RIP Marjane Satrapi, author of the amazing graphic novels Persepolis about living during the fundamentalist revolution in Iran in the 70’s and 80’s. She also created the animated movie based on the graphic novels, which is where these gifs come from.

I think more portal fanfic writers should take advantage of the fact that glados *is* the facility.

She's not just in her chamber, she controls the entire place!!!! She is the entire place!!!!

Need more people to get quirky with it in fanfics. Chell kisses the wall in the middle of a test to distract Glados. or cuddles with her by just like. Sitting in small room.

Instead of holding hands she drags her hand across the wall as she walks through hallways. Takes care of her by cleaning the place sometimes.

One important thing is that I'm pretty sure that Glados at some point states she can't see some parts of the facility, like, primarily behind the scenes outside of the test chambers, and there's also a co-op mission about connecting a wing of the facility to her system, so you can and should play with the fact that some parts of her are more sensitive while others are completely blind

Like, consider how she must feel when Chell goes into an area that she can't sense, she's there, she has to be, but she can't see her, she can't hear her, she can't feel her, but she HAS to be in there somewhere, so she's stuck watching all the exits she can see in hopes that she'll come out again, that she'll see her again

Conversely! The test chambers must obviously be the most sensitive, every single apparatus designed to detect when someone interacts with it, cameras watching in every spectrum of light you can build a compact sensor for, microphones listening to every breath, every heartbeat, every action that a human being could possibly preform is registered in exhaustive logs, petabytes of data dedicated to the detailed observation of a single person

I absolutely implore you to consider this aspect when you are writing your fics and you should also be really horny about it
