“Ryu is my ‘first born’ and only son.” Joohyun chuckled. She didn’t really give birth to the male herself, but rather, it was just a term of endearment between them that was established long ago. “If I were to be honest, I think Ryu is really, really protective of me. Ah, what kind of mother am I, making my son do all the protecting?” Her nose wrinkled up, slightly disappointed at herself. Deep down, though, she was rather thankful of him for doing so. “He’s one of the few males who I can talk about my secrets to. Sometimes, I get really deep to the point where I almost cry in front of him. He must think that his mom is really ugly at times.” She laughed. Of course, that was all out of joking. But she wondered if he didn’t mind to him at times. “But Ryu believes in me a lot and trusts me a lot as well, and I believe that I have a mindset that is mutual as well. He listens to me well and is always there to offer me hugs and even words of comfort. He’s also really precious, like a sunshine, and there’s never a dull moment whenever I am around him. I hope he’s fine with me bugging him for most of his life, though.” She snickered. All in all, Ryu was someone Joohyun would forever be fond with.

[ — ☯ ] DESPITE THE UNEXPECTED REACTION he had managed to draw with his words, Ryu’s own gaze doesn’t waver as he holds her stare for a couple of seconds before breaking out into laughter, thoroughly amused. “Do you see me being intimidated as yet? No? Then you probably never will.” A light snort escapes his lips along with his dry reply before rubbing the back of his neck in a lazy manner. “Alright, alright. I will buy you an entire store of that cereal bar...” His words trail off as he winces at the tug on his ear and raises a hand to swat hers off. “Alright, mother. You can stop reprimanding me now. Just don’t try spanking me or anything, trust me it’d be your palm that would hurt.”

[ — ☯ ] ITS ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHEN Ryu had little to no motivation to move from the comforts of his home, let alone exist in general. Hence when the older had actually decided to pay a surprise visit, he was met with an extremely ragged looking male who hadn’t bothered to get rid of his own bed head even at two in the afternoon. The only thing that had even roused the young heir from his slumber was his three dogs wanting to be fed, pawing and licking the male’s face until he had heeded though with a rather loud groan. Perhaps this laziness could be attributed to all the overtime worked in the previous week, the beginning of the year in itself being quite tumultuous when it came to having to secure new deals, renew old ones and engage in one too many social events. 

It had become a way of life, after all, the least expected out of the head of Korea Operations and Ryu had not disappointed his father albeit showing his dislike in having to be manipulated according to Senior Nam’s wishes. But the trend had been set, with every achievement came higher expectations and there were times when Ryu simply wanted to backtrack on his actions and rethink his life priorities, much like this afternoon. But this also meant that he paid little to no attention to taking care of himself in general, the question from the older reminding him of the same as he lay half slumped on the couch with eyes closed. 

“Very funny, hyung,” he muses lightly, cracking open one eye with much difficulty, only to give in to another yawn. “All I have is instant ramen and wine, but I suggest we order takeaway. I haven’t been grocery shopping in...the recent past.”

I promised this is not a confession or anything.” Albie convinced the silent man once more as she delivered those holiday cookies she made for him. “This is neat, with no motives at all.” She uttered once more. “I know I have that impression already, after confessing out of a bet but I am honest this time. No romantic feelings. Just pure holiday spirit. Okay.”

[ — ☯ ]  THE SUDDEN APPEARANCE OF A PRESENT had initially taken Ryu aback and he had resorted to joking about whether she was here indeed confess to him. His satire does not go humored  and while his reaction did have an inkling of truth to it, a light grin crosses his features before he reaches for the box and swiftly relieves her grip off of it. “Well, in that case... Thank you. I’m not much of a cookie guy but I cannot turn down some good ol’ holiday spirit, after all.” Flashing her a quick thumbs up in gratitude for the snack, he busies himself with unwrapping the neatly packed parcel. “I was going to offer you eggnog but didn’t know if you even like that stuff.”
