to say camila wasn’t feeling well was an understatement. ever since she got suspended from the nycb, the woman barely had left her apartment. mostly because she didn’t want others to see how vulnerable she actually could get. she was taught to always appear perfect, to always smile, to always be at her best — and she was anything but that at the moment.
with nothing but a snort at first, she tried to ignore the knocking on her door. people had been reaching out to her, wondering, but camila barely answered. and if she did, it was mostly the three words ‘i am fine’. but the second she recognized the voice behind the knocking, it was like a shot of adrenaline and happiness ran through her entire body. within seconds, the ballerina was standing, looking like a complete mess as she had lost track of time how long she had been sitting on the couch, watching pride & prejudice for probably the fifth time in a row.
and the second she opened the door, camila knew she had recognized the voice correctly. she always would. ❝ nat. ❞ it was barely a whisper, but just saying her name held so much emotion. it was as if her sister was sent in the perfect moment, as if she had felt that camila needed her. needed her family.
the second her arms wrapped her little sister, or well, rather, taller sister, there was no point in hiding how she felt. no point in hiding that she had been an absolute train wreck. camila sobbed silently, though surprisingly it was more happy tears than anything else, before she leaned a little back, her hazel, slightly wet eyes admiring every feature of her sister. her perfect little sister. ❝ i can’t believe it… ❞, she mumbled, and for the first time in days, a soft smile spread across her face. ❝ why didn’t you tell me ? oh my god. why didn’t ANYONE tell me ? and how did mom and dad react ? ❞
There was a bright smile on Natalia’s features, far too excited to be around her older sister once more. “Well, that’s the whole point of a surprise, now isn’t it?” She snarked teasingly, poking at the older woman’s side with a wry, amused smirk tugging at her lips in turn. “I wanted to surprise you, plus...if I didn’t get it I didn’t want you to get your hopes up for nothing. Though, knowing me, I’d make it happen regardless. I’m stubborn like that,” she hummed far too happily, thumb brushing at Cami’s cheek at the wetness that dripped down her cheeks. “Mom and Dad were...you know. You know how they are. Dad didn’t want to let me go at first. Something about how he wanted me to take over. I thought I wanted that too, but I don’t know. I don’t know if I want that anymore. I wanted to be closer to you. I wanted to make a name for myself outside of it all.”
Letting out a long breath, Natalia’s hands rested on Camila’s shoulders as she looked the woman over. “Obviously something happened. Are you going to let me in to tell me about it?” She asked almost carefully, eyeing the woman as if she may break at a moment’s notice. She knew how strong Cami was, it was one of the many reasons she looked up to the woman so much. She also knew how bad it must have been if she was this down. It worried Natalia to no end. “Is it Lukas? I’ll end him with one deadly glare. You say the word.” She said firmly. “Let me make tea. You have tea, right? I’ll make us tea and you can tell me everything.”
