I was in Jaisalmer last month, a place I really wanted to visit!
We had targeted a day for Jaisalmer, itās a small city and it takes just a day in going around the city. But we stayed back for a night. So we had a full day and an evening to soak up into the rustic olā Golden City.
We started with a good breakfast and headed for the fort, well we were staying at this super cosy place very near to the fort. This is one real good old fort, till now all the forts that I have visited are in good shape (Amer, Jaigargh, Mehrangargh) but this great 800 year old fort has its own legendary tales to tell.
Ā Highlights of the fort-
A lot of population resides in the fort
Beautiful and intricate detailing on the walls and doors
By now the sun had taken a break and was planning to take lil rest anf go down, and we planned on moving towards the dunes. Jaisalmer is gorgeous, what you see is limitless sky and land, gorgeous crisp golden sand and milky blue sky. It is beauty!
Crisp golden sand and milky blue skyā¤
We went at a very inappropriate time, that is we reached Sam sometime around 3 and were there till 5:30 PM, basically that is the right time for people had started pouring in, ummm we considered our visit timing appropriate. Umm lesser people around, made us accessible to more fun!
We were pretty done for the day, we had late lunch or early dinner if you want to say and opted to walk up to fort and shop. But well well, a little highlight here, the city ends the day on a very early note, hence by the time we were in the market, we could only spot few shops open!
What can you shop in Jaisalmer?
While walking towards the fort, gallore of Rajasthani artwork attractions!
Chunky oxidised/silver jewellery
Rajasthani printed clothing
Next day we slept well, ate well and left for Gadisar lake, a small lake where you can enjoy little family/me time while boating and admiring the peace around.
Next we stopped at- Jaisalmer War Mueseum
And I would say, each one of you should make a note of visiting this place. The pictures will speak the mighty beauty of the place.
Well all this while I really wanted to talk about the place we stopped over for, this super cozy and comfortable hotel we opted via Goibibo (super affordable)was one reason we stayed back for another day. The rooms and the place is well kept, clean, beautifully decorated and utterly delicious food.
Iām dropping the link of the hotel here, just in case you guys want to check it out!
