Episode Nagi Final Volume (8) Cover

This awoken something in me. It's spectacular.

It feels so gentle... The warm colors, the relaxed poses, them holding on to the ball together- not with any urgency, but to show their connection to soccer and to each other. Of course, they're in their Hakuho uniforms. Possibly to remind viewers (and themselves) to not forget the origin story of these two. The gold details on the ball ripple toward each other just like these characters tend to gravitate toward and affect each other, even if by chance.

This cover is like being greeted by an old friend.

As each cover from 1 to 7 got more fiery, with harsher colors and more chaotic with each development, it's easy to get wrapped up in the visual tension that builds from each cover. And then this one comes in like a soothing balm. As if to (maybe) say, Nagi's and Reo's story will all be okay.

See you at the conclusion of their story.

Nagi realizing the effects his words had on Reo (to an extent) and resolving to apologize...

> "I need to see you... and tell you..."

is an interesting line to me. It could just mean, 'i need to tell you I'm sorry', but Nagi has said "when I see you [Reo], I need to tell you-" about multiple things- specifically things he's learned... do you think a part of him wants to tell Reo he's learned about dreams? Despair? Reo's feelings?

NAGI'S EGO?! WINNING TO PRESERVE THE RIGHT TO FACE REO?!!!? Amen kaneshiro,,,

Also that line either means he believes in Reo so hard he didn't consider a possibility where Reo doesn't pass 2nd selection OR that if they both dropped out of blue lock, Nagi would never be able to face Reo out of shame for his own carelessness. Either way they're insane for that and they make ME insane
