I think it's funny that quite a few people I chat with on this blog about RPing on cherubplay are also doing the HSWC, but are highly unlikely to know which participant is me. My dreamwidth url is totally different from this blog or my main blog or really, any other handle I use in fandom.

In other news, I am doing the HSWC! My life is more settled, but I seem to be taking another hiatus from RP to focus on writing fills for the competition. (I'm excited.)

I'm always really turned off by prompts that center around the character having [JOB X] only to joyously describe how simple and responsibility-free [JOB X] happens to be. In zero of these cases does it seem like the prompter has the faintest clue how whatever industry that is happens to work, and why would anyone want to write with someone who doesn't understand the details and specifics of their own premise?

Here are 50 NSFW prompt ideas that don't involve slavery, rape, pedophila, or someone once again being caught masturbating.

1. A character is being delivered to their arranged marriage with a warmongering ruler. Which is just as they always planned, now they can take over.

2. A government agency is making super-soldiers/heroes, but the serum is made from the DNA of Horrorterrors.

I'd want to read this one more than write it but it's definitely playing with tropes I like.

6. Some characters enter a ‘Masturbate for Charity’ marathon.

I just think this would be hilarious, specifically if they make it into a competition.

8. A genie offers a character three wishes - not because the genie is a slave, but because genies are assholes and they like to fuck around with people.

I want every opportunity to write prankster assholes.

9. Even though witches are normally persecuted in the Western Kingdoms, a character has to escort one across three provinces so they can cure the heir to the throne.

This definitely pings my fantasy likes, though how strongly would depend on worldbuilding.

17. There’s an order of ancient, esoteric assassins who work only in groups of three. Among the group, it’s considered normal and healthy for all three members to be in a polyamorous relationship.

Wouldn't want to try this on cherubplay, but polyamory is my jam and poly + dangerous lifestyle that likely requires ultimate trust and teamwork? Way up my alley.

28. A Horrorterror is cursed to walk the Earth in human form.

Less "I would do" more "have pretty much already done." With bonus "I still approve anyway."

39. Two characters find out they’re reincarnated lovers. Alternately, two characters find out they’re reincarnated lovers, but realize they’re happy with the new people they’ve met in their current life.

Might not wanna write it, but I'd read the second version. Bonus points for, being genuinely happier with their new SOs but feeling honor-bound, if not literally genuinely bound or at least pressured by some external impetus, to restore the status quo of their previous life.

44. A demon is sent to guard a character so they can fulfill their destiny as the harbinger of the apocalypse.

I measurably dislike demonstuck to the point where I just cannot personally imagine writing with or as a demon character but I love this prompt for basically playing entirely DIFFERENT demon-related tropes straight, and avoiding the usual trite demonstuck cliches. .

I always feel really lazy running with plots other people have suggested as the "creator," but there are a lot of really cool ideas in this post and it seems entirely set up toward that purpose, so hey, I might at some point write a prompt or two for some of these. Mostly I just really wanna put my spin on that genie premise.

I meant to go to sleep, but instead I wrote a new prompt for the first time in quite a while, and am inordinately proud of it (especially relative to the level of sleep deprivation I may or may not be operating on at this juncture). But then I realized it's for a somewhat less popular/niche kink with somewhat exacting character preferences (that rule out cherubplay's seeming two favorite ships for this character) and it's three in the morning EST.

Now is probably not the best time to go fishing for takers.

I laughed at the nipples watching the observer, that is some straight up body horror shit, and therefore exactly the sort of thing I would enjoy writing. I presently have no idea how to set up a premise that would include these things but if any of you beautiful people find it within you to figure out how to indulge me, I would be so down.

Still side-eyeing cherubplay length fetishists.

Just because I CAN write you a novel per post, doesn't mean I WANT to write you a novel per post. In fact, I flat out do not want to write above 500 words in a single post. If I've crested 600 words without the other person's input, I would rather be writing fanfiction.

There have been instances where I've written a bit more than 500 words in one go for really pivotal points of RPs, that require a good deal of description and stage direction and character introspection, but like hell do I want that to be the standard.

Longer is not better. Stop backing people into this textual dick-measuring contest because it teaches RPers to pad out their posts with fluffy bullshit and I am fucking sick of reading fluffy bullshit posts.

This is something I do periodically, because I'll wait a month for a fun plot if another RPer needs a month, but I also like to know when an RP has simply run its course. But the timing of this post is so serendipitous. I just sent one of my favorite, longstanding RPs a little poke, and found out they'd totally written a reply ages ago only to have it get eaten. They had no idea I was therefore waiting on them. This advice? Good in my book.

I have to agree! I do 2 or more characters all the time, either as background stuff, or because I need someone else to get certain events rolling.

I think the thing of it is, are you /expected/ to, or do you do it on your own? Because I know the idea becomes instantly unappealing if someone demands or assumes I'll be doing more than one character.

I'm definitely happy to hear the agreement! It's also why I sort of want visibility for the idea that entitled expectations of character juggling are being turned down as "no, you're being demanding and rude" and not "no, because this is Too Hard and it should be expected to never happen."

Because it isn't inherently difficult, imo, it's that having a partner take it for granted is a pretty big red flag for a lazy partner who won't be fun.

Lets say you’re playing Sollux and you make him think Equius’ robots are stupid, and then your partner has Equius think that his robots are definitely not stupid? Why would Equius just randomly think that he has no idea what Sollux is thinking

This is obviously "your mileage may vary" but I sometimes really enjoy a sort of meta conversation back and forth through the narrative.

Sure, if it's a single thought like "His robots sure were stupid," using your narrative to go "No they aren't!!" just sounds like CLUNKY WRITING, but sometimes I'll write a post where, for example, the narrative includes my character remembering a specific facet of their childhood. If my partner decides to riff off that and examine something similar about their character's childhood, in a way that flows with the scene and the rest of their prose, I don't think it's lazy and "fluff writing so they don't have to create the content of a post themselves." I think it's neat background, and the sort of little insight into a character that I love to see because it shows the other writer rounding out their character.

I agree that it comes off as really entitled when prompts simply demand that the other RPer juggle two characters for their specific threesome fantasies.

But I also don't understand the popular viewpoint that writing more than one character in an RP is this impossible undertaking. I'd prefer not to be writing two characters in every single post, and I'm not interested in juggling two characters for a threesome with a lazy sub who just wants someone else to textually get them off, but I bring an additional character or two besides whichever primary one I set out to write into my RPs with decent frequency.

It's not an insurmountable difficulty, I just prefer to do it in an RP I know I'm having fun with, rather than have it demanded of me.

I'm not tagging this, but.

I genuinely do not fucking understand the tag's fixation with people who RP "gross" things having to use the absolute "grossest" word for it. Trust me, most people who RP noncon are aware that what they are writing is rape. Most people who write shota are aware that what they're writing involves pedophilia.

The point of putting a warning on any piece of writing being presented to strangers is to make them aware of the content contained within so they can protect themselves from material that will upset them. The words "noncon" and "underage" more than adequately convey that the upcoming prompt will have either RAPE OR PEDOPHILIAC CONTENT. It is sufficient to protect the people who the authors of prompts WITH those labels have made the genuine effort to protect!

So people seriously need to stop crapping their fucking pants about this shit because words DO have meaning and these words DO convey the necessary information.
