“In the end, we only regret the chances we didnt take.”
A Teen Female Football First
1-
The main point of this article talks about how Karlie Harman becomes the first girl to win the Player of the Year in a Washington, D.C youthful football league, and how she acts as a role model to many. The idea is first developed as Davidson says, “Karlie Harman is blazing a trail for female football players. The 13-year-old recently won the Player of the Year award from Dulles South Youth Sports, which is part of the Fairfax County Youth Football League.” The idea is then further developed as Laura describes how Karlie has liked sports ever since she was a kid and how she was trusted so much by her football coach to a point were he made her the quarterback on her team.”Last summer, Karlie tried out for the Dulles South Thunder, a youth football team. The Thunder’s coach, Bob Thomas, had heard about Karlie’s win in the contest. He had so much confidence in Karlie’s abilities, he made Karlie the team’s quarterback and put her on defense too.” The idea is then developed more as the writer mentions more about the people around Karlie feel about her talents and why her future might have in store for her.

Organization: The text is clearly organized in terms of presenting information in an understandable order. The paragraphs are short and easy understand. They are also separated by headings so that the readers are able to understand what each group of paragraphs is talking about. The text is also provided with pictures of Karlie that help us understand how much she is happy and proud of what she is doing. The only weakness that I think was present was that Davidson didn’t provide enough information about how hard Karlie worked to get to were she is now.
Purpose:The purpose of this article is to inform the readers about how a teenage girl was able to win a football league that no other female has ever been able to before. And another purpose of this article is to motivate readers to believe in themselves like Karlie did as the first female to ever win in that league.

Who is the author?- Knowing who the author is would help me understand how reliable the information in the text is and if the writer got her information from personal opinions or from proven facts.
How popular is the “Scholastic”?- Knowing the level of the site’s popularity would help prove to me how credible the information is and how much people actually trust in the information the website presents to them.

I believe that this article is reliable, since the author seems to know what she is talking about, and she gives enough information and examples to prove her text as true. Also, she mentions some dates of Karlie’s achievements which helps prove to us that the author is up to date with information since she mentioned something that happened only two years ago and not like fifty something years or more.

How doing this project affected my opinion towards Social Media
My opinion towards social media hasn’t really changed since I’ve always thought positively about it, though my view on its use for educational purposes has drastically altered. At first, I thought that it would be awkward and just plainly wrong to write stuff down and post them for the entire world to see; it all just got me insecure because I don’t like publicly sharing my thoughts and ideas. But then, I started to notice that over the course of the trimester the ideas I’ve always had bottled up in my head were gradually pouring themselves into my posts, week after week, post after post, and since I’m new to ADNOC, I got to learn a lot about the students in my grade and what their views about life are which helped me communicate with them more.
Now regarding people that look at social media negatively, all of these people are free to think whatever they want, but I just want to say one thing to them. DO NOT FORCE YOUR BELIEFS ON OTHERS. Not everyone thinks that social media can be used positively, and these people are partially right because you may never know what the people in this world want with you, but you should never let that one little thing control your view on an entire world filled with a great number of people with the most magnificent ideas. And as someone I don’t know once said, “You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” I think that that saying emphasizes how we shouldn’t let the few people that ruin social effect our view toward social media in general because everything has many secrets to it and a single flaw shouldn’t make a great difference on the thing as a whole.

I chose this song to go with the scene were Christopher finds his mother’s letters and reads them behind his father’s back. I think that the tone of the song gives off sad and nostalgic feelings that fit the mood of the story at that time, and I believe that the lyrics explains what Christopher is feeling while reading the letters and how his mother felt when she wrote them. Like when Ed says “We keep this love in a photograph”, I think it perfectly describes how Judy should have felt while pouring her feelings of regret into the letters.
“Portraying people with disabilities in entertainment media is unfair.”
I disagree with the fact that portraying people with disabilities in entertainment media is unfair. Of course there are some entertainment media that portraits people with disabilities in a rude way, but that happens to people with no disabilities too. People with disabilities shouldn’t feel as if they’re different than us, because they aren’t. Portraying people with disabilities in entertainment media can actually benefit the people in many ways.
Portraying people with disabilities can teach people about that particular disability. Some people aren’t that aware of the struggles or what a person with a disability may go through everyday, this could give people more sympathy to people with disabilities and make them more understanding when that disabled person does something unacceptable or wrong in some way. For example if I have met someone like Christopher, with Asperger’s Syndrome, I would’ve thought they were rude or disrespectful for doing certain things (an example is hitting people when being touched), but because I’ve read the book, now I know why they would’ve done that. Knowing certain behaviors of people with Asperger’s Syndrome (from Christopher) helped me understand why they do certain things.
Also, sometimes seeing people with disabilities makes you feel more thankful for what you have. People should always feel grateful towards what they have, not everyone has what you have. Also people with disabilities, they have things we don’t have. Nobody is perfect or has everything, so everyone should feel appreciative for the things they have. For people with disabilities, seeing others go through the same struggles they go through everyday would make them feel like they aren’t alone. For example seeing Christopher having difficulties communicating with others made me feel fortunate to have the social skills I’ve got (even though I have bad social skills). A person with Asperger’s Syndrome might have never or rarely seen a person with the same disability. That person might have read TCIOTDITNT and felt like they weren’t the only ones going through these obstacles that differentiate them from other people.
All in all, I disagree with the statement that says that portraying people with disabilities in entertainment media is unfair. Actually, I think not portraying them in entertainment media would be unfair because they aren’t any different than us. There isn’t anything wrong with showing people what a day in a life of a disabled person is like. We always portray able-bodied people, how would it be unfair to portray disabled people? We are all the same. Also portraying disabled people would help others by teaching them new information and making them feel thankful for what these got. It would also teach disabled people to be stronger and feel like they aren’t alone.
I agree with all of your opinions because we all know that people with disabilities aren't that different from us, and that they should be encouraged, in the exact same way we are, to show their talents and to prove that they are just as special as we are. Also, the people in our society are usually made fun of and that is one of the main reasons we all believe they are discouraged. So, all I'm saying is that I agree with everything said in the previous post.
Hunger Games Trailer HD. First official HD Trailer of The Hunger Games Movie, after a first teaser, unveils the Gary Ross Movie starring Jennifer Lawrence, J...
Watching this trailer, i got me really excited because i really like adventurous and thriller movies because they get my adrenaline hyped SO MUCH!! Even though, i don't really have anything to relate to, but the plot seems very interesting.
We may place blame on, give reasons, and even have excuses; but in the end, it is an act of cowardice to not follow your dreams.
I can really relate to it, because if i didn't follow my dreams i would have ended up like my mother, sad, depressed, and afraid of my past.
