Been thinking about the circumstances that tend to cause Simon to act out, and what the perfect storm of circumstances would be to make him and Grace like each other as LITTLE as possible. :) At first.
my honest opinion
been pondering how this year i've been feeling more connected to/interested in exploring the characters of Natalia/Berkovich/Rhea than the Waywards and then i realized I'm almost Natalias and Rheas age now...
this paracosm started when I was liiike... 13?? And now I'm 26. Technically everyone from that paracosm ages with me but the... main story? primary arc?? takes place in 2005 when the adults are in their mid 20s to early 30s and the main charcters are 16-19. no wonder I haven't felt super connected to everyone except maybe Antonin.
this is kinda nice too, though. the adults were always kinda underdeveloped cause their role used to be literally The Adults.

spending the summer at my grandparents is actually rougher than expected cause yes i have someone to watch me so i don't accidentally dissociate out of existence and someone who makes sure i eat and go outside and exist as a human being. but also i am misgendered/called by my deadname 24/7 no exceptions despite me having a nice heart to heart about this with my grandma last year and there is no effort being made and it feels like i'm not being respected at all 👍
it was kind of over for me tonight when my grandma showed me a video she was laughing about on her phone and it was a AI slop clip of queer people being interviewed on the street and of course they were portrayed as outlandish freaks to laugh and point at. hit her with a 1000 yard stare and went to bed what do you expect from mee
the way that dinner in america is about an autistic girl who's autonomy as an adult with desires is not respected by anyone around her and all she wants is to be punk but no one in her life lets her experience this because they want to see her as this delicate girl who doesn't know her own boundaries & limits until the punk guy comes into her life and sees this weird girl who doesn't try to be anything except exactly what she is. and he sees exactly how punk she is and he doesn't infantilize her and he wants her to break the rules with him - rules she's never been able to follow in the first place - and he sees her quirks and oddities as good, as beautiful, as punk. which is all she's wanted her whole life
That's why I love this movie so much because I relate to Patty so much. And honestly we all need a person like Simon in our lives...

my granny is a tour guide and it's really cute to see her sitting in the living room with her big colorful hair rollers in while she goes through her notebooks (filled with dense bubbly handwriting), reciting parts of her tour to herself, while i'm waiting for her cause i'm driving her to work. idk maybe life isn't so bad sometimes. i love my granny
also she does her tours in historical costume as a baker's wife, and she looks SO cool in it. in my opinion. and i am of course correct. parts of the costume she assembled herself cause the one the city gave her was too barebones. my granny is epic

Mallory's Kinlist ₊˚⊹☆
Mallory is one of my most online paras with a pretty extensive kinlist so I thought I'd put them all together in one post (I'm sure I'm forgetting some anyhow). She's a delusional magical girl herself, so some of these are genuinely pretty accurate, and others are based on a version of herself that she pretends/wants to be.
