Montreal road signs in progress!
Recently the joy of truly enjoying the things have returned. I've always been a positive person, finding solice in sunshine beams while mind is clouded.
Putting that to my art practice I've noticed the themes that kept returning. Fire hydrants, construction signs, a flower bent away from the bunch. I forgot those were the things I loved so much as a bb.

These chairs are at my local coffee shop. On days nothing comes to mind, things like these are what I draw. My composition here is hilarious, almost like the pencils chose for me ;> With wicker chairs like these I always worry that a wear-and-tear of a pretty busy place inevitably only bring refurbishing costs. Though to be fair, these have been here for 4 years or so.... would love to draw the broken one in more detail.......

Looking now, all i can think of are the emotions while painting this. That year was in anticipation of the fullscale invasion, being stuck outside your inner circle and being tangled like never before. Every color is meant, every weight is held. Waiting to make an action, to find a breathing space...

plants in coffee shops either get treated ike furniture or like loving pets. I have so much joy looking at he thriving greens and drawing a small memory of how these plants were when we first met.

A practice page i have enjoyed deeply. After looking at vyshivanka patterns for days on end I have ended up wanting to make some iterative options based on the ones I have enjoyed the most. I do wonder what shall they become?
This oil pastel sketch was made a day after I repotted my Schefflera plant and found out it was a pair! With a full life ahead of them, I wanted to commemorate its new home and growth :)
Next day, after my impulsive experiment with the pears and oil pastels, I went to a coffee shop nearby to sit on the outside. It was important to make myself know the sketchbook is no precious item and this sketch, on the other side of page one is a good showcase of what my next steps would be. Proportions or line straightness was not of importance - being barely 3x5 in in size, trusting the process was mental image that kept me drawing. I have started the sketch for the pine and it is easy to see that my heart was in the branches. The absence of continuous practice showed in my inability to easily make straight lines that were so worked out just a few years back. The tower looked way worse before it started looking a little better, and to this day, while fully aware of how messy this image is, I feel the moment in this place was caught. After 20 more minutes of moving my pencil in hopes to fix the house, I allow myself to finish the sketch, let it go and learn for the next step. I saw how much joy was drawing the pine shapes and have decided to chase that feeling, drawing what I loved around me
