Finally had the time to post the summary of our amazing meal at #belcanto, the 2 Michelin star restaurant in #Lisbon. The signature dish "the garden of the goose that laid the golden eggs" did not disappoint and the meal close with a strong finish with the mandarin dessert. Best Sunset on Santorini

Cedric and I stayed in Santorini for 5 days and we’re at different places each day for the Sunset. At the end I think we liked the sunset best at our Airbnb in Firostefani. It was quiet and we’re sitting right outside of our apartment sipping wine.

If you are not staying on the side of caldera and are still trying to find a great place for the perfect sunset, I got a few tips for you.

Oia The best sunset spot is still at Oia and I would recommend going to the restaurant for the sunset. Ammoundi Taverna is the place I’d recommend. Down at the bottom of the hill, right by the water, eating lobster pasta with a glass of wine is the perfect match for the sunset.

Imerovigli Imerovigli has a relatively high point right before Oia. The restaurants there are quite expensive as well and the day I was supposed to go was really cloudy so we canceled it. This will be the place I’d stay next time if I didn’t need to be closer to Fira.

Sunset Cruise We’ve chartered a boat and enjoy a few hours out on the water and anchored outside of Oia for the perfect orange sunset. This is undoubtedly the best sunset in Santorini without obstruction, but you’ll inevitably get a few pictures with various yacht in front of you. Also this option is ultra fun if you have a group of friends! It quickly escalated into booze cruise.

The 2nd comment is what gave people who are trying to be sustainable a bad name and it’s really frustrating. The top thread was asking what’s the alternative to plastic garbage bags and here he/she is lecturing people.

Why can’t we just celebrate people who are at least trying and not put them down? I’d say trying is much better than doing nothing. Asking people to completely change their life style all of a sudden without alternative is impossible.

While I’m taking a break from traveling...

I believe that you can’t change the way how people live, but you can change the way how they live it. Modern society enabled us to live in convenience and it’s something we, as human begin so accustomed to.

The problem with the sustainability movement is that it’s we’re asking people to rid of their convenience. As much as we like to, being lazy is damn great and so we’re still not moving any needles in sustainable living.

I’ve recently took on a personal challenge to eat healthier and reduce waste. One of the goals that I set is to reduce the use of plastic bags. I’m happy to finally announced that I’ve gotten rid of all plastic bags in my household!

It means that I had not taken in any new plastic bags and I’ve reused the ones I have as much as I can until I use it as garbage bags. Now using plastic bag as garbage bags is still causing environmental damages but frankly I don’t know what else to use for garbage bags.

It also poses a problem for me now. What do I use as garbage bags?

I’m happy to say that I’ve found a solution! There’s a company in Singapore called Olive Green that produces corn based disposables. They have cutlery, plates and garbage bags. While they’re 100% biodegradable, they’re only 70% compostable. While it may not be the best solution, it’s the best alternative I can find.

While I haven’t found the best solution to my problem, at least I’m not doing as much damage as I used to. 70% compostable is better than 0% compostable, wouldn’t you agree?

#nofilter needed for the sunset at Bruce's look out in #gerupuk. Bruce has been living in #gerupuk for over 7 years and have pretty good recommendations around. #gerupuk is literally a village in #Lombok. You're living amongst the locals who are living there, chickens running around and almost no street lights.
