โI see youโve sharp tongue with an even sharper blade, Mr. Dekarios.โ
Vasa never expected to find both a lover & a sparing partner when she pulled a certain bladesinging wizard out of a stone.
It inspired this art by @naarisz

Gotta keep singing the praises of ilzt and her spiderweb robes. They look so elegant and pretty on her, but (to me at least) thereโs also this undeniable kitsch factor to a drow with obvious spider imagery on her clothing that pushes into cartoon villain territory in an absolutely endearing way. I guess thatโs true with most drow but I first noticed it on ilzt so itโs special to her
I'm glad you like her! Thank you!! <3
Yeah you're absolutely right about the kitsch factor! When I'm thinking about a character's design, I'm always choosing 1-3 (not too much!) visual detail that'll stand out from the whole design. I then oversaturate these details and leave the others kinda plain, so the character'll be instantly recognisable by those details. (And I'm also a big fan of kitsch characters. I think character designs became a little boring in the past 10 years, they're always very dark and modern, which is fine, but kinda whatever after a while.) I use this method with all my designs and I think they're all pretty unique, because of this. :)
I canโt get over Taraโs face in the family portrait!!โค๏ธ
Her expression is the best thing of every drawing she's in. I love drawing her. :D
i was scrolling through your account, (because I love your art and Ilzt), and I've noticed that you've improved a ton even just from January! your art was already amazing, but now it's incredible, and it was pretty inspiring to me, so I figured I'd point it out :D
Oh, thank you!!!!
The most important thing I learned this year, that it's very important what position and angle your tablet/drawing device is and from what angle you're looking at the drawing, because it can really mess up the proprositions/anatomy. :')
Also the creative commissions and various awesome characters helped a lot in my improvement! :)
Hello! I really love your artstyle and the way youโre able to seamlessly blend bold lineart with color. I favor heavier lineart with my own art as well, but every time I color in a piece, it just doesnโt look cohesive or balanced, as if the lineart and color are fighting with each other.
Can I ask what types of brushes you use to color your pieces and how to get such a good balance of lineart and color?
Hi!! Sure!! I don't know, if I'm the perfect candidate for art tutorials, cause I'm nowhere near professional, but I'll share the foundation of what I'm doing most of the time.
I work in Procreate, so I can only recommend brushes from that app. I use the HB pencil for details and the face mostly, while 6B is for the outline and some bolder lines. Lineart colour is very important, I think. I love doing it with darker shades of red, and recolour it as the drawing progresses (adding a layer above the lineart with clipping mask mode). I use the Old Beach brush for colouring and shading as well. I either do the darker colour and dark layer modes route for shading or just paint the shades/lights with colours I choose. (I'm doing this nowadays, bc I'm lazy for all that layering.) I also shade sometimes with pencils, like on real paper. It very much feels like doing water based painting on paper.
I add the background then, and a darker layer for either just the figure or the whole drawing. Then, I draw some sharper lights with the pencils, I mentioned and add a light airbrush layer that follows the lines. I also use the airbrush for some additional lights and shades and play with layer modes. Finally, I give it a noise filter and book it done. I also try out a bunch of patterned brushes just to give some more artistic touch to the whole thing.
I always almost paint over things in every step, so no layer stays untouched, and becomes a big mess at later stages. Xd
That's it basically, hope it can help you!! :)
I also recommend watching comic book artists and coloring artists on youtube, they have some cool tutorials. I loved comics, when I was a teen, and they were a really big influence on my style. :D
I can't study properly without drawing something during it. So have an overly annoyed house wizard with a mind empty of brainworms (yet).

Hey everyone! I'm closing my commissions for a while, cause I'm pretty busy at the moment. I'll try to reopen them around the beginning of next year, but I'm not sure about the exact month. I'll notify you on this blog, if it happens anyway. :D
Hope you're all well! Have a nice day! :)
