs not healthy at all. It will appear some consequences from this âloveâshe thinks sheâs feeling in the future and it will be really bad for her, but thatâs growth, and itâs her turn now.

Otome Recommendations and Reviews

1. IKĂMEN REVOLUTION
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž âïž
A super fun otome and one I would suggest for people who plan on playing one. The story and art is beautiful and the soundtrack is a masterpiece. The characters themselves are very diverse when it comes to their looks and personalities and I adore them a lot. The international version of the game is two years late though, but if you plan on getting the Japanese one, itâs all up to date and production. The character development is so good and youâll just love the characters in general.
2. IKĂMEN SENGOKU
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž âïž
Hereâs a fan favorite. This is a fairly old game and the IOS version is a bit buggy in displaying the characters sometimes. But the story and characters themselves are awesome as frick like you will love them so easily. Itâs updating as well but is up-to-date in production so youâll be getting the same content as the Japanese version. It has a stage play, apparently an anime-in-progress (donât hold me to that) and the game is just the best. I love it and I know youâll love it.
3. Dangerous Fellows
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž
Where do I startâ oh yes, Eugene is best boi. This game is awesome and is one of the only otomes Iâve come across with a zombie apocalypse as itâs setting. I love the concept and characters (except for Scarlett, youâll know why) and the pacing is good on my end. However youâll need to spend a lot of money on the choices and items and overall, the game singles you out to make-do with one character whoâs route mainly consists of the free choices. You can get money though by logging in and such or playing the tapjoy games but itâs time consuming and honestly really disrupts the flow of the game. The routes are mainly just one timeline of events with the character interactions more on the character you appeal/are appealing to (think of Mystic Messenger with choices.) But overall, my experience with DF was a good one and I hope to see moreâ I.e that one game thatâs in full Korean,, please I need an English version Iâm begging you.
4. Wicked Wolves
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž âïž
Hey werewolf fans where you at. So this game is pretty decent and the characters are so well developed and diverse. Though the only complaint I have is that the âbridal lessonsâ (lessons you take to earn intimacy and such) is one-by-one and you donât have the option to do all of it at once. This very much frustrates me but isnât really bad and I wouldnât mind if they didnât change it. The story is kinda different for each character and itâs honestly a bit refreshing to know that a character has a different story in comparison to another. Overall, a good game which Iâd recommend.
5. Mystic Messenger
Rating: âïž âïž âïž
Oh yes, the infamous mystic messenger. So my issue with this mainly coincides with the fact that I have no time to log in every single hour of every day because Iâm a bloody high school studentâ but the game itself was enjoyable. I like the characters a lot (aka Zen because yes) and the experiences in each storyline are diverse for each character yet still sticks with the main concept and event thatâs happening. The concept of a text-based otome is new and I love it. Though hourglasses are what really pushes my buttons, since you have to pay using them to go back to play through chats youâve missed. And Iâve learned this the hard wayâ you canât progress if you havenât, which is, understandable but itâs honestly too much trouble. Overall an enjoyable game, though it caused a lot of sleepless nights on my end.
6. The Arcana
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž âïž
I love this game. The art and graphics are beautiful, the interface is neat, easily traversable and unique to the game. The soundtrack is the best out of all of the aforementioned games, the character design and art, the mini games, the character developmentâ I could go on and on. Though it does have a flaw like DF, where you have to pay for some of the choices, but itâs not as bad or needed and is just convenient for the player. This game is great for both guys and girls as well as for anyone in between or neither! You can choose your own pronouns and are introduced to a roster of characters of varying genders and have the same experience and content as any other player. This is a personal favorite which I love very much! The game is still updating for the last two routes, but you can enjoy still with the other four characters as well as side stories!
7. Princess Closet
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž âïž
The name will throw you off, I promise you that. But itâs not so bad and is honestly the most convenient and easiest otome out of all of these in the list. They donât have challenges or trials where you need a certain amount of intimacy or any paid options. Heck, you can blast through the game on your first day if you can seeing as you donât need anything to keep playing through the episodes like tickets or all that. Most of all, the plot is great and the characters are diverse. The interactions are great and suits the characterâs personality a lot. The soundtrack ainât too bad either!! Itâs a chill and cute game for laidback otome players.
8. Shall We Date: Blood and Roses AND Shall We Date: Angel and Devil +Reaper
Rating: âïž âïž âïž
(I put them together because I had the same concerns and overall rating for them)
These games comes from a title of a lot of other otome games like Mononoke kiss and all that. But B.A.R mainly focuses on monsters and vampires while ADR focuses on angels and demons (if you couldnât get it from the title itself), the interface is the same trademark kind youâd see in the other titles of the Shall We Date series but the characters themselves as well as the plot are likeable. Itâs been a while since Iâve played this game so Iâm not sure if they changed some bugs I saw, but my main issue were the challenges. The challenges would take so long to complete and were the most frustrating thing in the entire game, most so for me to drop it and move on. Itâs a good game with a lot of potential but the trials needs to be a bit more convenient for the players for them to able to enjoy the character and storyline.
9. 7 Hotties All My Husbands
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž âïž
Oh god yes. This game was the best from when I played it, the characters were so diverse and likeable as well as intriguing. Their different personalities alongside the ever-so-dramatic plot would keep you hooked for a LONG TIME. The trials were doable and convenient, the characters were loveable, they had enough interactions and the overall experience was breathtaking! An otome I would suggest for those interested in a dramatic romance where the plot thickens over time! And if you usually drop a game because thereâs nothing after the main routes, they have side stories and events too!
10. Wizard Tower
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž âïž
Alright, so playing this game was awesome and overall I miss it a lot. I say I miss it a lot because I havenât played in a very long time. This is because the game crashed a lot on my phone so I had to delete it. Though the plot itself resembles a Korean telenovela, the characters are the core of this game and is the reason as to why I love it so much after so long. Sylvester, my personal favorite, was a sweet boy and I honestly want to go back and replay the game if itâs been fixed. The plot and routes honestly made me swoon a lot, especially when it came to Sylvester.
Honorable mentions
Love Academy: Togo
Rating: âïž âïž âïž âïž âïž
Gosh darn it. So the company that made this game no longer exists so the game and the rest of the Love Academy series isnât accessible anymore. But this game was the first otome Iâve played and is the most memorable one. I loved the characters, the plot, the art, the soundtrackâ Iâm really sad I canât play it anymore. I might find itâs apk file somewhere but my paranoid ass probably wonât get it since as I said, Iâm paranoid. But the game was such an amazing experience and honestly I just wanna spend time with Togo again because he was just that loveable.
Not sure if this really counts butâ
ENSEMBLE STARS
Rating: âïžâïžâïžâïžâïžâïž
Yes I know thereâs six stars.
Ensemble Stars is an amazing game, itâs not a traditional otome (it is classified as such on Qooap) but it comes in a more card-collecting type of game where you can interact with the characters! Which btw, thereâs like 54 of them.
The version of the game Iâm playing is in Japanese tho, but thereâs the Korean and Chinese versions too if you can understand those languages. Itâll be getting the English version most probably after the anime drops in a few months (June/July) since well, yes.
(Edit: the news about an english server is a rumor going on since the anime has been well-recieved as of late. There is no official announcement sadly :â)) )
The game is super fun and enjoyable, and to be honest the experience is either youâre super laid back and enjoying the time spent with characters or youâve gone mad trying to get dias to get more cards. There is no in between.
You can choose the characters you want to âromanceâ and you can interact with them all at once (wow angas) and they have such an amazing soundtrack!! The game features different idol units which have their own songs and all that and itâs so cute! The songs are great and I love them a lot. (To those living in Japan, I envy you a lot since you can watch their live shows.) speaking of live shows, picture vocaloid concerts but instead of Miku or Luka or smth itâs groups of cute boys. They have physical copies of their albumsâ
So thatâs gonna conclude this list! If yâall have any questions about these games just ask me!

Norse and pagan background in Frozen 2
I have just watched the movie (a bit late, I know) and i couldnât help but notice all the references to the scandinavian myths and culture. Almost everyone knows by now that Disney took inspiration from Snow Queen fairy tale, so obviously the movie had to have some references to its cultural roots. However, I felt like the first installment lacked some representation. I mean, except for the fjords surrounding Arendelle, the clothing, the trolls and some younger futhark runes that appeared for like half a frame, thereâs not really that much elements. The movie looked like, dare I say, your generic classic tale about some European princess that happens to live in the cold. I like to think that Disney is aware of that and they decided to dive deep into the norse setting of the story in the sequel.
The major force that drives the plot forward is the voice that calls for Elsa throughout the movie and in the song Into the Unknown. The concept of that voice is based on the âkulningâ practice, which is a traditional herding call used by scandinavian farmers to call for livestock from the top of the pastures. Kulning has a deep cultural and musical importance, as it has inspired the famous norwegian composer Edvard Grieg to write some of his classical compositions.
Now letâs talk about the spirits. The most iconic one for me was the water one, and itâs based on shapeshifting water spirits from germanic mythology. In their scandinavian rendition, they have many names, and can be called nĂžkk, nĂ€cken or nĂ€kki. Being shapeshifters, they could take on many forms, and when they transformed into animals, the most common form was of a brook horse, called bĂ€ckahĂ€st or bĂŠkhest. The horses would appear near rivers during foggy weather, and would try to drown anyone who tried riding on them, but they could be harnessed if the rider had the ability to do so. This is exactly what Elsa does! Fun fact: the modern name of the nĂžkk comes from the old norse word nykr, which means âriver horseâ.
And then we have the earth giants, which are an obvious reference to the well known Jötnar! In norse myths, giants come in all sizes and types, and Frozen 2 decided to go for the ones who are in fact giant, and bound to the earth element instead of fire and ice. Giants in norse lore are known for being very intelligent and wise, so apparently the movie decided to take another route and resort to the âstone man who canât talkâ trope. Anyway, itâs an interesting design, and I loved their role in the story. It was really rewarding seeing Anna come that far and sacrificing everything for the sake of her people.
And of course, we have the cute salamander that was totally not made to increase the profit from plushies selling. Jokes aside, salamanders and lizards are said to be fire elementals in traditional witchcraft beliefs, and they also happen to be part of norse mythology in the form of serpents and dragons, like the famous NĂðhöggr, the Midgard serpent Jörmungandr and the former dwarf turned dragon FĂĄfnir.
Thereâs also the air spirit, which probably was inspired by the sylphs, air elementals that also come from traditional witchcraft beliefs.
I liked Frozen 2 way more than the first one, and the more darker and mature themes, along with all the cultural and mythological references were the main reason. You can see the producers really put their hearts on that movie, and every little aspect of it was very well thought so it could have a solid background and was able to fit well into the narrative. While the first movie was about coming to terms with who you really are, the sequel is about accepting change. Just like the world is bound to be reborn after the Ragnarök, our fate also is to change. Anna and Elsa embrace it, and even though it may seem bad at first, they do it because itâs necessary.
My headcanon is that Frozen 2 is an obvious allegory of the impeding doom of the Ragnarök (Arendelleâs destruction by the flood) and the rebirth of the world after it (the kingdom being ruled by Anna and Kristoff), and I really find that beautiful.
everyone: HAPPY NEW YEAR! GOODBYE LAST DECADE, HELLO NEW ONE! 2020 WILL BE THE YEAR OF PRODUCTIVITY, POSITIVITY, AND GOOD THINGS!
me, having my millionth existential crisis and painfully aware of the passage of time:
Their ice creams donât match luka and kagami.
Their ice creams match themselves
In season four theyre going to learn more about themselves as a person, and how to love themselves.
Growth.

Could you imagine the situation if it was Luka who got paired with Marinette instead of Kagami?
Her being even more awkward because she is trying to find her âone true loveâ, when she is with the boy whoâs in love with her (that she also has some feelings for)
Anyone who can write this?
All I can say to Gabriel on no longer being Hawk Moth in the future is...
