ummmm, little things?? like he smokes weed SO, and also drank a little bitwhen he was under twenty one. but that’s about it. he’s not too much of a law breaker.

intimate get-togethers for suuuure. luke partied some in college, but it was never really his thing.

depends on the circumstances... if he’s in a really good mood, he can be pretty approachable. but if he’s tired, or grumpy, after work or just not having a good day, he can look veeeeery standoffish. he’s one of those people that you get what you see.

One of his coworkers, a bright-eyed blonde who seemed far too bubbly and friendly to be working in a stuffy office, had asked him to watch her little puppy, a sweet Cavalier King Charles spaniel, while she visited her parents, and he had complied, on his way back from a long walk with the dog. As he turned and walked down the street, the little puppy began barking and licking at the first person that she saw. Blushing bright red, Arnie pulled on her leash gently until she sat, panting. His face still bright red, he called, “Sorry about that! She really likes people.”

Luke, a little hungover, drug himself down the street in the direction of home when a little beast began attacking his shoe. Turning down at the puppy, Luke cracked a little smile and bent down to offer his hand, which then became covered in saliva. “It’s cool, I love dogs. We had two growing up.” Luke turned his head back up at the owner. “Oh, hey Arnie. Did you always have a dog?”

She was walking her bike, instead of riding it, because her left shoulder was saddled with a large tote bag that kept thumping painfully against her hip and in her right hand, she was holding- a ceramic candleholder, goofily hand-painted to look like a cactus. It was the kind of thing that couldn’t be explained without launching into a full story of how she’d gotten stuck with it. From the weird looks she’d been getting on the sidewalk, Marz was pretty sure the vaguely-phallic shape was incriminating enough on it’s own.

At the next crosswalk, she made further attempts to stuff it into her overflowing bag- no luck. She’d resigned herself to this particular walk of shame when a familiar face approaching from the opposite direction caught her eye- she raised a hand in greeting, before realizing it was the hand holding the green monstrosity that never should have seen daylight past arts-and-crafts. “Let me answer your first question right off the bat- this is not what it looks like.”

Luke was on his way to his favorite sub shop, as he’s been craving a meatball sub for about six hours now. Though, his very important trip to the next couple of blocks came to a pause as he saw Marz- he was fairly sure- walking down the street carrying... well, carrying a dildo, it looked like. Doing a quick look on both sides of the street, he jogged across to meet her at the crosswalk. 

Smiling at her greeting, Luke slowed to a stop beside her and peered down at the... thing.  “Getting creative, I see. So, what is it, then? ” He asked, a laughing smile on his lips, as he then reached out a hand for the strap of her bag, “Can I? You gotta carry your dildo, though. I still have too much dignity for that.”

It was habit that lead Tristan to this coffee shop; it had to be. There was no other way to explain how, after a day and a half of pure hell, (sure, personally speaking he might cringe big time at the word budget, but professionally it was his mantra: why did all of his clients want Vogue: Living levels of beauty when they had peanuts to spend?) he navigated the warren of Brooklyn on autopilot and ended up in the one place he’d sworn up and down never to visit again.

As he stepped into the cafe’s warmth, Tristan glanced outside at the snow that fell softly but steadily. He reflected glumly that suffering the memories of Bean Up was preferable to schlepping home in that weather, but it still wasn’t the most enticing of arguments. Taking off his hat and smoothing his hair in one motion, Tristan moved up to the front counter. God, there was even the same barista. How fucking depressing.

After ordering a small soy macchiato which cost six dollars fifty, Tristan drifted almost by rote towards the small table beside the window. The last time he was here… Ugh, no. He and Leah had promised they’d never mention He Who Must Not Be Named. The trouble was that was hard to remember when he was sitting in the same place, on a similar sort of day, and feeling very much the way he did after he and Luke –

Stop it. Tristan didn’t do sad moods. His father used to say he ought to pull himself up by his bootstraps, which was a quaint but memorable expression, so Tristan resolved to do exactly that. When his coffee arrived he settled in to taking out his journal and figuring out his current project. So intent was he in distracting himself that when the cafe door opened, letting in a gust of cold air, Tristan didn’t look up at all. It was only when he began gazing towards the barista, thinking about ordering some biscotti, that he recognized the tall figure by the counter.

This was why he couldn’t have nice things. This was why he wasn’t allowed in this stupid hipster cafe. Biting his lip, Tristan told himself to look away from Luke, to look anywhere other than at that same floppy haircut and set of broad shoulders. And then Luke turned around, and they saw each other, and Tristan wanted very much for the ground to open up and swallow him whole.

It’s been one of those days. Luke was so close to going off on one of the mother’s he nannys for, which would have been fucking stupid because she pays damn good. He might have gotten fired if little Hannah hadn’t clung to his leg and begged him not to go once his shift was over. It was just... very difficult dealing with rich people who lived in their high and mighty world of privilege and getting everything they want in life.

Luke’s been to Bean Up a few times over the past few months, as he decided not to let that prick dictate where he spends his time. So what they shared memories there? He didn’t give a fuck anymore, and Luke pushed through the front doors and walked to the counter like nothing ever happened there. He wondered if the Barista remembered him, however. 

Coffee and apple in hand, all was going well, though just as Luke turned to find a seat, he saw him. Tristan. Stopping in his tracks, Luke was quite honestly in shock. Honestly, what are the fucking odds? It was damn near comical. And he stared for a good couple of seconds before finally taking a few slow steps closer and saying, “So, are you stalking me or something? When the hell do you come here anymore, Tristan?” He wasn’t being loud, but a person stared between them as they passed by to the counter.

“Better than it did on me.” It was a find from Worship, Marz had brought it home and Kat had stolen it away– though it was clear that maybe it was better suited for someone who wasn’t either of them. “Keep it.” Katrina was already shouldering her bag, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Fuck that, I don’t think I could take anymore Italian after a movie of it. How about Pho?” She straightened her scarf, “How’re the brats, I forgot to ask.”

“Yeah, right. I’ll take the compliment, though.” Luke wasn’t too big on hats that you couldn’t find at a skate shop, and this one just might will end up in the back of his closet, but he appreciated it nonetheless. “Thanks kitty Kat,” he smiled and finally got his ass up out of the chair a few seconds later. “Yeah, fine, whatever.” Luke shrugged and stuffed his hands into his pockets. “Brats. Jimmy kept demanding I take him to Wallyworld, and when I did, he got mad because there were no rides. And then Grace, well, she threatened to sue me like, 10 times yesterday which... I guess she heard Debra-” her mother, “-saying that, which isn’t a stretch. I really did thought she’d sue me one time because I ran into her BMW and made the alarm go off. Like, not with my car, but my body.”

Peter gave a lazy wave with his hand, as if he was going to charge a friend for pronouncing time of death on his kitchen appliance. “Nothing, man. No work, not cost. All I did was take a look at it.”

That brought a little smile to Luke’s face. A silver lining to the situation, if you will. “Damn, really? Thanks man. I’ll have to buy you lunch sometime or something for dragging your ass over here. And I didn’t even clean,” he added, glancing around at the messy kitchen.

“Why do people eat ketchup,” Jameson muttered as he dipped his fry into a puddle of mustard that he’d squirted onto his plate, the corners of his lips tugged down into a grimace at the idea that people actually chose to eat their food with the disgusting condiment. “It’s all sugar and tomatoes. Those things aren’t mean to coexist in one bottle.”

“Look, ketchup is God’s gift to Earth.” The way Luke was looking down at the other guy’s plate was only able to be described as pure disgust. “Who the fuck eats fries and mustard, anyway? You’re like, zero point one percent of the population that likes that shit.”

She shrugged, plucking the felt from her head and settling it over Lucas’ curls. “You’re supposed to be absorbing the culture and telling me how many stars it deserves for Rotten Tomatoes.” Kat reached for her phone, scrolling through her emails, glancing back up at her friend with a grim smile. “Three hours. I’ll buy you dinner?”

Reaching up a hand, Luke touched the hat on his head. “Hows it look?” A smile pulled at the corners of his mouth, which fell at three hours. Honestly, he’d rather sleep after the long day. But he just couldn’t say no to her. “Fine,” he sighed. “Only because I love you. And I can’t pass up food. Italian?”

Lucas let out a loud groan before she even finished asking, leaning further into the chair and letting his head roll back against it. “How am I supposed to stay awake?” His gaze fixated on the ceiling, he looked back to answer her question with, “yeah, you look great." He sighed. "How long is this thing anyway?”
