I may occasionally post cute wildlife, social justice, and anything else I find interesting.

This is actually not as unattainable a goal in your relationship with Lute as you might think. Although she takes her work very seriously (some might say too seriously...), we see in canon she has her downtime with Adam and she would undoubtedly do so with a partner once she gets settled in.

At home when the pair of you want to relax on the couch, Lute likes to have your head in her lap (or vice versa if she's extra comfortable with you by this point) while you're both reading, watching something on TV, or playing a video game (she is not a gracious loser. You are lucky she is cute...).

Sometimes, if she knows she isn't going to be doing a lot of hands-on work, she lets you paint her nails. She likes to show off what a good job you've done when she's out on the promenade.

She will never admit it, but it means a lot to her that you get up with her in the early mornings where she heads out for training sessions (even if you go back to sleep afterwards). I see her as a bit of a fitness junkie, and she very much appreciates if you make her a protein smoothie or the Heaven equivalent thereof. Reminders of the fact she is loved (and by you no less!) are never far away.

Lute is more of a shower type of person, but every so often especially after a long day you can coax her into a hot bath with you. She'll let you wash her back and preen her wings and pull her into your chest with her head leaning back on your shoulder, and she will permit herself to bask in it.

If you're the type to do chores around the house when Lute is out, prepare yourself for a good deal of mending her torn uniforms and getting the pesky demon blood out of the fabric. She tends to be pretty tidy (think military-level neatness) but doesn't look after her clothes as often as you wish she would!

Sometimes she just needs a good old cuddle in bed after a hard day. This is especially true post-S1 with the weight of trauma and depression heavy on her shoulders. Lute can be a bit snappish and short with you when she's at her limit but you've learned to just take her into your arms and hold her. I think she'd enjoy some deep pressure hugs, all while you're pressing tender kisses to the crown of her head and reminding her how much you love her. The knowledge that she can come home to you reassures her on even her worst days.

Lute/Reader cuddling headcanons. SFW but MDNI, no gender or pronouns mentioned for Reader. Mention of explicitly chubby Reader at the end ♡

It goes without saying that Lute is incredibly touch starved. She's an exorcist, she's been trained to equate touch with danger and pain. I don't even see her and Adam being especially touchy feely (beyond the sort of close teasing we see them exchange) let alone with hugs, so any kind of non-jokey touch to her is pretty alien.

So, if you're the first one to send her some sincere affection, expect resistance. Lute is likely going to tense up awkwardly when you put your arms around her, at best; or shake you off at worst, while telling you she doesn't need to be babied or coddled.

Secretly though, deep down where she won't even admit it to herself, she needs it. She needs to matter to someone and feel the sort of safety that comes with your hugs. Initially she will seek it out when you're asleep and unaware; pressing herself up against your body, savouring your warmth and contact, telling herself it's just because you're cozy and your breathing is pleasant white noise.

In reality, she doesn't dare move a muscle when, still fast asleep, you throw the dead weight of your arm over her middle, effectively pinning her in place to the bed you share. Lute finds the pressure and closeness makes her feel oddly...secure. It's foolish, rationally; sleep is the most vulnerable state a person can find themself in, she's taken advantage of that in past exterminations, yet...

After that little epiphany, Lute isn't as apt to shove you off of her whenever you offer a nice big hug. She might still tense involuntarily, but she leans into it more and more as time goes on.

When she gets exceptionally comfortable, she'll be more open to passive, casual forms of affection; putting her head in your lap if she's scrolling her phone or watching a movie with you, letting you run your hand through her hair, brushing your shoulder with hers as you walk down Heaven's promenade. But...those who eye her for a second too long, those who dare to balk at the lieutenant of the exorcist army going soft for another angel, still nevertheless get a very menacing glare.

She eventually settled into the role of being the big spoon, no matter your own size. And for chubby!Reader, if she's had a rough day, Lute likes to grope and massage the plush of your stomach and hips like a stress toy.

You're just so very comforting to her, even if she's never going to say so out loud.
