Instead of 'fixing' something that wasn't broken, may I suggest that Tumblr staff consider these changes instead:
Ability to Mute someone - NOT unfollow, MUTE
"I don't want to see this post again" - shows in your feed with button saying it's been blocked but you can unblock if you so desire, like with filtered tags
Ability to sort your follower list - moots, by length of time, etc
Ability to post only to your moots
Ability to make note of why you blocked a blog
Of all the things to tinker with, I cannot fathom why the reblog chain was first thing on the list. We are not a social media site, we are a blogging site, and essentially neutering the way we reblog things and cutting the original poster out of the loop is mind-bogglingly counterproductive to any sense of community.
Really, really, really bad idea.
