“What gave it away?” Eve chuckled, “The miserable expression or the lack of date?” Natalia, from French; ah yes. Eve was an underclassman, therefore she hadn’t had many social interactions with many people her senior. “Drastic? I don’t know about drastic, as soon as my presence has been noted I’m peeling.” She hadn’t planned on staying very long in the first place, eager to be in the comfort of her own bed. Eve noticed the girls punch, no doubting it was tainted, she wondered how soon until everyone was sloshed, thankfully Eve had her share before that.
“Are you here for extra credit as well or did you bring an actual date?” She peered over Natalia’s shoulder; no man seemed to be waiting for her. Eve’s gazed wandered, taking note of nearly every fellow classmate’s attendance, seemingly on dates with each other.

“Definitely the miserable expression.” Natalia smiled knowingly, “Dates come and go as they please, so I honestly would have assumed that yours was out on a bathroom break or out for a smoke.” Natalia shrugs. Her mind always likes to fill in the blanks with assumptions and stories, a dangerous trait, she's aware. Yet it’s something she simply does instinctually. The scenarios ever changing as more facts and details become known to her. So the stories her mind were making up about her own date’s disappearance was...alarming. She pushed those thoughts aside.
“Really? You’re not tempted into a dancing to a favorite song or swaying to a slow song with a really good looking guy?” Natalia was baffled. Sure, school dances were what you make of them but Natalia was really good at making them fun and worth the effort of going to them. It was so weird to her that so many classmates just didn’t feel the same excitement or joy towards them.
At Eve’s question about a date Natalia looked around the room again, trying to see if Eros’s tall and lanky frame was visible. Her earlier smile dimmed, as expected he was nowhere in sight. Natalia takes another sip of her spiked punch before returning her attention to her classmate. “I came with someone, yes.” Natalia sighs, a slight sadness settling into the pit of her stomach. She tries to push those feelings away however, reminding herself that this wasn’t a big deal. In his defense they are just friends. It’s not like he was her boyfriend and therefore required to be at her sides at all times, but Natalia definitely wanted to dance with him more than the one time. Later, we can dance together again later, he wouldn’t leave without at least giving me that. Natalia thought to herself as she downed the rest of her punch. Her thoughts were then interrupted by a familiar hum and clap chord that hit the speakers as a new song started playing and Natalia squealed with pure excitement. “Oh I love this song!” as Little Bitty Pretty One reached the chorus Natalia extended her hand in an open invitation to Eve. “Let’s go dance! Come on, this song is way too great to sit it out!” Not sure if that would be enough of an incentive Natalia quickly thought up another reason for her classmate to get up. “Also, maybe instead of staying in one place in the hopes of being seen for the extra credit, it would be more productive to be up and about and searching for the guy who promised up extra credit for being here?” While Natalia waited for her classmate’s response, she danced in place, the upbeat song too irresistible to stay still.
