Sleep deprivation. How familiar of a term in this industry (not to exclude any others, since almost any job would require some sort of sleep loss at one point or another). Sleep deprivation was the one thing that had even the brightest and happiest of people feeling even a little down, and Yuta was no exception, so you could call it an act of desperation to ind someone who could share the same feeling of desperation, longing so selfishly for sleep.

Flying overseas wasn’t something foreign to Yuta, though. And albeit the jet lag and the loss of sleep were slowly eating at the very core of his being, something felt really nice about being in Osaka. The most obvious reason or it being Osaka is his home. Before taking the leap to becoming a trainee, and now an idol, Yuta didn’t understand why a person would claim an entire town or province in their name, but now it made sense. After being in Korea for as long as he had, he felt like Osaka in its entirety -- even Japan in its entirety -- was his home, and this was like taking a trip with a bunch of friends to his home. There was just this feeling of excitement that he got to share an experience with a lot of people and make new memories with the people he’s shared memories with before in this place.

It was then that the sleepy-high male turned his head to talk to a friendly and familiar face. He felt as though this sort of topic was one she could resonate with, and he fondly recalled her saying he could talk to her before. “Noona, what is Canada like? Is it how people describe its stereotypes?”

Be happy. As simple as it is, that’s one of the things Yuta would like to do more than anything. Not that he’s not happy now, but he wants to overall just be able to feel success in his work and his personal life to achieve happiness.

breezy: do you like sleeping?

Yes. It’s one of Yuta’s favourite things to do in his spare time. Aside from just going out and walking around or spending time with one of his friends or members.

misty: do you procrastinate a lot?

He does like to procrastinate quite a bit. Not that he does all the time, but it’s pretty prevalent when he’s not feeling like doing something that he doesn’t really have to do right away.

pickles: what are you afraid of? do you ever tell people irl about it?

Failure. It’s terrifying for anyone, and he does realise the importance of the steps to take after failure, but he’s absolutely terrified of failing in the presence of others. Those close to him know this about him, but they’re also aware of his drive to do the best he can, and has recently been taking control of this fear.

pepper: do you like meeting new people?

Yuta loves meeting new people. Making new friends, even if it’s so much as passing conversation, he wouldn’t turn someone down for a conversation.

Dear best friend,

You’ve always been too good to me. I could never ask anything of you aside from asking you just to continue being my friend, but you’ve done so much more than that — you’ve done so much more for me. You’ve become a brother to me. Not just a brother, but a brother you don’t fight with and don’t hate a solid 15% of the time.

You give me that feeling I have after recovering from a headache or stomachache. You know, the one where you feel like a great burden has been lifted from your shoulders and you feel like you could do anything because you have the strength to. Better yet, you make me realise that no matter how much progress is made, I’m still making some progress. You remind me that comparing myself to others will be my downfall. You make me feel like it’s okay to just be me.

Not that I think being me isn’t okay, but you make me feel as though being myself won’t be inconvenient for someone else. You just make it feel like… all the stress in the world is manageable and that I can make it through the day to get to my end goal because I have determination. I have the determination to be the best singer I can be, the best entertainer I can be, the best person I can be.

Because of you, I feel like I can really make it somewhere in this world, so thank you. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me, and thank you for always being with me, no matter what happens.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I don’t get to really sit down and reflect on myself like I used to, and that worries me. I spend so much time working on ‘right now’ that I worry that I’ll fall behind and be lacking later. I’m being too hard on myself, aren’t I?

I just... I miss you guys a lot. I miss my family a lot, but don’t worry about me, okay? I know that saying ‘don’t worry’ will do nothing, and you’ll still worry, but I’m in good hands. I have NCT, I have friends, too. It’s nice to have friends now. I’m sorry I don’t get to answer your calls as much as I’d like... I really want to talk to you guys more. A few weeks ago, I really felt anxious and homesick. Debuting is such a big thing... I’m used to being able to have you guys here for when something big happens, so it’s a bit lonely not to have both of you to cheer me on... that’s a stupid way of thinking, though. You’re both always cheering me on, even when I can’t see or contact you right away.
