The two pieces i chose to display after the two week placement.
Image on the right was a sound piece, playing sounds from the city centre and the 3d sculptural, radio like piece covering it was a part of the Transcription component of the placement, I took Susan Aldworth's sound installation, The Loud Self that explores auditory hallucinations, this piece searches for people tweeting the phrase “I heard voices” which are then spoken aloud by a synthesised voice. I took this piece and made it into my own, I recorded the sounds you hear when walking through town, I then played this sound through speakers, encased in a cardboard shaped radio.
The other piece I displayed on the centre of wall, Oil on canvas , which presented the audience with two figures in high visibility jackets, representing the everyday man but also achieving the aims of the placement.
