You shouldn’t chase people. You should know that you are important enough and deserve the time and attention just like everyone else. You shouldn’t run after people to prove that you matter and exist. You are worth it, more than you could ever imagine. You are a star that could sparkle on anyone’s night sky. You are everything in someone’s eyes. Remember, do not chase, let them know your worth because if you have to chase, it’s not real love. It’s not worth it.
I’m still working on the remaining two asks I have on my inbox, and I’ll finish them soon! I’ve been losing a bit of writing motivation because of ooc reasons but I’m staying strong for this account! ♥
adolescence in motion. it’s all parties were. and it’s the blur that makes haneul attend them and nothing else. it’s the ethnocentrism in their generation that makes this easy and the movement in house parties that makes it so easy. time lapse shots are often best with lots of movement and lots of lights.
so maybe he got a little lost in the movement. haneul doesn’t like the feeling. alcohol makes him float, makes him tingly like he’s not touching anything when everything touches him. it’s unnerving and he’’s glad his tolerance is shit. still, he’s here and he’s ready to tackle all that college parties have to offer. every. single. time.
if it’s sweat and spilled drinks on his skin that’s fine. if it’s rough handshakes and shoving and people pressed to him, that’s fine. house parties are everything he hates but it’s everything he endures, the curiosity in him too much to handle. the appeal is what he searches for, and he’s already counted out alcohol. already counts out the buzz. two burns down his throat, two misplaced steps and he puts his cup down, fills another with soda and continues on his way.
parties like daydreams that don’t stick when he wants them to, so he attends more. he remembers a girl smelling like cherries, or probably her lip balm. he remembers someone doing a number on his shirt and falling on the floor later. all pleasantly revolting dreams that run through his mind. never permanent.
so he attends this one, all sunny smiles under dirty lights. open shirts, open smiles and open minds. he’s ready to take it all in again, when he gets a tap on his shoulder, the quietest thing in a sea of shoves and bricks against the back.
she’s familiar, in the way that everyone is a daydream. in the way he can only remember lip balm and not lips on a face. she’s not that kind of familiar so he smiles, holding his cup up and putting his plate to the side.
“that’s me,” he says it too gleefully he knows, blows his cover of fake beer in a cup but he’s not too concerned, “you are - not the girl I kissed at the last party I’m hoping?” if tonight blurs again, house parties be damned.
It was funny. He was all she could think of for the last two weeks. What was so special about this boy that made Eunjin curious? His voice? No, she has never heard him speak. His features? Probably. They were pretty unique, especially those eyes.
The second house party she’s been at so far through the new semester. A new record for her. According to the tiny girl, most of them were repetitive and lame. Same old games, same old drinks, same old songs (minus any new releases that’ll end up becoming old); everything was the same. Heck, it’s even the same people. What was the use of going to every college party if everything’s the same?
Hopefully she wouldn’t chicken out before he spoke. He’d think she’s weird for knowing his name. Or creepy. Chills ran down her spine as she imagined it happening to her. Thoughts aside, she stood firm, moving her arm back to her side before flashing an embarrassed smile. “Oh-- no no! That wasn’t me.” So he didn’t remember that one girl. If she said yes as a joke, would he have believed her? What would have happened?
With a clear of her throat, she starts raising her voice slightly louder as the background music beamed throughout the room. “You were quite popular over at Ewha for like, a day or so. Some--” Out of nowhere, the ball used for the beer pong game flew in between them, hitting the wall. Ridiculous. People shouldn’t throw if they have bad aim.
She rolls her eyes, letting out a sigh before continuing, “As I was saying, some girls couldn’t stop talking about you, and a few other guys, after that kissing game. You were aware of what you were doing, right?” It could have gotten out of hand, she meant to say.
I’m always chasing something: love, happiness, success. I never get the chance to rest. I’m always chasing something. It’s no wonder I’m always so tired.
🌙 three times my muse almost tells you a secret, and the one time they do.
one.
“How scary would it be to have a relative behind bars?”
She nearly chokes on her bubble tea, tapioca pearls primarily responsible. Or were they? Seoah’s words distracted Eunjin from her delicious drink, setting it to the side as her fingers nervously traced the napkin given along. That’s right. She hasn’t told her about her brother. The youngest of the oldest three, funny. He was locked away for his reckless behavior, having too many drinks and driving all at the same night. Because of it, he hit an innocent bystander, killing her on impact. That secret was something she kept to herself, fearing that if she told anyone, they’d stop talking to her for having a brother who killed someone.
“O-Oh, yeah. That’s crazy, huh?”
two.
She looks through her text messages, opening Seoah’s question of them having dinner the next night. Eunjin wasn’t thinking of what their delicious food options were, she was thinking of that secret. Seoah was a good friend, would she stay and understand what the younger girl has been going through? Or will she run off, never contacting her for the rest of her life? With a gentle sigh, Eunjin presses on the power button, contemplating without giving Seoah an answer.
three.
It was all over the news. The recent hit-and-run that occurred at three in the morning. It was being compared to that incident, the one from many years ago. The one involving her brother. Painful flashbacks whipped through her mind, eventually leading her to neglect the timer ringing like crazy. The burnt smell of her ‘fresh’ cookies alarmed her, small legs hurrying over to remove the tray from the oven. Eunjin hoped that perhaps her cookies would lessen the idea of Seoah running away from her. Ah, her precious gift to Seoah was now ruined.
the secret is out.
There it was once again. The same news report from the previous day. Will they ever stop talking about it? It’s only been two days, yet to her it felt like forever. She notices her friend watching the news, eyes saddened over it. Eunjin ponders again, her small thumb nervously scratching the side of her glass of milk. Her lips were dry, words being swallowed back down her throat.
“I… have a secret. You’ll still be my friend if I told you, right?”
It was hard. How do people confess their biggest secret? How’s it possible to do so without smelling fear? Eunjin doesn’t remember Seoah’s answer. It was most likely a yes; she was a caring friend after all. Minutes of silence passed by, only the low voice of the meteorologist in the background (about time they changed news segment). The girl lets out a sigh, hoping it would give her a bit of confidence. It didn’t, but it was time to let the secret go.
“I have a brother who’s in prison.”
👽 three times my muse thought about hugging yours, and the one time they did.
one.
They’ve known each other for years. They’ve known each other longer than her dog’s age. During those years, have they ever hugged? Once, at least? Eunjin shook her head as she answered her own question. Silly. The plushie of two bears hugging each other was adorable, it’d even make a perfect gift for her trustful friend.
“Mister, how much is this?”
two.
She told Seoah her biggest secret, the secret she hasn’t told anyone besides family- who have also suffered as much as Eunjin. The urge of wanting to give her a huge bear hug for staying by her side was real, but would it be weird to her? No, she was too sweet of a friend to think that way. A small smile spread across Eunjin’s features as she swung the gift bag in her hand.
three.
Has Seoah ever told anything personal to Eunjin? She couldn’t recall. It’s been only a few days since they’ve reencountered each other after not talking for months. But would Eunjin forget something so important? She gently hits her head against the wall, pouting to herself as she looked at the gift bag next to her feet. What kind of friend was she?
the first hug.
Eunjin stretched her arm out, grinning brightly as she held Seoah’s gift bag. She hoped it wasn’t too much, and she also hoped her friend would end up liking it.
And it seemed like she did. Who wouldn’t like a freakishly cute plushie of bears giving each other a warm hug? The younger girl shyly scratches the side of her head, cheeks turning slightly red before clasping her hands together. It was easy for her to get shy; a habit. No matter what happened, her cheeks never failed to turn red.
“Can I hug you?”
Before she knew it, Eunjin was already few feet away from Seoah, arms extended out before wrapping her arms around her friend. The hug was indeed warm, like the bears hugging. It felt nice. Nice to know there was a friend who’s willing to stay with you, no matter what.
