I don't remember much about my childhood, when I was human. It was so long ago, as if in a dream. Back then, I didn't know that I would become one of those creatures that frighten people with just their presence. I admit that as a potential victim, I was afraid of them like everyone else, but how can I remember... I was attracted... I was attracted to the power and authority that vampires still wield. I didn't understand what was wrong with me, and I couldn't find an excuse for why I was afraid of the dark and at the same time secretly drawn to it. Power and might—that's what attracted me, and maybe that's why I attracted creatures I hadn't met.
Everything changed one night when I met my future mentor. I fell for his sweet words and promises. I was so stupid and naive to believe him, but now I understand that he was a martyr who decided to spice up his life by bringing new suffering.
You can't imagine how much I wish I could forget the pain I experienced back then! My suffering lasted for hours, to the point where I would have preferred to kill myself rather than continue enduring this agony. I felt every cell in my body rearranging, my bones breaking and reassembling, my entire human nature completely changing, embracing the darkness. At that moment, all my senses were heightened at once. I heard every rustle and it deafened me. I tried to hide my eyes even from the moonlight, for even it caused my eyes to feel a burning pain that made me cry, but it only made it worse. The smell of damp earth became unbearable, I could smell scents that an ordinary person would never be able to sense, and this was accompanied by a piercing pain in my chest. My head was pounding from this mixture of pain and a series of novelties.
The sensations were especially painful when my fangs erupted. They cut my gums, leaving a trail of pain in their wake. But as time passed, my torment finally began to subside, and I was relieved, but I began to feel a new hunger and an eternal thirst growing within me. At that time, I had no idea that it would become my eternal companion.
My mentor whispered to me, "All will be well, my young friend. The hunger will become less intense over time."
A deceitful scoundrel, that's what I have to say about him. He had lived with this hunger longer than I had, and he knew that hunger would become my eternal companion, never to leave me...
