Thank you!! (And thanks to Anon who asked for the same thing) I was inspired by today’s gifset reblog. Also I’m a little drunk (shout out to Dos Hombres) and very sleep deprived so hopefully this makes sense.
The sound of multiple gunshots makes Jesse’s heart sink even deeper into his chest. He doesn’t even know the prick who made him put the handcuffs on; couldn’t care less what his name is (or was), but he does care who the hell is coming down that elevator now and what they have in store for him. Gee, where’s Jesse and how can we fuck up his life a little more today? That seems to be on the agenda for everyone he comes across lately.
Jesse murmurs to himself and silently prays to a god he’s never believed in that somehow he can get out of this situation. When he sees Walt emerge from the elevator, he exhales gratefully. Say what you will about the asshole but he always manages to be Jesse’s knight in shining armor. He’s always saving him in one way or another.
Walt walks over to him and Jesse can see he has blood spattered on his face. Walt lets the gun clatter to the floor.
“Gus is dead.”
He lets this sink in for Jesse before he continues.
“We’ve got work to do.”
Jesse quickly nods. “Yeah, man. Let’s get to work. I’m just a little... tied up right now.”
Walt picks up Jesse’s hand to take a closer look at the handcuffs; sees that they’re on tight and there’s no way for him to remove them without the key. Sighing, he goes back to find Dead Prick Number One and rifles through his jeans to find the key.
“This won’t happen again,” Walt says as he returns to Jesse. “We run things now. We will never answer to anyone ever again.”
Maybe Walt’s eyesight is impaired because he was sprayed with blood just mere minutes ago, or maybe his judgment is off due to the fact that he’d murdered at least five people in one day--a record even for him--but he gets a little closer to Jesse than he intended when he moves to take the handcuffs off. His lips actually brush against Jesse’s own. The way Jesse gasps in surprise seems to jolt something in Walt’s fucked up psyche, because...
“Jesse...” Walt whispers. They don’t have time for this--there’s still so much to do. And yet, Jesse is still handcuffed, still vulnerable, still in shock from everything that’s happend.
“Yes...” Jesse says, looking at Walt, those liquid blue eyes penetrating Walt’s very soul. “Yes.”
Walt puts his arm and Jesse and brings him closer to him, so close that he can feel Jesse’s heart beating, even through his protective gear, even through the t-shirt under it. He kisses Jesse hard, trying to prove to both of them that they are alive, that they survived, that they will always keep coming through for each other. Jesse bites Walt’s lip, and Walt sticks his tongue deep in Jesse’s waiting mouth. Jesse grabs Walt’s forearm with his one free hand and squeezes it as the kiss just goes on and on and on.
It’s probably adrenaline. It’s probably nerves. It’s probably nothing more than that.
Probably.
Walt finally manages to pull away. They regard each other, wondering what the hell they’ve gotten themselves into now.
Walt unlocks the handcuff and Jesse slides his hand out of it, holding and rubbing his aching wrist.
