Nana
Status: Abnormally Stabilized Local
Origin: Former Fallen
Home Level: Frozen Ruins
Adaptation Stage: III (Deep Adaptation)
General Information:
Nana is a former Fallen who has resided in Somnia for several years. After a long stay on the Frozen Ruins level, she underwent deep adaptation to the environment, resulting in significant physiological and behavioral changes.
Despite reaching the third stage of adaptation, Nana has not completely lost her personality. This is presumably due to the intervention of the Mediator, who stabilized her condition during the transformation phase.
Nana is currently considered both a local resident of the level and a former Fallen.
Appearance
Nana's appearance (the color palette can be based on Nana's Tomodachi in winter coloring)
Distinctive features:
* Thick light fur;
* Increased body volume due to fur;
* elongated, animal-like features;
* partially retained human facial expressions;
* light eyes with a cool tint;
* individual elements of clothing retained as part of her former personality.
From a distance, Nana's silhouette can blend into the snowy surroundings of the Frozen Ruins.
Behavior
Unlike most stage three creatures, Nana has retained the capacity for conscious thought and social interaction.
She is characterized by:
* curiosity;
* exploration of surrounding levels;
* a calm attitude toward most local creatures;
* caution toward unknown areas;
* interest in Somnia's anomalies.
Nana rarely displays open aggression without provocation.
Connection to the Frozen Ruins
The Frozen Ruins is considered her home level.
Despite the ability to leave it using the Ticket Taker, the level remains her primary point of return and the place where she has adapted most. The Somnian system perceives Nana as part of the Frozen Ruins ecosystem.
Attitude toward anomalies:
It shows particular interest in Watchers. Unlike ordinary Fallen, it does not exhibit any pronounced fear of them and can observe them for extended periods.
It is believed that anomalies perceive Nana as an acceptable and stable state of the system, rather than an error or disruption.
Threat Level:
Medium.
Despite its predatory nature and deep adaptation, Nana is not considered an aggressive creature. It poses a danger primarily when defending itself or under extreme stress.
Nana is one of the known examples of a successfully stabilized third-stage entity without complete loss of personality. Such cases are considered rare in Somnian society.
Somnia Nana
What is Somnia
Somnia is a parallel reality linked to people's dreams.
Every time a person falls asleep, there is a chance of entering Somnia instead of a normal dream.
For most people, this happens rarely and appears as a strange dream that is quickly forgotten upon awakening.
However, some people begin to experience it more and more frequently.
Over time, Somnia becomes more and more real for them.
Entering Somnia
Entering Somnia is only possible through dreams.
A person falls asleep in the real world and awakens within one of the levels of Somnia.
In the early stages, a person is almost always able to return to it upon awakening.
But the longer they exist within Somnia, the stronger the connection between them and this world becomes.
Fallen
People who enter Somnia are called Fallen.
Fallen retain:
* memory;
* personality;
* awareness that they once lived in the real world. However, prolonged exposure to Somnia gradually changes them.
Levels
Somnia consists of many levels.
Each level is a distinct space with its own rules, environment, and characteristics.
Some levels are relatively safe.
Others can be extremely hostile.
Levels can resemble:
* endless buildings;
* abandoned cities;
* snow-covered ruins;
* forests;
* tunnels;
* unknown spaces, unlike anything in reality.
Level Rules
Each level has its own logic.
What is safe on one level can be deadly on another.
Over time, the levels begin to affect the Fallen.
This influence can manifest as:
* behavioral changes;
* altered perceptions;
* physical transformations;
* adaptation to the conditions of a specific level.
Transformation
If a Fallen remains under the influence of a level for too long, the adaptation process begins.
In the early stages, the changes are reversible. In the later stages, a person gradually loses touch with their previous life.
In extreme cases, they become part of the level.
Such beings are called Natives.
Natives
Natives are former Fallen who are no longer able to return to the real world. Or
beings who permanently inhabit a specific level of Somnia and have adapted to its conditions.
They are fully or partially adapted to their level.
The degree of change varies:
* some retain remnants of personality;
* some remember only fragments of the past;
* some completely lose human consciousness.
Return
Not every person is able to escape Somnia.
The stronger the connection with the levels, the more difficult it becomes to return.
Some Fallen begin to spend more time in Somnia than in reality.
Others fall asleep one day and never wake up in their world again.
Death
Death within Somnia does not always mean permanent death.
The consequences depend on the level and condition of the Fallen. In most cases, consciousness returns to Somnia after some time.
However, each death leaves a trace.
Repeated deaths accelerate a person's connection to this world and increase the risk of transformation.
The Nature of Somnia
No one knows the origin of Somnia.
It is unknown:
* whether it was created;
* whether it has always existed;
* whether it is connected to human consciousness.
Most researchers agree on only one thing:
Somnia exists according to its own laws and is not dependent on human will.
The Main Characteristic of Somnia
Somnia is neither a dream nor reality in the conventional sense. It exists in between.
For some, it is a temporary nightmare.
For others, a second home.
For some, it is a place from which it is impossible to leave.
