Pursuit of Jade: Ep 27 Recap - I Need to Marry My Wife
Ep 27: Fan Changyu is pissed off, as she should be. Xie Zheng is angry too that she risked her life to replace him. He used his sword to stake the horse which was a cool move. She says she has nothing to do with a marquis and questions that any of his injuries are real. He replies that she is the one who needs to live, and if he dies she can set up a new life, but as long as he's alive she's his. Fan Changyu is not impressed and he gets hit in the face again.

The youngest member of the Pig Butcher squad was stabbed, Fan Changyu feels guilty that she didn't kill the young enemy soldier who attacked him. Luckily it was a false alarm! Princess Doctor assures them that he's fine (and that they are silly).
Sui Yuanqing is having arrows pulled out of him (ouch). The enemy general learns Fan Chanyu killed their big bad other General and he refuses to believe it. They decide to withdraw to Lucheng. Gongsun Yin has a scratch on his arm and he wants to play it up for sympathy with the Princess, proving that these two men have learned nothing. Luckily Tutor Tao shows up instead!

It turns out Tutor Tao is looking for Fan Changyu, whom he considers half his disciple. The Princess runs over and is pissed off that she was lied to. Now we have the much bigger liar, Xie Zheng, who tries to apologize to Fan Changyu. She says she isn't that angry about him lying but since Yan Zheng isn't real, they aren't married and she as a pig butcher can't marry a marquis. He says he'll get the emperor to decree their marriage, which is just... tone deaf. He proposes again as himself and she rejects him.

Xie Zheng, Tutor Tao, and Gongsun Yin all talk about what to do now that they've won and how things are going in court. Wei Xuan (the useless cousin of Xie Zheng from way earlier) will probably try to claim credit for the victory. Tutor Tao thinks they should let him so the Wei and Li factions fight it out. They also discuss the Crown Princess Eastern Palace fire and Sui Yuanhuai. Xie Zheng and Tutor Tao then talk about Fan Changyu without knowing they are discussing the same person. Xie Zheng asks Tutor Tao to adopt her so she has a proper background.
Xie Zheng can't sleep so he decides to spear fish. Fan Changyu joins him. She says she can't sleep and he tells her about his experience being unable to sleep after battles. It's very vulnerable and sweet.

They spar and then eat some fish. Xie Zheng says he never wanted to get married before because he would just leave a widow, but now he wants to live (aw).
She IS the best woman
He asks Fan Changyu what she wants to do and she wants to rebuild Lin'an. He's all for that because he misses living there. It seems like they are reconciled.
Additional note: Fan Changyu forgives Xie Zheng because he's finally totally honest with her. Like admitting that he couldn't sleep either after battles is so important and something that he wouldn't tell anyone else
And then him saying that Lin'an was the happiest time of his life. It really means that everything they had was real, even if he lied about his identity. These were such great scenes.

It just proves how fated Xie Zheng and Fan Changyu are :D They even became the disciples of the same teacher XD But also, I like how Grand Tutor Tao is so chill about Xie Zheng marrying a commoner, instead, he praises his devotion to the girl even before knowing it's Fan Changyu. Xie Zheng was lucky to have such a teacher :3
