I think what makes Hypnosis Mic really work for me is how terrible it is at what it’s trying to do. It’s a Fujo/Yumejo series so all the characters are supposed to some ideal male archetype specifically designed to cater to women, but the cast is filled with mentally ill disasters who can barely keep themselves together. 2 characters are homeless. One is not a human being.

The plot feels like it’s written by a magic 8 ball and the seiyuus are complete crackheads as well, creating the most unhinged franchise the world has ever seen. But at the same time it doesn’t really matter? Because everyone is just acting as themselves and they’re just having fun.

And I honestly like that a lot more than some poor guy forcing himself to be a cliche otome trope who only says generic lines in order to ‘woo women.’ So yeah, it doesn’t matter if another chapter is pointless filler or if a live performance wasn’t all that great because that’s not what I’m here for. I’m just here to have fun and see a bunch of disaster men also have fun.
