This might sound dystopian but this is actually really cool cremations are really bad for the environment so if we can make them eco friendly we’ll be able to do a lot of good
Plus it’s renewable because well people die every day
+ for posterity I hope people know how inextricably linked McLaren's passive and active malice is to the erasure of Daniel's credentials in the public domain. he was seldom defended last year. And never this year.
On November 3rd 2020, 58 days before Daniel became a McLaren driver, Ross Brawn, F1's managing director, dedicated part of his last column of the year to Daniel saying “Daniel Ricciardo is a brilliant driver, and one of the very best in Formula1 [...]I hope McLaren can give Daniel a car he deserves next season. He’s a great member of the F1 fraternity.” And reiterated that Daniel is a championship contender whose never been in a contending car
He's tied for second place with Lewis for most wins starting outside the top 3. For reference, first is Alonso and Raikkonen, he's tied with Lewis for second and 3rd is Schumacher. 4th is Jenson Button. All champions while he's never been in a championship contending car
McLaren letting the *Daniel is not a very adaptable driver* narrative run rampant when in his supposed "bad" first year at Renault in 2019, he ran out the incumbent driver and produced unimpressive feats like going from 20th to 4th on two occasions.
Broke Renault's 10 year podium drought. Twice.
People genuinely running with that bizarre conspiracy that Daniel is poor in the technical realm of F1 when Cyril, who had no reason to defend or protect Daniel after he announced his departure said that the technical breakthrough Renault had was solely Daniel's doing and the only reason they were even able to compete for 3rd in the championship + "Daniel will be competing with a stronger team next year thanks to his own efforts"
The first driver in 8 years to score multiple fast laps without being part of a top 3 team, a record previously held by Raikkonen
In 2019 Nico Rosberg revealing that during briefings Mercedes drivers would ask not to be released around Daniel after pitting because if he's in front of you he's not going to let you through and if he's behind you he's overtaking you.
Helmut Marko, known cunt and crackhead, admitting that the only time they've had 2 drivers matched in performance at Red Bull was during the Ricciardo-Verstappen line up.
People saying he was too arrogant and egotistical (¿¿¿) to gel with the team like. When was the last fucking time a driver went to another teams garage to apologise to another driver's mechanics for a racing incident he was NOT penalised for, during a wet session, where Carlos Sainz himself said Daniel couldn't have changed the outcome if he tried.
In his first year in Red Bull, during the most radical regulation change in recent f1 history, he was the only driver besides mercedes to win a race. He won 3 races.
This is Daniel's calibre, and no amount of historical romanticism from McLaren or their paid shills will ever change that.

A hero without a cape
Her name is Theresa Kachindamoto, and she is a senior chief - political leader of a region with a population of about 900,000 people.
She didn’t run for election; she was appointed, without her knowledge, while she was living and working in a completely different part of the country. She just received a call one day telling her to come back to her childhood home, because she was in charge now.
So she did; and when she arrived, she discovered widespread sexual abuse of children. She browbeat 50 uncooperative local leaders into accepting her decision to annul all the marriages. She then fired four of them when they continued to allow children to be married off in their areas. She still faces widespread opposition from parents who consider it their right to sexually abuse their daughters if they want to; but Kachindamoto very evidently does not give a fuck, and is continuing to use political and legal means to protect children in the region.
She’s not just an anonymous do-gooder; she’s an effective political leader despite incredibly difficult circumstances. Theresa Kachindamoto.
Go Theresa!!

Joe Russo when Tony Stark said “billionaire, playboy, philanthropist” in the first avengers
so far, I have quotes from the russos on how they think Cap is old fashioned and needed to go, how black widow was damaged and needed to “complete herself” how tony “needs to go.” they clearly don’t care for thor or ant man, thinking them idiots. They don’t seem to respect Falcon or War machine (I wonder why) so who DO they like?
Why were they given control over a movie franchise where they hate all the characters?
Completely agree. Here are the quotes they’re referencing btw
This really freaking annoys me. If you’re in charge of a movie franchise then it is your job to embrace every character, to help them grow and overcome their differences. But no, NO! These asshats kill off every single character that they hate and are acting like complete babies just because they don’t like them. If you don’t like them so much then fuck off! Go and work on something else! Just stop ruining the MCU!!!
They both literally just hated everyone. Here is another quote I haven’t heard a lot of people mention either
Loki: h-
Joe Russo:
this is so funny tho
Oh they hated everyone that explains why the movies are like that
No wonder the mcu feels like a slightly better Michael bay franchise
On the bright side, knowing the directors actively hated half the characters they were working with leaves me feeling 0% hesitant to ignore every single bullshit character move they made! 😜
I don’t know why people do this… for example they did it with Star Trek and jj abrams…
Look, I have my differences with the LOTR movies, but you can see in every frame the sheer overwhelming love for the story that went into those movies. On genuinely every level. Every person involved with the production of those movies loved what they were doing and were working passionately, and it shows.
The disregard that leaks through parts of the MCU, two of the new Star Trek movies, and the new Star Wars trilogy really is baffling to me. So many people love these franchises and would have lovingly poured their heart and soul into them. And filmmakers who just didn’t care were handed these films?? Imagine what we could have gotten if actual fans had been allowed to make these movies.
Oh wait, I don’t have to imagine. People who love these franchises and these characters put their tiny amounts of free time and overwhelming effort into producing fanfiction and fanart for these characters every day. I could go on AO3 right now and in half a dozen clicks get sweeping, beautiful, poetic treatises on the human condition written through these ‘Verses. Vast arrays of adventures starring these characters, and the characters themselves would be lovingly adored by their writers. I could enjoy content made by people who care.
These directors and producers don’t deserve to be handed these franchises and they don’t deserve the paychecks they receive for half-assing their way through them. Not when fans produce outstanding content every day for free, just out of passion alone. This is ridiculous, can Hollywood please start putting people who actually care about the characters in charge of the movies? Please? I promise I’ll go back to buying movie tickets if I think the characters will be treated fairly by their narratives.
That explains why, despite my incredible geekiness, I’ve been meh about seeing these movies. The contempt showed.
Another great example is Game of Thrones. Every single actor involved in GoT, down to the extras, even, absolutely adored their characters, and the story, and the show they were making. But the showrunners??? Were open in the last few years about how over it they were, how much they just wanted to wrap it up and move on, etc.
You can see the love the actors have for their characters, and, by contrast, you can also see the utter contempt and disregard and impatience the showrunners had for the story over all, by the end.
The actors gave it their absolute all – as did the crew, and the set designers (who worked to insanely tight timetables and managed to get their job done incredibly well) and every single other person who was involved…….. but none of that could trump the impact had by the two showrunners who just wanted to wrap it up as fast and as sloppily as possible, so they could “move on” to “better things.”
It’s been 47 years, and there’s still thousands of families who, to this day, do not know what happened to their loved ones.
Mothers and fathers who died of elderly age and sadness in the 90s, 00s and 10s, praying for at least a scrap of the clothes their children were wearing the day they disappeared, a lock of hair, a tooth… Something, so they could bury as much as that. So they could at least have a stone to cry on.
There’s records of teenagers as young as 14 among the disappeared.
Children left orphaned, now beyond middle aged, who keep running into the men who tortured and executed their parents, as they walk around their neighborhoods, as if nothing ever happened. Elderly men who get to live in peaceful retirement despite the crimes they committed, while their parents had their lives stolen from them, being thrown in bags, still alive, into the ocean from helicopters, after having been tortured.
Wives, husbands, siblings, friends and lovers with many similar stories to tell, if they have enough strength in them to tell them at all.
People who were arrested and tortured alongside loved ones, who were lucky to be released after weeks, months or more of military torture, but whose loved ones they went with were not, and they never saw them again. People living with an undeserved guilt that they survived, but their loved ones did not.
Children who were never born despite being loved and expected, because their mothers were taken while they still carried them, and suffered the same fate as everyone else. Fathers who lost both their lovers and unborn children at once.
And thousands of bodies crying from the ocean, from the desert, from Los Andes, from military bases. Waiting to be found, waiting to be named.
what is this in reference to?
Yesterday it was Chile’s 9/11. In September 11th of 1973, the democratically elected socialist president Salvador Allende was overthrown by a US backed coup from the Chilean military, which started the military dictatorship of Pinochet. It lasted until 1990, and its horrors were constant, with state terrorism and violence, censorship, political persecution, etc. What you’d expect from a fascist dictatorship.
The coup itself started off with plenty of deaths, which was immediately followed by the Caravan of Death (only lasting between September 30th and October 22nd of 1973, counting 97 executions and forced disappearances), and continued with the arrests, horrific tortures and executions of thousands of civilians (confirmed over 40,000 victims).
Among the thousands of people who were victims of the dictatorship, there’s the over 3000 disappeared detainees; people who were taken from out of the blue (taken from their homes at night, taken in their way to work, etc) by the police or military, and whose whereabouts are still not known to this day.
Them being disappeared doesn’t just mean that they’re dead, it means there’s no answers to what exactly happened to them (due in big part to pacts of silence and other forms of corruption), and the bodies are and will probably always be missing, due to how the bodies were deposed of (re-read the last paragraph of the op to get an idea).
The loved ones of those disappeared are, to this day, still searching for answers regarding what happened to their children, parents, spouses, siblings, lovers and friends. Let alone the elusive hope of ever finding a piece of their corpses to bury. It’s been so long, that now there’s new generations of people who didn’t even live through the dictatorship, that are continuing the search of their parents who died without an answer.

People really need to realise that “media can affect real life” doesn’t mean “this character does bad things so people will read that and start doing bad things” and actually means “ideas in fiction especially stereotypes about minority groups can affect how the reader views those groups, an authors implicit prejudices can be passed on to readers”
