I feel a little bad for Burr in this song because I bet that he totally rehearsed what he was going to say to Washington when he was asking for a job. I bet he practiced for hours practically a whole monologue and it was probably going to get him a position...if Hamilton had not interrupted.

I can see him pacing back in forth in his tent rehearsing his statement, since he is not known for taking risks, carefully choosing each word to make sure that his statement to the General was as best as it can be. I bet he even had it written down in his back pocket while he was talking to Washington.

Like yeah, Washington already was going to choose Hamilton, but what if Burr was going to say something that would’ve changed his mind? Like if this was the case, where Hamilton interrupted Burr’s chance of rising up, I can more understand Burr’s resentment towards Hamilton.
