Sometimes, you think about loving her and you know that you will hurt her.

Sometimes, you think about loving her, and you think about all of the unsaid everythings you keep locked inside the hollow space in your chest like you can replace something long lost if you just try hard enough. You look at her and you wonder if this, truly, is strength. You look at her and wonder if, perhaps, you’ve learned to be a person all wrong.

What was it they said to you once? You don’t remember anymore                                        (it feels like a lifetime ago) but you find yourself thinking that maybe there’s more to it than going it alone.

These days, there are times when you open your mouth to speak, and you are afraid. You have always thought yourself fearless, and yet every time you think to tell her, the words never make it past the roof of your mouth and you walk away with a shaking in your bones.

Tell her what, you wonder. You try it out, sometimes, rolling the words around on your tongue to see if anything feels right, if anything feels like the ache that starts in your ribcage and spirals out past your shoulder blades and down to the tips of your fingers, if anything feels like the whole truth, if anything feels a little less like evasion. 

I have hidden pieces of my reality from you. 

I have loved you but for the emptiness in my chest. 

I have never felt anything on this earth but the fullness you put in me. 

I have been lost for years but thinking of you feels a little like coming home to a place I’m not allowed in. 

There are rules, and breaking them has never felt so good as when I’m with you.

I don’t care if Hillary Clinton is corrupt. I don’t care if she lies, if she cheats, if she eats bowls of newborn chipmunks for breakfast.

She is literally the only thing standing in the way of a fascist dictator becoming President of the United States with a Republican majority congress that guarantees he can do anything he wants and nothing will be able to stop him.

I was and still am a Bernie supporter, and I hate a lot of things about Clinton, but none of that matters anymore. If Trump is elected, people are going to die. Women are going to die when Roe v Wade is overturned and Planned Parenthood is defunded. LGBTQ people are going to die when conversion therapy is further legalized and more bathroom bills are passed. POC are going to die as Trump rounds up Mexican immigrants, gives more power to the police, and fuels the fires of Islamaphobia. Poor people are going to die as Obamacare gets overturned and further cuts are made to welfare programs. And that’s just in this country. That’s not even taking account the all-too-likely outcomes of Trump starting new wars in the Middle East and having control of nuclear bombs that he’s said he ‘would not rule out’ using.

This is no longer even about ‘the lesser of two evils’. This is not ‘scare tactics’. This is literally life and death. Don’t fuck around and tell me you’re voting third-party or not voting at all, because you don’t have that luxury.

Especially because friend break ups don’t always come with the courtesy of an actual break up. Friends can just stop talking to you and we let it happen. They don’t sit you down and say “hey it’s not you it’s me” or “I just don’t see us working out” They say “sorry my mom said no” or “I’m busy that day” until you eventually stop asking or you drift apart. They aren’t obligated to give an explanation and sometimes that hurts more. Friend break ups don’t usually offer closure.

I’m just super fucking bitter that once the flint water crisis got it’s 15 minutes of fame people stopped giving a shit. The water is still poisoned, people! Donations have plummeted and people have been forced back into drinking and bathing with the water! The medical effects of this are astounding, cases of legionnaires disease have skyrocketed, people are having seizures, people are having weird rashes break out over their body, people (including me!) are having their blood poisoned, and it’s not just lead! it’s coliform bacteria! it’s THMs! it’s all in the water and it gets into the bloodstream and breaks down blood vessels, causing bruising and petechiae and internal bleeding and no one gives a shit anymore and it’s only gotten worse like how many people are going to have to die until people realize this is still a problem

I would like to add that the people of Flint cannot sell their houses, because selling a house with leaded water is illegal. Additionally, households with children can’t stop paying for the water because living in a house without running water is cause for CPS to take their kids. Flint has been living this way for over two years. 

The people of Flint are trapped by the legal system. And it is only the most high profile case out many cities with a similar problem.

self-confidence, i’m realizing, is a lot deeper than just thinking i’m beautiful and being free in who i am. it also includes being confident in my decisions and trusting myself to be committed to the things i want to do. to step outside of my comfort zone and assure myself that i will be okay in doing so. this kind of self-confidence will help me see the success i want to see.
