THIS IS THE MOST PROFOUND POST EVER
I bet they got that from Greece. They had shelves and stands of dick models and dick can openers

So after our trip to the capitol we had a bit of free time. Washington however was extremely hot and to make matters worse I got lost. Whilst we were lost a very secret police car drove past which helpfully stated it was part of the secret service (does that not defeat the purpose of it being, you know, secret?). In the end we went back to the meetup point early. On the way we discovered several water features which we would have died from heat without! At our meet up point outside the capitol I climbed a tree which has loads of graffiti including the face above. For some reason I took more selfies on this day than I have done in my life.
M’lady These were our finds in Philadelphia: the rainbow fedora we played Frisbee with and a Jesus bobble head.

Everywhere you go in America there seems to be airport style security. The capitol was very strict on their no food or liquids rule including sun cream and water. However despite x-raying my bag and then a man opening and searching my bag he didn't notice I had sun cream! To be honest I didn't even know I had sun cream with me till the very end of our trip. We were lucky enough to see the House of Representatives and the Senate in action
Washington Monument Day and Night
Tuesday 24th June 2014
This was the day we traveled to Washington D.C. We had a 3 hour stop in Philadelphia which is depicted above. For lunch I stupidly ordered 2 pizza slices not realising how big American portions are. There were lots of horses around as we tried (and failed) to find the Liberty Bell. We ended up playing frisbee with the rainbow fedora we bought.

In the evening, we went up the empire state building. The views were fantastic particularly as there was an amazing sunset but, unfortunately, my camera ran out of battery as my finger was in the process of snapping a picture of said sunset.

Today was the day of our boat trips to Liberty and Ellis Island. We had to go through yet more security to get to the boats and whilst we were queuing one of our group bought an Puerto Rico umbrella hat thinking it was a USA one. The statue was amazing but you also get good views of the New York skyline and we could see the new World Trade Centre.
Reflections make the building look really flippin cool
Sunday 22nd June 2014
In the morning we had a talk with a civil rights veteran about all the things he'd been through in order to move improve rights for people of colour and the sort a racism we deal with today. In the afternoon we went to central park which was incredibly beautiful. One member of our group managed to get spectacularly lost with a relative of his whom he'd gone to meet but other than that the day went smoothly. I discovered my love for the honey roasted nuts on from the street vendors and we were allowed some free time on 5th Avenue where I bought a dress from H&M.

For tea we went to the Hard Rock cafe in Times Square. I'd never been before so I didn't know what to expect but it was amazing (well the items on the wall anyway). We then proceeded to see Matilda in broadway. It was a great show to watch with catchy songs however some of the lighting choices were questionable in my opinion. The people next to me thought I was from London and after I told them I was Scottish they told me they loved my accent. I thought this was a myth that Americans like our accents but apparently not.
Saturday 21st June 2014
Despite our lack of sleep we were all up at 6:30. We went to the Top of the Rock via the public library and Times Square for the amazing views. In the afternoon we went to Grand Central to catch the subway to the 9/11 memorial. I didn't take any pictures as I felt it was disrespectful to do so but the memorials were beautiful despite what they were commemorating. The museum too was sombre.
