🕯️ Candle Magic 🕯️
Candle magic is one of my favorite type of ritual, because it is relatively simple to setup, and non-expensive. You just need a candle, and fire to light it up. If you want the spell to be even more powerful, feel free to carve symbols or sigils on the candle before lighting it. Then sit down, observe the flame, and think about a question that is worrying you.
–
Color correspondences
⚪ White candles: healing, purification, innocence, meditation, peace
⚫ Black candles: strength, negative energies, resilience, self-control
🟤 Brown candles: intuition, animal protection, stability, decisions
🟣 Purple candles: ambition, power, focus, concentration, inspiration
🔵 Blue candles: happiness, calm, laughter, relaxation, harmony, water
🟢 Green candles: luck, love, fertility, birth, health, success, earth
🟡 Yellow candles: imagination, divination, intelligence, energy, air
🟠 Orange candles: authority, changes, control, support, versatility
🔴 Red candles: love, brave, blood, passion, death, sex, fire
–
Candle reading
🔥 Candle will not light: the question cannot be answered anymore, because things are already in movement, you cannot turn back now.
🔥 Strong, stable flame: the answer to your question is “yes”.
🔥 Weak, small flame: the answer to your question is “no”.
🔥 Dancing flame: there is chaotic, undisciplined energy present. You need to focus and meditate before taking any decision at the moment.
🔥 Crackling flame: spirits might be present in the room, and they would like to speak to you. Be open to their message.
🔥 A lot of smoke is coming out: the universe is helping you cleanse yourself and your room, leaving space for new opportunities and energies.
🔥 Candle will not go out: the spirits are telling you that the ritual is not over. Ask yourself if your question was the right one, or if there is anything that needs to be further discussed.
Days of the Week - Correspondants🌙
SUNDAY
In Roman culture, Sunday was the day of the sun God. In paganism, the sun was seen as the source of life, which was popular with the Romans when they were preying. Sunday is therefore linked with the colours yellow and gold. The name originates with the sun due to Hellenistic astrology, where the seven planets including Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury, Venus and the Moon each had an hour of the day. Furthermore, the planet which was associated with each hour of the day was given a day of the week, which became apparent in the 1st-2nd century in Rome and Egypt. Sunday is also linked to deities associated with the sun, such as Helios and Ra. Based on this information, Sunday is associated with success, material wealth, fame, personal growth and healing.
MONDAY
Monday is associated with the lunar deities such as Khonsu (Egypt) and Artemis (Greek). In religions such as Islam, Monday is one of the two days of fasting, the other being Thursday. Culturally, Monday is depicted as a day of depression, anxiety and melancholy as it marks the beginning of the working week. Therefore, Monday is depicted as a quiet day, which would correspond to elements of self-care, rejuvenation and cleansing. I’d also associate Monday to be a day to do spells associated with attracting wealth, abundance and luck within the career, due to it being the start of the typical 5-day working week.
TUESDAY
Tuesday is known as the day of Mars. The name originates from Tyr, a God from old Norse mythology who loses his arm to Fenrir. He was associated with being the god of War and being the Lawgiver of the gods. In Japanese and Korean, Tuesday translates to ‘Mars day’. In Greek and Spanish-speaking countries, some people believe Tuesday to be unlucky due to Tyr being associated with war and death. Therefore, rather than having Friday the 13th being unlucky, the 13th of the month falling on a Tuesday in certain places would be classed as unlucky. Therefore, the correspondents I feel that are associated with Tuesday are protection, warding, building mind and body strength, confidence, victory and aggression.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday reflects the Germanic god Wōden (‘Odin’), and is associated with the planet/ god Mercury. Mercury and Wōden were associated together as both were the guides of souls after death. In Ancient Greece, Hermes was also associated with Wednesday, as he was a conductor of the dead for Hades. In the story of creation, the Sun and the Moon were both created on the “fourth day”, which is known as Wednesday. Wednesday is associated with intelligence, fortune, chance, creativity, wisdom, study, knowledge, communication and calming.
THURSDAY
Thursday is derived from the old Norse god Thor, known as the God of thunder. The Roman god Jupiter was also associated with Thursdays, as both Thor and Jupiter were gods of the sky and thunder. Jupiter was also king of the gods. In Buddhism, especially in Thailand, Thursday is known as ‘teacher’s day’ where education should begin on a Thursday. Thursdays are typically associated with abundance, grounding, health, wealth, authority, justice, anger and fortune
FRIDAY
Friday is linked to the Roman goddess Venus, who encompasses love, sex, desire, fertility and victory. Furthermore, Friday is also linked to the Germanic goddess Frigg, or Freyja based on the translation from some Slavic countries. Frigg was the goddess of fertility and motherhood, whilst Freyja was associated with love, beauty, fertility, sex, gold and war. Folklore depicts Friday as an unlucky day, yet some believe it is a day of good fortune and prosperity due to people sowing seeds on Fridays - it resembles the life that comes after death similarly to how Jesus was resurrected from the tomb after his crucifixion. This day is therefore associated with all forms of love, fertility, beauty, glamour, romance, sex, sexuality, divination, wisdom and youth.
SATURDAY
Saturday was known as Saturn’s day. There is no Norse god associated with Saturday due to the replacement of the eight day cycle with the seven day week. Saturdays in the Eastern Orthodox are dedicated to worshipping Theotokos, which refers to Mary being the ‘god-bearer.’ Prayers of the dead are usually associated with this day as a remembrance to the rising of Jesus. In Scandinavian countries, Saturday is called Lördag, which is derived from the Viking word for bath - Vikings would typically bathe on Saturdays. In some Islamic countries, Saturday marks the start of the week, whereas in others it marks the end. Therefore, Saturday could correspond to necromancy, divination, death, exorcism, spirituality, endings, self-discipline, freedom, banishing, hexing, protection, binding and loss

Witchcraft for when depression hits 🥀
Sometimes, we may think that our magick is invalid, or that our deities don’t want to work with us anymore when we have depression. Altars get dusty, the air gets stale, and maybe you have quit working with magick all together, but still identify as a practicing witch.
Depression is an illness. If a professional runner fractured a leg, how could they continue to run while going through recovery? Can a witch continue to do mental work if their mental health is suffering? Think about it: witches are constantly using their brain to get themselves in a highly spiritual and magickal state. You cannot expect yourself to want to work with magick if getting out of bed is difficult on its own.
Understand that your deities are forgiving and understanding beings. Your magick will not dwindle. In fact, when you are sick, your deities and spirit guides will protect you and make sure nothing bad happens to you while you are sick. Don’t feel guilty for your depression. Depression is an illness, not a lack of dedication or general carelessness. I am going to give you advice on what kinds of spiritual work you can do while in a depressive episode.
Candle magick 🕯
🔮 Light a candle of your choice that symbolizes whatever you want to manifest (i.e yellow = confidence)
Aromatherapy 🧼
🔮 Different essential oils promote all different kinds of things. Lemon is uplifting and happy, while lavender is calming and promotes sleep.
Healing crystals 💎
🔮 All you need to do is set the intention. You can keep crystals by your bed, or you can set them up in a specific way for a spell or intention.
Chanting 🗣
🔮 You don’t need to get up for this one! You can even chant in your head.
Sleep meditation 💤
🔮 Sleep meditations are wonderful because of all of the insight you can get from intense dreaming. YouTube has great sleep meditation music.
Guided meditation 🧘🏻♂️ 🌀 🧘🏼♀️
🔮 This can be done in the bed as well. There are meditations on akashic records, spirit guides, past lives, you name it.
Be safe and know that it is okay to feel depressed sometimes. Make sure to get professional help if possible to help if these depressive episodes are chronic or prolonged. Know that the world loves you. Your deities love you. I love you. We love you.

Low Key Offerings
Here are offerings to the gods without looking like offerings to the gods
Books: Great for Athena, but can be offered to other gods as well. I offered "The Art of War" to Ares once.
Drawings: Of the gods or of anything else. If drawn for them they work
Poems/Written works: Poems, stories, songs. They all can be written or typed and printed and set on the alter or other area dedicated to the gods
Jewelry: Any kind. They just look like you set jewelry down
Keepsake Box: I did this as a offering box and also as an offering to Artemis when I was younger
Coins: Good for Charon, Hermes, and Hades
Flowers: Everyone loves flowers and they just look like decor
Statues/Figurines: It's art. As long as you aren't overly decorating them or putting other offerings at their feet no one will think "Hey now that there's an offering"
Stuffed animals: My kids do this. Recently a stuffed owl was offered to Athena
Sea Shells: You can just put them in a pretty box or jar.
I spend much of my time reassuring baby Hellenic Pagans about this:
Our gods are not wrathful. They will not be angered by small mistakes. You poured a libation wrong? Or didn’t do a ritual you intended because life got in the way? They aren’t angry with you. They will not punish you.
They aren’t with you in order to take from you. They give to us unconditionally, and in return we give thanks because we are thankful. Not because we are afraid.
In my own experience, the gods will not be angered unless you act in a purposeful malicious or disrespectful way. You would really need to do something terrible for them to be angry with you.
We are human. We make mistakes. All you can do is have good intentions, and to continue learning. They love you for trying, even when you don’t do so perfectly. Try your best. Treat yourself and others with love, and you’re all set.
Witchcraft 101: Taglocks
If you’ve been doing some reading on witchcraft and spellcraft, it is likely that you’ve seen the word ‘taglock‘ crop up a few times.
If you haven’t, worry not.
A taglock is something that has been used in witchcraft for a very (very), long time and all it is, is an object or substance that forges a strong link between your target and your magick.
Traditionally, taglocks are things such as blood, spit, hair or nail clippings, – direct DNA. The use of DNA creates a stronger magickal bond. Nowadays, however, snagging someone’s blood in their sleep is generally frowned upon and quite difficult, so suitable replacements include cigarette butts, used tissues, used plastic cutlery and easily obtained things of that ilk.
You will notice that taglocks are often used in curses and hexes as it binds the target to the spell and therefore amplifies the magick and ensures that it affects the intended person. They are used in binding spells for the same reason; to tie the person to the magick.
However, bear in mind that taglocks are not malevolent in themselves. They are simply a means of forming a bond and can thus be used in protection, healing and positivity magick!
🐶Cute witchy tip!🐱
Cast a familiar spell on your pet! They can help you with magic and divination, but they can also provide you with protection. Here’s a familiar spell:
Draw a pentagram on a piece of paper and write your full name above it. Then write your pet's name underneath it. Hang it near the area your pet hangs out the most and there you go, your pet is now your familiar!
Signs that it is working:
Your pet will get more excited than usual around you.
You and your pet may be able to understand a few words they/you are saying.
You'll feel a magical bond between you and your pet.
Your pet gets more jealous if they smell another pet on you, but they get over it quicker.
But you can also summon one! Here’s a spell for summoning:
~Go to the woods and chant:
Familiar Summoning Spell
Spirits of the forest, I pronounce my intentions to thee. Come forth and seek me, and equal we will be. Not master and servant, but familiar to familiar, to share our knowledge, our spirit, and our traits.
I tried these, and the second one is how i found one of my cats. I already had another cat, and i used the first one on him. It worked!
Hi lady diana! My cousins and me (hereditary witches w/o living elders) sent you several asks over the past weeks and i know now why you didn't answered. :( I read from your post that anons on tumbler need to be answered publicly but our questions were maybe too small (didn't warrant a whole post probably). Sorry to be so pushy but somethings gnawing on me! :( I have 4 tarot decks. Straight out of the box the cards were arranged differently! Please lady diana whats the right arangement of cards?
12 Witchcraft Questions I Previously Skipped
ON TAROT
1) Different tarot deck publishers arrange the cards differently. What’s their right order?
Major Arcana – 0 to 21. Followed by Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles – Ace to 10, Page to King.
Because Major trumps Minor. And 0 is the start of The Fool’s journey.
As for the Minor, the order mirrors the evolution of our emotions. Impulses are Wands – our reactions. Processed impulses are Cups – our feelings. Internalized impulses are Swords – our thoughts. Stabilized impulses are Pentacles – our foundations.
2) You said individual reversed cards are not necessarily a bad thing. But what if all cards are reversed in a spread?
When all the cards are upside down, it means something is wrong.
Your question could be a leading one or based on a false assumption, such as, “Will our relationship last?” when the two of you are not even official.
Or perhaps you have asked the same question over and over again, and your deck is refusing to be made a fool of.
3) You have a lot of decks! How many does a beginner like me need?
Considering how long I have been reading the cards, 57 is actually a very small number. Others have been reading for just a few months and they have over a hundred because they go on sprees. Mine were collected over the years.
A beginner only needs one tarot deck. Once you know how to read, acquire a couple more, for longevity, versatility and excitement. If you read with other cartomancy systems, the same applies. Just one to three decks. Anything beyond that is an indulgence.
ON ASTROLOGY
4) Why am I attracted (romantically and platonically) to people of the same Sun or Rising sign as me?
Because you are a wonderful person. That is, you are a mature manifestation of your Zodiac sign. And so are the people you are attracted to.
The reverse is also true. If you find yourself hating people of the same Sun or Rising as you, it means you – or perhaps they – are base manifestations of these signs.
Although, to be mature does not mean you have to adore these people. You could be wary of them while still recognizing their worth.
5) What signs are similar to each other?
Aries and Scorpio. Both are intense and share a traditional ruler.
Virgo and Capricorn. Both are Earth signs and pay attention to details.
Libra and Pisces. Both tend to go with the flow. Relatively easygoing.
Gemini and Sagittarius. Both are sociable, friendly and fun-seeking.
Taurus and Leo. Both are Fixed signs and love the good things in life.
Cancer and Aquarius. Both care deeply, but for different things and in different ways.
6) I’m overwhelmed by how many systems there are. My Western chart describes me and my life perfectly. Do I need to learn the others?
Subscribing to astrology is like purchasing a vacuum cleaner.
The salesman cons you into buying a special nozzle for dog hair and another for a sheepskin rug. Then your friends show you their own vacuum cleaners, and you feel sad that yours is not the latest or the most expensive.
But what is a vacuum cleaner for? Cleaning. If yours is not broken, do not fix it.
Same with astrology. It is a map of your destiny. If your chart describes you and your life perfectly, then it is doing its job. No need for extra accessories and meaningless upgrades.
ON SPELLS
7) Is it okay if I substitute honey with table sugar in spells?
No. Honey is natural, while table sugar has been refined, making it somehow artificial.
Honey is used for protection and desire spells, while sugar is used for glamour and manipulation spells.
If you use them interchangeably, benefic spells could turn malicious, and malicious spells would have no power.
8) How do I know if the guy I met while astral traveling is really my soulmate or just someone random?
If you have to ask, then he is not.
Your soulmate is your other half. Someone you know from your past lives. Meeting him in another realm where your subconscious is awakened is like looking at your own handwriting or gazing at the mirror. It is unmistakable.
The fact that you are unsure in the first place means it was not him at all.
9) If I’m not officially a witch, will the spells you shared with us work for me?
What is an official witch? Merely calling yourself a witch, dressing in black or collecting crystals does not make you one.
A witch is someone who was either born to a witching family or someone who was born with magic. Or both.
But hereditary witches do not always know about their lineage, if it was broken some generations ago. As for natural-born witches, they go through a spiritual awakening, which perhaps has not yet started for you.
So the only way to know for sure is to perform the spell. If it works, then you have it in you. If it does not, then you do not.
ON PAGANISM
10) Do the old gods prefer material or sentimental offerings?
It depends on your intention.
If you wrote an old god a poem simply because you refuse to spend money on offerings, then he is likely to reject it.
But if you gave him a rose that you grew yourself and means more to you than an expensive bouquet, then he might love it.
11) Is Venus superficial? She only granted my prayer once when I approached her in my bridesmaid dress and I was wearing makeup and my hair was done.
If you are going to a business meeting, the other party expects you to look professional.
If you are going to church, the other parishioners expect you to look decent.
And if you are going to approach the Goddess of Beauty, she expects you to look your best.
There is nothing superficial about respect. It is a matter of basic decency and common sense.
12) Me and my sister are both Scorpio dominants. How come I’ve been practicing longer, but she’s already seen Pluto and I haven’t?
Unlike the new gods, the old ones have favorites. That is not some great secret. Even in mythology, there are those they favor more than others.
Perhaps your sister is more Scorpionic than you in the way she thinks and behaves. The old gods are delighted when their mortal children embrace their nature.
Or it could be your offerings. Pluto is Lord of the Death. I hope you are not giving him anything fluffy like stuffed toys and candies.
I cannot possibly fully know a god’s mind. But I do know that for Pluto to reveal himself to your sister, she is doing something right. So ask her.
