Blue’s Feathers and Wings Compendium: Atypical Wing Shapes
Part 1 [Standard ]| Part 2 [Atypical] | Feather Markings | Tail Feathers
These wings are a small array of Atypical wing shapes, complete with flippered wings, flightless wings, and fancy plumes. Again, creating my own names for some of these wing types since there isn’t any official naming of the different shapes, and I want to make it easily understandable for others rather than complicating these things with academic names.
Blue’s Feathers and Wings Compendium: Standard Wing Shapes
Part 1 [Standard ]| Part 2 [Atypical] | Feather Markings | Tail Feathers
I have expanded the traditional 4 types; Highspeed, Elliptical, Low Aspect and High Aspect ratio, because they were very narrow and vague categories for the most part, adding High Energy, Thermal Soaring, Night Glider, and Passerine wings. I feel that these extra types make it easier to understand and visualize the differences and similarities between wing shapes.
I’ve renamed Low Aspect to Powered Soaring, and High Aspect to Dynamic Soaring for the purposes of the fact that names made it hard to understand purpose and were easily confusable.
A lot of these wing types are also affected by tailfeather shape and size, and that will change their agility and energy expenditure as the tail also generates lift.

Thinking about the au again, and I had a thought. Mark and Dark have huge wings, and while Dark has the ability to just not have wings, Mark does not. So I came up with a solution, and it's magic, so I can do what I want!
I know that some aus give winged the ability to tucks wings away, but I never really liked that, so I thought of something else. Wing forms (there's another word??), specifically flight and ground.
Flight form, would be the wings fully extended. While ground form would be a smaller more manageable wing size, allowing the wings to be safely and easily hidden from sight.
So Mark's 17' (I don't recall exact length) wings, would esentially "shrink" to around arms length. He takes unhealthy measures to keep them hidden.
It had been three months of searching, since Antigone went missing, three long months of torture for Orion. And neither he nor his brother Kalisto had been able to find Anti, any leads were just deadends. He kept his necklace on at all times, three glass beads that were magicked and connected to a matching necklace that Antigone wore, allowing the wearer to speak to and find the other. There was never any answer to his calls.
Antigone had gone to see his mom, it was supposed to have been a short visit to the mirror dimension, promised he’d be back in the morning, but Antigone had never came back home. And then the killings started.
Horribly mutilated bodies were being found scattered across the city, sometimes in pieces left hanging in view for all to see, or abandoned in alleys with their throats slit. Strange symbols were carved into the skin of all the victims. It hadn’t meant anything to him at the time, there was no connection between these people, until it came out that they were all demigods and their families, until the symbols had finally formed his name in Antigone’s bell sounding language.
Rain was pouring down now, making it hard to see more than a few feet at a time. Orion was bolting through the streets, quickly taking to the roof tops to avoid any people that were still wandering around. He had heard screaming, it was so faint that he wasn’t even sure if he was actually hearing it. Until he saw the plants, a vague trail of rotting vines and wilting flowers. The plants were getting denser, the screaming fainter the closer he got, entire buildings and streets almost completely covered in rotting foliage. A mockery of their usual beauty, the only one who had abilities like this was Antigone.
“Fuck!” Orion's foot caught on one of the vines, launching him from the rooftops to the muddy ground below. He laid there for a moment, not caring as he was already soaked through to the bone, slowly catching his breath. Orion suddenly sat up as his senses finally caught up, the screams had stopped, and the rain wasn’t falling on him anymore.
Pushing himself off the ground and out of the puddle, there were plants completely taking over the entire alley, creating a canopy that blocked out the rain. Orion jumped as something wrapped around his ankle and pulled hard, making him fall back to the ground.
“Get off!” Orion slammed his hand to the vine slowly climbing up his leg. It sizzled and began to burn as his fire boiled and evaporated any water it touched.
The vine had managed to drag him further into the rotting tunnel, there were flowers all around now. There were lilies, cyclamens, hyacinths, forget-me-nots, and so many more decomposing and falling from the canopy as he got back up again.
There was a faint light ahead, “Antigone?” He walked on, the flowers were starting to give off a faint red glow, get brighter further in. “Please, please talk to me!” The tunnel was much deeper than it should have been.
And there he was, three months of searching and Antigone was just standing there. As if he had been waiting for Orion, he was covered in blood, a knife in hand. Eyes glowing a harsh green against the red glow of the flowers, instead of their usual gold, there was no recognition.
“Anti?” Orion slowly stepped closer, there was a body behind Antigone, flowers and vines were already taking over it. Antigone gave no sign that he was even aware of what was going on. His eyes seemed to suddenly glow brighter, and Orion had to jump back to avoid being slashed by the knife.
“Kaes ef ataksi yytr tzffb.” The words were harsh and unnatural, it sounded nothing like the usual bells and bird chirps Antigone would sometimes speak with.
“What?” This wasn’t his intended, his body yes, but it wasn’t Antigone occupying it. Orion wanted to scream.
“Wt, kc pfs laf'h lebmdkhreb, pao iewmzfmbrkc.” Antigone looked disappointed almost angry with him.
“Who- What did you do to him!” Every sense was screaming at Orion to run, but he couldn’t, he needed to know. There were plants suddenly pulling him down flat on the ground, they were regrowing faster than he could burn them.
“Q me bf flm ax mflp kafqvil jaq, plk rpuk osfkqzshzfl qe ewev lwi, qcl jfwgdr yrtm ewse ygu. Tw dlk sx emqy r dqszh nycv kgi bvnb oszczlo rgf yzk.” Antigone was standing above Orion now, feet on either side of his waist.
“Stop!” The sound of the voice was hurting his ears leaving Orion disoriented, he couldn’t focus enough to keep burning the plants.
“Qf'k mflp nmmzk, zd gam vrul'b wwdk tytxabx ngbt lvzj lmoczrtc,” Antigone was suddenly grabbing the necklace he was wearing, tearing it off and letting it fall to the ground. “Pq oclcbv'f zomv dwgyvk dc aa zoiu yvp A kfljlz'l vrmc pmv hf vpiew smvpgfzwex fm isg.” He dropped do sit on Orion’s chest, knife held to his own neck, blood already beading where it touched.
“Stop! Please stop hurting him!” Orion tried to buck Antigone off, but the plants held firm as he watched, his beloved slice his own throat open. There was so much blood pouring from the ever growing wound. He was starting to hyperventilate, the vines were constricting further to stop his struggling, he couldn’t breathe.
Bloody hands were suddenly on his face wiping away tears, when had he started crying? There was a harsh tug and his own necklace was ripped from him and was dropped to the ground with it’s match.
“Gam dffp btabx.” The knife was plunged into his throat.
———
Jackie was sitting up suddenly, hand to his throat as he started crying, he was ok, he was home in bed. Kalisto his brother, Silver, had come to save him before the situation had gotten that far, but he couldn’t stop the sheer panic from taking over him.
He nearly fell off the bed when something moved beside him, a tired voice spoke up, “Jackie?” Anti. Anti was here, he was safe and sane again, and-
Anti was wrapping him up in a hug, “Hey it’s ok, I’ve got you,” he was rubbing circles into Jackie’s back, trying to calm him down.
He pressed his face into Anti’s shoulder, not caring to silence his sobs as he held Anti tight. Jackie was grateful that he didn’t ask about the dream, the memory brought just as much pain to his fiance as it did for him. He didn’t want to make the other relive all the awful things he had been forced to do while possessed. So for now they would just stay in each other’s arms trading kisses and words of comfort.
Glass was scattered all around them, their soft white glow making the shards sparkle like stars. Their shoulders shook with silent sobs, the tiny bundle shifted in their arms. A child. Their child, born from sacrifice, they had been foolish to think that they could create without sacrifice. Narci curled around the sleeping child, they didn't envy them, but to be blissfully unaware of the loss surrounding their creation would be nice.
Hagne had been a good friend, the lesser spirit, had taught them how to live in this desolate place. “Mirror dimension” she had called it, as it reflected the human's world. It didn't though, the ground was shattered leaving grey, floating islands throughout the inky abyss. Reflective surfaces were scattered about all around, there were people in them sometimes, previously the only source of color here, but very rarely were the people consistent.
The loud man, with the odd contraption on his head, had caught their attention years ago, one of the only consistent reflections. The mirror was shattered now, the pieces weren’t fading like they should, his familiar voice echoed quietly from them. That was good, It meant it could be fixed, but not by them, not anymore. How fitting that her little one be created from his mirror, an unfortunate tie they had tried to avoid. To break it now would only hurt the child, and leave the little one as colorless and trapped as they were.
Rising shakily, careful not to wake the baby, they wiped stray tears from their face. He was beautiful, and they already loved him so much. There was some discoloration along his neck, it didn't seem to bother him though so they weren't too worried about it.
They spoke quietly, the sound soft like bells, not something that a human could make, “I will call you Antigone.”
And even though they had lost a friend, this was the happiest they’ve been in a long time. And for the first time, the surrounding darkness wasn't as suffocating.
Notes:
I was trying to write more than this, but my attention span is shit, so I just felt like posting what I did have written. Feedback would be nice, but a like is ok too.
Sorry, I know this probs seems annoying but it helps me get it together- what is like each ego in this AU and could you POSSIBLY give an explanation, please?
Ok I’m finally gonna do this! This will however be super long so, for now, just the septicegos.
Jack: He’s a witch! Jack isn’t as long lived as the others, but his family is well known among the mythic/cryptid community as healers and protectors. He’s a bit of a wild card with his magic, one of his spells backfired and blinded him in one eye. However this caused Sam to be created, a helping eye that Jack can see through, Sam usually stick to Jack’s blind side. Jack still does youtube videos, but he puts sigils in his room that mark him and his home as a sanctuary to any non-humans that watch his videos. He’s very well protected by those that he give sanctuary to.
Anti: Anti’s given name is Antigone, oldest of all the mythics, he’s a hybrid mirror creature (not demon) and Greek god. He’s kind and loving, and can make plants grow as he walks, Anti becomes a bit of a plant and harvest deity later in his life. Anti hates the gods for what they did to his parental and tends to cause mischief if they’re ever involved with something directly or indirectly. He’s Jackie’s fiance, but weeks before their wedding Anti disappears and a string of murders are committed.
Jackie: Jackie’s original given name is Orion, and he is a demi god, about two years younger than Anti. Full of life, love, and laughter. Always determined to do the right thing and prove that demi gods weren’t bad people because of their lineage, but after his fiance went missing and turned up as a (unwilling) killer. Jackie became cold to everyone around him even leaving his half brother Kallisto (Silver Shepherd) behind. He became a sort of vigilante through the years protecting people in small ways with what little magic he had. Now as it becomes harder to use magic freely, he lives a semi normal life as a police officer by day and vigilante at night.
Chase: He’s a werewolf and the youngest mythic of both groups! Chase was forcefully turned when he and Stacy moved states away from her family, she left to protect him from the aggressive pack in the area, but it didn’t help. And after weeks of mindlessly wandering Dr. Iplier found him and the Ipliers helped him gain control of his newfound powers, and become part of Google’s and Bing’s pack.
Marvin: A self proclaimed Nekomata (cat monster/demon) Marvin is closed off and un-trusting of the world around him, but he wasn’t always this way. Marvin was a witches familiar, whom was killed during the Salem witch trials after the Jim twins accidentally revealed her home. He loved her very much and was always curios of everything, he never learned that she was his mother and that she only became a witch to undo and curse put on him by a demon. nothing ever worked because he had to want to become what he was supposed to be and in his anger at the twins, her magic finally worked, but only half way, as the curse couldn’t be broken by her. only modified. Marvin is now acting as Jack’s familiar and teacher.
Henrik: fourth oldest of all the mythics (under Jackie and Silver) Henrik is a willingly turned vampire and (of course) was once a doctor in Germany. He was a bit of a hermit, as most people didn’t trust him and his medicine, even though it worked well. He was a quiet man with a passion for medicine and the arts, until a wounded young man, Anti, shows up at his door, they become fast friends and word travels round that there’s a doctor willing to take care of mythics/cryptids. Anti leaves Henrik with a piece of glass, saying that he could be contacted through it. And Henrik becomes the go to doctor for all non-human people, however during one of his rare visits from another actual human. He contracted a lethal disease, the mythics were not about to lose him and they offered him a way to continue living, and he took it.
JJ & Robbie: Jameson Jackson, a normal man, or the most normal out of everyone in the sanctuary. When he was young JJ was blessed with luck that was channeled through his voice, he got everything he wanted. And everyone wanted to be around him because of how lucky and charming he was, but he let it go to his head. He pissed off a dryad while in America and thought nothing of it when he returned home, but his little brother, Robbie, started having problems with the local fae in England. Robbie became fae touched and stolen away, in a desperate act, JJ gave up his voice and luck for the safe return of Robbie. the poor boy, however, was never the same and tends to wander and stare off into space a lot, he is getting better though! JJ and Robbie later met Marvin, who accidentally cast a spell on them, and now they seem to be immortal.
Heck yeah! Also sorry this is so long, I can't do a read more on mobile.
He's a naga and his snake half is paterned like a garter snake, with beautiful browns and golds. He did have his days as The Author, but he didn't have his powers until after he was blinded.
The Host is very mellow, especially after he was chased out of his previous home, by humans and other mythics/cryptids who were also being forced to move.
However Host eventually ends up living with King, a dryad, King allows him to stay and in return Host uses his narration powers to keep his forest hidden from humans.
They've been living in this forest together for around 200 years. King, however, doesn't allow him to stay because of the protection Host's magic guarantees, but rather Host needed the saftey that King could provide.
When they first met King's forrest was huge, but it was already a fith of the size it used to be. All because of humans destroying anything they wanted just because they wanted to be in that specific spot. Host had seen the forrest before, he lived on the outskirts of King's territory and was always respectful of the boundary marked by mushrooms that circled the entire forest.
After Host was blinded a demi god named Kalisto found him, and offered to try and give him a solution to his problem. It wasn't perfect and sometimes caused Host discomfort or pain, but Host now had his narration powers. However while he was still getting used to his new ability, Host had wandered to close to humans in search of food. Because everything either lived in King's territory or was drove off by the humans.
Host ended up accidentally crossing the border trying to get away from the humans that had begun to track him down. King found Host in a hollowed out tree trunk, right in the center of the forest, neither King or Host have any idea how he managed to fit inside.
And from then on King started to take care of Host, it took a long time for Host to accept the help from King. When he tried to leave King would make the forest like a maze and lead him right back to the clearing. Host was stubborn, but King was more so.
Eventually Dark found them, with his wish to create a safe place for others like them, and with his ability to strengthen Host's barrier. They let Dark build a manor within the clearing, and the home was slowly filled with other mythics. Some finding them and other being brought in because of injuries or assoiciation with them.
Hello your au is really interesting, are you planning on having all of Mark's egos be involved in it? Also are there any ships?
Thank you!
I do plan on having all the Iplier egos, some aren't listed in the "iplier sanctuary" page because I haven't thought of a mythic/cryptid status for them. I really don't want characters to be human, but a few are, like Bim and Jack.
I have many ships planned! Anti/Jackie, Marvin/chase, Wil/Dark, those are the ones that are 100% confirmed. I have some tenative ones, but I haven't decided if I want to keep them or not.
Hey, hello, I know it's been a long ass time. Since I know I'm never getting anywhere with this, I'm just going to tell all my plot points!
So if you haven't read the post about the Jim twins, I suggest taking a look at it, although this could probably stand on it's own. But if you have read it then you know that the Jim twins accidentally got Marvin's witch killed.
~ I'm sorry this is so long ~
Now lets take it back about 18 or so years before she was killed. Her name was Joyce, a very lovely young woman, she worked hard and never got into any trouble. Joyce was married to a very nice man, they had been together for 3 years. Everything was normal, nothing out of the ordinary with them or their town.
Except Joyce was a bit of an outcast, she preferred to be out in the forest gathering herbs and berries. A lot of people thought that her husband would set her straight, but he didn't he liked the things she brought back.
However during one of her gather expeditions she came across a very dangerous being, that liked to toy with people. Her husband was killed and she was cursed, or so she thought. Turns out it had cursed her child. Marvin was tiny, she got to spend a month with her child before the curse fully took hold. She found a kitten instead of her baby.
Joyce spent the rest of her life learning magic, trying to reverse, then modify, the curse. She never got to see that one of her spells had worked. All it needed was a little cooperation from the cursed, to bad it was her death that caused it.
Marvin didn't know that his witch was his mother, he didn't know that the twins had made a promise to Joyce. After marvin cursed the twins, he wandered around learning magic and how to be human. He ended up hearing about nekomatas, he thought he was one, it made the most sense.
Marvin ends up across the ocean, and meets a strange vampire, who happens to be a doctor named Henrik. They become good friends and end up traveling together for a long time. Henrik tells tales about an old divine being that can travel between dimensions, and another doctor like him. They part ways after a while, and Marvin eventually makes his way Ireland and ends up becoming a familiar for a family of witches.
He takes a liking to the youngest of the new generation. Seán was adorable, and Marvin would take care of him. No matter what.

This is for my Mythic!au
Bing had been working on a project when the twins burst in looking like they had the story of the century. Dog toys were suddenly being dumped in front of him, “what’s all this for?” He was confused, excited, but confused. Where did the twins even get all of these, were the twins even allowed out of the manor?
“We’ve been googling ways to keep you entertained, and what better way to keep a dog happy and entertained than dog toys!“ RJ said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world, and to the Jims it probably was.
There were all sorts of toys, it was getting hard to ignore the urge to transform and let loose. CJ was digging through a bag full, while RJ just looked on expectantly. Who gave them the money for all this?? "Yes that’s true, but why are you giving them to me? I’m not following.”
“We’ve noticed that you’ve been sad since Chase left, and we wanted to help you feel better.” RJ continued, “So, we wanted to know if you’d like to play with us? You know, in your dog form?”
That was probably the most innocent request ever, Chase leaving had been devastating, so Bing decided to work on projects to distract himself. He didn’t really think anyone had noticed, but here were the twins trying to cheer him up with dog toys and the promise of play time.
So who was he to say no to such an innocent request, “Yeah, lets go play.”
Marvin used to be an witch’s familiar until the witch was killed during the witch trials. His anger, and exposure to magic, allowed him to become a nekomata. Over the years the anger subsided and Marvin traveled all over until he ended up in Ireland, and is now Jack’s teacher and familiar.
So this is a bit of an older design, but this is what Jack’s full outfit would roughly look like. I figured I should at least post this since this is never going to be finished,
9 with whomever likes pasta the most (or whomever you think it would go best with)
Jack was in the kitchen with Mark, helping to make dinner for everyone, laughter and yelling coming from the dinning room. "You think we made enough?"
"Not if Bing and Chase get to everything first" Jack's teasing tone making the avian laugh. Making sure to keep his wings tucked, sohe didn't knock something over.
It was great to have everyone together after so long, the ocean between them making it difficult for visiting. So Jack was pleasently surprised to receive a call from Dark, asking him to making the trip over. Apparently Dark was sick of hearing Mark complain about Bing and Edward. Who had both been, not so subtlely, hinting about wanting to see the others.
"You're not wrong Mark," the thought of how much those two could eat sent Jack into a fit of giggles, but seeing Mark stir an almost overflowing pot of spaghetti had him doubling over, "but Jessus that's a lot of pasta!"
Mark's wings had fluffed in indignation, "Did I overestimate the ammount of pasta? Yes! Am I sad about it? Absolutely not!" And Mark couldn't hold the straight face anymore, they both started laughing, the sound mixing with the others mingling, it was good to be together.
Dark was quickly losing patience with the young wolf, "Yes Chase, it seems you can communicate with the dead." The ability had been discovered, a few hours ago. When Chase had caught him talking with his soul pieces, Celine and Damien. He had expected Chase to be oblivious to them, he hadn't expected Chase to apologize for interupting and then proceed to introduce himself to the two.
"You’re telling me I can communicate with the dead?" Chase completely ignored Dark's grumbling, "Can I communicate with my childhood dog? They were such a good dog!”
