If it's not too much I'd love to hear your review of the cats movie once you see it! Been following for years and I'd love to hear your opinions on it! Might make me consider on seeing it myself XD

Well, I've only watched it twice so far. The first time I wasn't really willing to give it a fair chance, and the second time I was watching with a friend and so my attention wasn't entirely focused. I think I have to watch it once more to finalize my thoughts. In any case, I'm sure every aspect of it has already been discussed to death here (I wouldn't know because I haven't been looking in the CATS tags for... a very long time), and I truly don't have anything new or insightful to add :-\ I didn't hate it actually, but I don't think I can say that I liked it. What I did like, however, were the scenery and backgrounds and general environment. It was very pretty. I think that's the most positive thing I have to say about it...

Hai, this might be a weire request, but I'm hoping you can help. I was wondering if you could help me find some lost Cats content. A girl on Tumblr did a video (maybe audio?) cover of the Rum Tum Tugger. She did an excellent job, but I can't seem to find her anywhere. All I can remember was that the singer didn't show her face, instead it was up at a car ceiling, the post had around 30 likes, and her blog palette was beige. I know this sounds like a lot, and if it sounds like too much then don't fret over it (I apologized if I annoyed you in any way). Thanks!

They added songs in nearly every movie musical they made in the last twenty years... Learn to be lonely for Phantom, Suddenly for Les Mis, Class for Chicago... and they somehow fit. But this new song feels out of place, especially after Memory (on that matter, I agree with the last anon... It can't be followed). And I'm afraid they're going to butcher Demeter and Bombalurina's characters.

Yeah I’m not holding out much hope for Demeter to be who she is in the musical. But I at least hope that, even if she’s different, she is not as bland and generic as the trailers make the non-celeb Cats seem. We shall see.

What do you think about the new song featured in the movie, Beautiful Ghosts? I read that it will follow Memory and it will be sung be Victoria. I think you just CAN'T follow Memory. It's supposed to be the climax of the whole story.

I haven’t listened to the song; I’m just gonna wait to see/hear it in context when I see the movie. From what I’ve been picking up from various reactions, it’s really a nice song, but not really fitting for CATS? To me, It feels utterly wrong to add a song to the show, but I’ll try to reserve judgment. Ugh I just hope it won’t somehow make it into the stage version.

I agree about the placement after Memory, too, but perhaps it could come after Act 1 Memory? Still a strange choice. Everything about this movie is a strange choice.

sry if u've already answered an ask like this & i just wasnt looking hard enough, but how do u hc demeter& jemimas relationship? i see jemima as the daughter of demeter and macavity, w/ demeter having run away from macavity to the jellicles while pregnant with jemima. i love the idea of all the cats being v protective over both of them. personally i dont ship munk and demeter all that much (im in Rarepair Hell with munk/skimble sgdhk) but i view munk as a sort of adopted father to jem regardless

My headcanon pretty much the same! I can’t not see them as mother&daughter (by Macavity). I have a tiny tribute to their criminally miniscule interactions in the video here.

And YES, I have the same exact thought that the entire Tribe immediately took them both under their wings. Bombalurina, of course, probably had a lot to do with that. In my fics, Jenny and Jelly especially become protective over Demeter (in addition to Alonzo and Munk), and that Etcetera is determined to be a big sister figure to Jemima (stemming from herself being a little sister to Victoria).

The song "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2 got me thinking about your headcanon of Demeter being like a daughter to Grizabella. Based on the context of the song, Demeter and Griz could have once been close, spending time together like mother and daughter. Then "the years went by, (Demeter) stayed the same, and (Griz) began to drift away." After Griz left the tribe, poor Demeter felt forgotten. Years later, when the two queens reunite at the Ball, they rekindle their strained bond.

I…I…am never going to stop thinking about this. I already get so emotional over these two and their bond, and now you do this to me.

hi i thought you might be interested to know that i've wanted to see Cats live ever since i saw the video for the first time and now i'm finally getting to bc the tour is going to be here in a couple of weeks and my best friend got tickets for us and i'm super psyched to see my boi Tugger and my baby girl Jemima live onstage for the first time

AWESOME!! I am so happy for you! It will be a dream come true and you will LOVE it! I feel the same way about seeing Demeter as you do about Tugger and Jemima!

I myself got to see the Tour last month, and all I want is to see it again (and again, and again, and again! Hopefully I can make that happen).

Hello! (I know this is an old ask, I’m sorry)

Nothing too crazy or interesting, I fear (I’m not very creative).

Relationship-wise, I like thinking that she and Etce are sisters or half-sisters, possibly daughters of Jellylorum. And as I think some people know by now, I’m a full Quaxtoria shipper (but I do like Platoria too).

Apart from that, I really love the headcanon (that I did not make up) that Victoria is deaf, and thus experiences and communicates largely through her dancing.

do you know which cats have collars and which do not? i suppose that those who do have them are household cats, while those who don't are technically street cats? oh and i'm asking this in relation to the 1998 film.

Hm! Let us see; from what I can see:Collars: Victoria, Demeter, Bombalurina, Jemima, Munkustrap, Jellylorum, Mungojerrie, Rumpleteazer, Cassandra, Skimbleshanks (bell), Tugger, Tumblebrutus

No Collars: George, Plato, Alonzo, Electra, Etcetera, Coricopat, Tantomile, Plato, Pouncival, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy

Jenny definitely has a family, though, and Deut at least lives in the vicinity of humans.

Don’t know if you count Mistoffelees’ bowtie/marking or not, but his song mentions having a family.

I remember reading two different statements regarding collars - the first saying that all the Jellicles are housecats; the second saying the ones without collars are indeed streetcats. I don’t remember where or when I read either of these.

George, Plato, Alonzo, Electra, Etcetera seem to be “First” names that are used by “the family” - if you take “family” to mean a human family (which I do), then they could have owners.

But I could definitely see some Cats like Plato, Alonzo, Tumblebrutus, Pouncival, and others spending a large amount of time roaming freely even if they do technically have owners.

I don't really read fanfiction. Nothing against it, it's just not something I seek out. I don't think I've read a CATS fanfic since like the mid-2000s.

how many times a week do u watch cats random but just wondering

Oh, that depends. When I first fell in love with CATS, I watched the video at least twice every day. Sometimes three on weekend days. I was on a CATS high for months and months, probably a couple years, just watching it as much as I could.

Since then I go through periods of obsession. I haven't watched the video in a pretty long while, but every so often I'll get back on a kick and have to watch at least part of it every day. Right now I'm not in one of those kicks, but it's only a matter of time til one comes around again. I’m seeing the CATS tour in a month, maybe that will do it!

But CATS is still always, always on my mind!

Who is your favorite cast member from the 1998 version?

This is hard for me to answer since I only know these actors and performers in the context of the video. There’s hardly any separation for me between them and their characters simply because that’s the only way I know them.

That said, I guess I’d say Elaine Paige?

Hello! Library cat anon again. Your Detective Cat sounds awesome! Maybe your Jellicle name could be Nancy Mew, lol. I can imagine you and I as Jellicles pouring over mystery books at the library, and, feeling inspired, decide to form a detective team. We'd solve mysteries like "was it mungojerrie or rumpelteazer who broke the vase?" or "how did the knives and forks end up on the lawn?" We'd get into all sorts of mischief, haha!

I love the idea of our two Jellicles brushing up on mysteries and then tackling the hijinks of the Tribe. Definitely wouldn’t get boring!

Aw, thank you!! Looks like lots of CATS fans are stirring in the wake of the 2019 trailer, which....I guess is at least one good outcome of it.

Cassandra is amazing! When I first discovered CATS, I used to not like her because I thought she was snooty and aloof, but over the years she's really, really grown on me. She has tons of personality, intriguing interactions, and her cat acting is just perfect.I’ll try to capture more of her!
