do you ever think about how "i dont believe that" literally changed the plot. chip, who's had everyone he loves leave him, who can't stand to leave someone behind, changed fate. jay's still with them because he loves her.

hearing grizzlys dakota voice slowly change is crazy. because its not just him changing his mind on what dakotas voice is. youre listening to the sound of dakota damascus slipping away.

oh goddd theyre all trying to convince ollie to stay on the ground so he stays safe and ollie goes "will this mean im part of the crew?" [gut punch number 1]. AND GILLION RESPONDS WITH "what a ridiculous question" bcus of course hes part of the crew [gut punch number 2]. but now im thinking about if you give a fish a family. 'youll be family if you hit this'. [gut punch number 3]

oh god waitt chips response is "youve always been part of the crew!". thinking about 'thats right. we're family.' 'and this is the only way?'. something about conditional love and trying to be better than the people that hurt them.

jay a bit more hesitantly goes "what a silly question". thinking about how shes just sworn loyalty to this crew- to her *friends*- but they still dont know her secret and as much as she wants this to last she doesnt feel like a part of it. and 5 episodes from now her secret will come out and she'll betray them and then turn right back around and join them again. and her dad will disown her for it. yeah. conditional love and trying to be better than the people that hurt them.

chip is begging jay to do something, to say anything. thinking about chip in episode 36 saying that he'd die for his crew, but doesn't think he's earned that from them yet. thinking about how in this moment he's probably thinking how he'd die for her, and is hoping and pleading that theres a part of her that would do the same for him.

and the thing is is that she DOES. she literally trades her life for theirs. she's willing to give up being a pirate, to give up the only time she's ever truly felt alive, to save them.
