A/N: Almost a year later, and I’m back, with some Ridoc (soon) and Brennan content cuz before Liam widowed me, I was already widowed by Violet’s big brother.

I was thinking about their dragons being somehow linked like clutchmates or mates themselves. Still, I feel like exploring something else that would make them connected, but not in a way like Xaden and Violet, like if you die, I die, more like I’d literally forever feel your loss if something bad ever happens to you. 

You would be on patrol, somewhere considerable far from where he was, living your life, aware, on guard, calm, just the usual, despite the growing spirits. Then it happens, not subtle, not slow, a full blow, tighten your chest, breathe catching as if you just have taken it wrongly, it feels like a panic attack at first, something that hollows you out, gut sinking, knees weaken, grief,  and then you realize it’s not you. It’s him. Brennan. Braisteach stiffens mid-flight; he felt it too, his voice like a low growl in your head. “He’s faltering.” 

Meanwhile, Brennan is perfectly composed in a war council, expression betraying nothing, borderline bored as he doesn't even blink, taking all the information being discussed. But underneath the table,  his nails pressed so hard against his palm that they drew blood. He felt something too, just a flicker of your concern invading him, heart clenching a bit tighter, something almost like fear; he knew you felt it too.  “It’s nothing,” he’d murmured through the bond seconds before it shut it down, before you could complain or ask further, because shutting down and disappearing feels easier than being comforted.

Almost a year later, I’m knee-deep in writing about Fourth Wing again, but this time, I’m building the full lore, with dragons (names, colors, personalities, and all).

I always imagined myself as some kind of shield, but since Mira already is one, I thought about other signets I’d like to have. I’ll be using them when writing scenarios or rambling about Fourth Wing, because we’re so fucking back!

Bsf!Simon, who is actually a bit too verbal in private, but mostly for curses, “Are you dumb?” “Shut up, you’re looking good, stop whining,” judgmental stare. “I swear to god, I can’t stand hearing the name of this guy anymore.” 

Bsf!Simon with too many meaningful looks, and audible smirks that sound like a scoff, but you just know he’s proud you hit someone square in the jaw or told a nagging girl off, while you were having a good time in the pub.

Bsf!Simon, who will silently lay his head on your lap when you’re watching movies together in each other’s dorm. *small approval ‘mhm’s’ if you start to play with his hair.

Bsf!Simon just gets in awe every time you show up unannounced, dressed up or not, he just stares, softly, “what?” you ask, brow raised. “Nothing-” he would brush it off, trying to look unimpressed 

Bsf!Simon, who wouldn’t go easy on you during drills, “Come on, you can take it.” “I've seen you take worse…. what was his name again- oh right,” and he’d smirk when he got you all riled up again

Bsf!Simon, who with one single look would already know something was off “who did it ?”

Bsf!Simon who goes “look i don’t care what type of shit you spend your money with just don’t bother me” and then let’s you test all you new skincare products on him, Spa Headband and all

Bsf!Soap, who was just a colleague before Special Ops and became your biggest anchor after you met in the enlistment, randomly — none of you knew the other would be there — but a familiar face suddenly made everything so light.

Bsf!Soap, who treats you so well, people think you're secretly dating, when in fact you're not — you've just been through a lot together and ended up being each other's anchors.

Bsf!Soap, who is the most easygoing person you’ve ever met and avoids unnecessary conflicts whenever he can, and still pets your head and holds you tight when you're having a bad day, and on top of that, doesn't think twice before standing up for you. "What happened? Nah-, you're not going alone, I'm going with you." "Who do we need to beat?" Plus, Simon will just silently agree he's included in your little protection squad. And don't get him wrong — he knows you're perfectly capable of taking care of yourself — but if you're sad and hurting, he'll step in.

Bsf!Soap, who gossips with you in the mess hall during meals, before and after missions like you guys are still in high school — same old jokes, talking about the same people from your old and new circle — and it never gets old.

Bsf!Soap, who actually waits for you to have lunch ‘cause he knows you hate eating alone. (Bonus info: he slices your beef for you — "Girl, how are ya planning to get alive on the battlefield when ya're losing to a steak? They really are lowering their standards—")

Bsf!Soap, who compliments you — no ulterior reason — it's candid, it's unexpected, it's genuine and always catches you off guard, ‘cause it's accompanied by a soft smile, some teasing, and then a hug, specifically in this order.
