“i’m still here, i hope you know.”
They are not girls anymore; far from it. Trish still looks half a child but Blanche’s face is sinking and paling and wrinkling in ways she’d once thought impossible. How silly she’d been at 25 to think that she might be immune to the eventual ruination age inevitably brings. Were it not for Dr. Wu and her magical arsenal of serums and fillers and Botox and retinoids, Blanche Dubois would likely be unrecognizable. Even as it is she can hardly stand to look at herself in sunlight. Hence the sunglasses; 2 sizes too big for the delicacy of her porcelain face but they hide the crow’s feet that Botox can’t.
It isn’t just the physical that Blanche has fortified, shellacked, and altered. The tender thing she was buried underneath the woman she’s created; layers of artifice. From ingenue to aging starlet. Trish had known her simply as Blanche. A 26 year old girl from Mississippi with the truest, sweetest heart anyone was likely to find.
Now, she’s Blanche DuBois. So conceptualized, half a legacy already, she may as well be dead. She smiles that movie star smile; white, white teeth framed by red, red lips. She would like to hide behind it but so wholly disarmed is Blanche by Trish Walker and by the foreign sweetness of her sincerity that her smile falters. She is grateful Trish cannot see her eyes when she regains her composure. “You’re a lamb.” Oozing charm, she touches Trish gently on the squareness of her jaw. “An absolute lamb.” She reaches for the drink the waiter’s run back to her, and puts her sunglasses on the top of her head to regard Trish a little more seriously. “You look so well, darling. You really do.” Takes a long pull from her glass and hardly even blinks even though she’s drinking whisky neat. “Who do you see? Someone here in New York or LA?” She won’t talk about tenderness, can’t afford to and she’d like to make that clear to Trish. Sincerity is dead. Long live artifice.
KEATON HENSON SENTENCE STARTERS.
please forget me.
you were right, dear. i am cold and self-involved.
here’s to you, you miserable fuck.
drink up, so we can both finally die.
it seems as though i’m on my own.
sweetheart, what have you done to us?
oh, please, just come here, don’t fight with me.
don’t call me lover.
this feels right and i’m letting it.
tire of me if you will, my love but i will not tire of you.
please, do not hurt me, love. i am a fragile one.
you are the light in my eyes.
please, do not break my heart. i think it’s had enough pain to last the rest of my life.
turns out, nothing is fair.
damn it, i’m calling you mine!
does he know when you’re sad?
you don’t like to be touched, let alone kissed.
does his love make your head spin?
you know me, i worry.
could always use some pity.
you and i, we’re monsters.
i think i am sick but never can be certain.
don’t make me go outside.
i’m still here, i hope you know.
don’t talk to them about me.
believe me, this loneliness won’t go away.
the devil’s got nothing on me, my friend.
trust me, they’ll die or leave you. either way.
the sad fact is i’ve lost my mind.
your friends will always keep you weak.
tact from me is like blood from a stone.
teach me how to hold you in my arms without squeezing too damn tight.
don’t expect me to change.
i’ll never love you enough.
your life was my life’s best part.
speak every word as if it were unique.
if you must live, darling one, just live.
i can see in your eyes that you mean it.
baby, i’m lying to you.
i’m just as damn disappointed as you, only i just do better to hide it.
you must know you are lovely. you’re kind and you’re beautiful too.
though we’re young, i feel eighty years old.
i won’t move ‘til you love me.
i won’t see a light ‘til you come back to me.
please, don’t leave me.
this is your home now, don’t you forget.
is it love you regret?
just take me home.
i’m so damn scared of dying without you.
i won’t be the damnedest bit fucking surprised.
i wish i could stay with you.
i figure you love to read.
you probably love the sun.
i wish i could wake at dawn to see you without make up on.
you look the best today.
A line can be straight, or a street, but the human heart, oh, no, it’s curved like a road through mountains.
the “reason” people are fine with you taking a straight character and making them gay is you’re giving representation to people who have little to none.
when you take a canonically gay character, and make them straight/bi/ace/etc, anything but gay? you’re stripping representation from a group who needs it.
cishet people don’t need more representation when 99.99% of the media is about them. the rest of us do. of course lesbians are going to be rightfully upset and hurt when you take one of the three whole canon lesbians and make her anything but a lesbian. you’re saying you don’t care about them when you do something like that. you’re saying their lack of representation doesn’t matter to you.
yeah, you can do whatever the fuck you want, obviously. i, nor anyone else, can actually stop you from doing it. but if you’re going to take a canon lesbian and make her anything but a lesbian, you need to understand why so many lesbians are going to be upset and angry, and no longer trust you or want you near them. you can’t act like a victim when you actively show them you don’t give a fuck about them.

Platonic Requests for Affection
“I’m so tired… ”
“I don’t want to be alone.”
“My hands are shaking.”
“Don’t get up. I’m comfortable like this.”
“Please stay. I’d like some company.”
“Could I get a hug?”
“Would you pet my hair?”
“Will you sing something for me?”
“I just want to be close to someone for a little bit. Is that okay?”
“Can I lay my head in your lap?”
“You can touch my hair but don’t mess it up!”
“Here, lay down in my lap.”
“You know, you’re pretty comfy.”
“Come here, ya big lug/small fry.”
“Just take my hand. It’ll be better, I promise.”
“I’m not letting go.”
“I’ll hold you as long as you need.”
“It’s okay to stay, you know.”
“I’m so happy you’re here with me.”
“Your hugs are warm. We should do this more often.”
