#know your fandom history
Rewatching these scenes, you see clear patterns in how Daniel and Jasper treat Guy.
Daniel talks like a jerk, but his actions show something else. He feeds Guy information about his mother. He calls him kid. He signals a protective, older figure energy. Even Burton from episode 1 shows the same protective tone with Guy.
Jasper is the opposite. He pushes into Guy’s personal space. He uses pet names like amigo, dude, puppy, 'baby'. He tests limits. Nothing about his dynamic feels paternal. It feels charged, deliberate. It's giving attraction on Jasper's part. I'm loving it.

proshipping does NOT translate to any real-life incidents. proshipping is only about fictional scenarios only. so if anyone tells you “proshipping sometimes translates to real-life” they are wrong.
I am begging people to please understand what it means before throwing the word around. proship literally just means fiction is not reality, anybody can enjoy whatever they want when it comes to fiction, harassing real people over fiction is bad.
humans are so lucky and privileged to be able to have creativity and create art. a shame more and more people are choosing to let ai/robot rob them the joy of creating
actually im doing really well except for the fact that everything makes me sad and the things that dont make me sad make me angry. but other than that im fine
reblog if you’re anti censorship and against harassing real people over fictional characters
not my tweet or my fic (and there’s a good chance of this comment being a bot) but yeah, don’t do this. sure, some writers wouldn’t mind having fanfics (or direct continuation) of their fanfics written by someone else. some may even be thrilled and happy. but the fandom etiquette is that if you want to write a fanfic or a continuation of someone’s fanfic, YOU POLITELY ASK THE WRITER FOR THEIR PERMISSION. not their readers.
also 5 months isn’t long at all. 5 months is 5 minutes when it comes to fanfics. I’ve waited years for my favorite fics to get updated (one of my favorite fanfics was updated by the author after 13 years) and I’ve never said anything to them about “it’s been ___ years, I don’t think it will get updated anymore”. because another fandom / fanfic etiquette is that fanfic writers write for free in their free time, they don’t owe you anything. maybe they will update one day. maybe they won’t. if you want your favorite fic to get updated, you comment something like “this is good!! I’m excited for what happens next” and maybe your positive comment will motivate the author to update. but you don’t say “it’s been ___ months or years”. fanfics writers write for themselves and their own enjoyment. they’re just kind enough to let you read their works for free. stop being rude and entitled to fanfic writers.
don’t know who needs to hear this but ao3 is not a social media. it’s an archive. a library. please stop treating it like twitter or tiktok

AO3 saying they will not be banning AI-generated works on their platform
I agree with them and I respect them for this. no, I am not a fan of AI-generated fics, but as I’ve said many times before in the past:
AO3 was built with the “complete anti censorship” stance. them banning AI-generated works would be them going against their own core values of “no censorship”. and “no censorship” means nothing is censored. and that includes works you dislike for ethical or whatever reasons.
as of now, most (I believe) of creators who use AI to write for them properly tag their works as “AI-generated”. so you can safely filter these works out if you don’t wish to consume them. but I have no doubt the majority (if not all) of them will stop tagging their works as AI if AO3 actually bans AI works, which means these AI works will be untagged. you can never know for sure if the fic you read is AI or not, since they aren’t properly tagged anymore.
whether or not you like it, AI is getting better and more human-like, meaning it’s getting harder to spot when a fic is AI.
speculation, witch hunts, wrongful accusations and harassment harm real writers, as well as writing community as a whole, as much as AI does, if not more.
it’s impossible for AO3 to effectively ban and remove “only AI-generated works” without innocent human-made works getting wrongly marked as AI and deleted in the process. so if AO3 were to ban AI-generated works, it would mean
there was a chance of a human-made work getting wrongly marked as AI and taken down
there was a chance of an AI-generated work being wrongly accepted as human-made
fandom drama could and would cause innocent writers to get their human-made works falsely reported as AI
human-made fics that “upset people”, in terms of contents, could and almost certainly would be reported as AI, because there were people who “found the fics inappropriate/disgusting and wanted them taken down” — and the only way they could do that was by falsely reporting these fics as AI
AO3 volunteers would have to decide which works were AI “based on vibes alone”. and not only was it impossible for them to always make the correct judgement, there simply weren’t enough volunteers and time for every single work that was reported as AI to be thoroughly read by a human volunteer
no, “AI detector” is unreliable and the machine itself is also AI — it’s known to have incorrectly marked human-made works as AI and AI-generated works as human-made.
TL;DR — no matter how much you hate AI-generated fics, banning them would do more harm than good.
Wait im confused, is proship a good thing?
proship means “being against censorship (a fascist means to control people) and also against harassing real people over fiction”. that’s it. that’s all.
do you think it’s a good thing to stand up against harassment and fascists? because that’s all proship is about.
Pearl-clutching over shipping is dumb, but y'all have GOT to stop calling everything that's retrogressive "fascist".
I mean censorship is literally a nazi and fascist tool, so I wouldn’t know what else to call it
Like...the rise in fascism offline and the rise in censorship and harassment in fandom spaces are not wholly self-contained events. Fandom isn't separate from real life, it's part of it. Don't think we don't notice those who call advocates for weird and taboo art "degenerates", a VERY loaded term.
Censorship, regardless of the content being censored, IS fascist. It's fascist when it's Moms For Liberty trying to ban books with POC and LGBT representation from schools, it's fascist when people burn books with "dangerous" messages, it's fascist when it's online harassment campaigns over posting content for the "wrong" ship.
There is NO good censorship.
Wish more people understood that the tools of fascisim are never going to be obvious. They are always going to be quiet, little things that SEEM innocuous. Like purity in Fandom. But it comes down to Thought Policing, which is the number one tool in the fascist toolbelt. I'm sorry young people have been so brainwashed that they can't see the loss of freedom outside the scope of Fandom, but it is a direct reflection of the values a certain part of society is trying to push, and harassing people over their LITERAL THOUGHTS is one of the first rules in the Nazi Handbook.
