Natalie Dupont, signing off
Please like this for a plot-related starter
I’m going to DEFINITELY do the first five, but I may end up doing more! Natalie makes an appearance at both parties (starting with the ministry-run party since she’s an employee, then catering to pureblood duties at the Selwyn party later that evening!). Feel free to specify which party you’d like to have a run in with everyone’s favorite Puff ball of Death! (Which, incidentally, is also going to be my new heavy metal band)
“Oi! You! Fenwick!” Natalie ran after the wizard, holding up a gold coin. “You dropped this. Now, I know some of us can afford to wave around our money, but honestly, you should keep better track of your galleons!”
@xbenjyfenwick
❝What? Oh not again❞ Benjy said throwing his hands up in the air. How could it be possible that he kept ripping holes in his pockets. The last time he had lead a flock of angry pigeons into the apartment building because he had been trailing cookie crumbs. The neighbors had not been happy.
The smile on his face grew once recognition settled in. ❝Whoa! Dupont we all know the real money is at International Magical Cooperation❞ Benjy teased her bumping her shoulder lightly, ❝but you know this time coffee is on me. Come on…❞ he said holding out his hand, ❝and it’s not gonna be whatever it is they call coffee at the cafeteria here. We are getting the good stuff.❞
Natalie laughed, handing the coin to the wizard in front of her. “I think you need to find yourself a better seamstress, mate.” She grinned, curtsying at his recognition. “Of course, while other departments file paperwork we actually spend our days sipping the finest Champagne and eating the most expensive truffles we can find.” She put on a proper air, her face serious but her eyes sparkling with mischief and laughter. She took his hand, a grateful and exasperated look on her face.
“Yes please. I haven’t been off grounds for a break since last month sometime. I would kill for a real cup of coffee.” Her smile fell, and she waved her hand in the air. “Metaphorically, of course. Merlin, I’ve really got to watch what I say, war and all..” She smiled grimly as she shook her head. “Sorry. I’m a mess lately.”
Hospital Handouts // Alice & Natalie
It had become her solace, her comfort, in reconciling her actions of the war. To satiate the guilt that gnawed at her stomach in the quiet moments, she had been going to the hospital to volunteer, offer help to those who had been injured. She only went once every two weeks or so, but it was helping the lump in her throat hurt less and less.
She had brought some flowers for some of the rooms, and was bringing a potted plant into the last room on the hall. It was a dog rose, her personal favorite, but when she entered the room her face fell slightly. There, sitting up in the bed, was Alice Prewett.
Natalie wasn’t close with Alice. She knew her through Marcus, and Frank, but she was pretty sure, being a Prewett, Alice was firmly entrenched on the opposite side of the war. Her heart beat a little faster as she cleared her throat.
“Alice, Hi!” Natalie smiled, walking gently into the room. “It’s good to see you... I mean not under the circumstances but you know what I mean.” She shook her head, smiling. She set the plant down on the table near her bed. “I didn’t realize you were in here. Are you... doing alright?”

❛ you have no control : who lives, who dies, who tells your story. ❜
The silver mask felt heavy on Natalie’s face as she stared up at Alice Prewett. Natalie clutched her side as she pushed lightly through the pain. She could feel the blood seeping through her cloak, thankful the black material would mask the extent of her injury. The sound of curses hitting rubble ricocheted around them, but for the moment it was just Natalie and Alice.
Alice sneered in disgust at the girl as she struggled to stand, the pounding of blood in her head mimicking the dull pain in her side. The pain seemed to come in waves, causing her vision to blur and focus all at once. Prewett turned to face another death eater, one Natalie was unsure of the identity and panic seized her. She couldn’t let Alice hurt anyone else, not one of her number, her friends. She yelled over the battle, trying to draw her attention.
“You might win this battle, but you won’t win the war. We are numerous, determined. We’ll fight you until there isn’t any blood left in our veins and then keep fighting.” She raised her had for emphasis, dark red liquid flowing down her hand. She had to keep her talking, had to keep her focus. She was glad the mask hid the panic on her face. “You cannot silence us. Our story will be told through the generations!” She cringed. Spending as much time around the other death eaters, the mocking words came much easier than she felt they should.
“You’re a fool.” She moved closer, her voice ringing out stronger than Natalie’s own. “You have no control: who lives, who dies, who tells your story. The war isn’t over until there is no one left to fight, and you’re working to create a world built on fighting. So long as your kind remain, so will we. Generations working to build a better future.” With that a spell came flooding out of Prewett’s wand, hitting Natalie square on her chest and sending her flying backward.
The next thing she knew she was at home, her side bandaged and Plumpy carrying a fresh tray of food. After assuring the worried creature she was fine, she was left in solitude, Alice’s words ringing in her mind.
“ my lips really want to meet yours. ”
Natalie looked up from the drink she was pouring for herself, the celebration at Hufflepuff’s victory over Ravenclaw in quidditch having stretched into the dark hours of early morning. She laughed, a little too loudly in her intoxication as she turned to face the young wizard.
“Look, Longbottom. I may be drunk but I’m not that drunk.” Lowered inhibitions fogged her mind, and she grabbed him by the haphazard collar of his shirt, pulling him closer. Steamy breath mingled, and the smell of too much liquor on both of them caused the moment to stretch far longer than it should have. She bit her lower lip, eyes looking his face up and down before releasing his shirt and taking a step back. “You’re going to need to try harder than that, Frank, if you want to snog me tonight.” She turned away from him quickly, becoming lost in the sea of gold and black.
“ i remember our first kiss. ”
“Ugh. Merlin, that was one time McKinnon. It was my first time trying scotch and I went overboard, and I thought we agreed that make-out was never to be mentioned again.”

dork-cresswell:
“cocky?” he asked, with exaggerated offense, hand on his heart as he leaned back slightly. “me? why i’d never–” like slipping on an old coat, this light banter between them, and dirk’s grin widened involuntarily, indescribable joy swelling in his chest. “i’m the most humble, modest being you’d ever met, i’ll have you know.”
“hey, don’t worry about it.” he shrugged, like this was nothing at all – it wasn’t nothing, but he knew how easy it was to get swept up in things. he, himself, has been swamped in his studies and his work, too busy to reconnect with old friendships or maintain new ones – but with the opportunity presented to him now, he would hardly let it slip past his fingers again. “i haven’t been keeping in touch myself, y’know.” he shrugged again, a sly grin pulling at his lips, thumbs hooked onto his pockets and feet scuffing the floor. “i’ve been busy. with important work. because i’m a very important person, y’know.”
he let out a laugh. “oh, come on! he was dreamy, you had have noticed that, can you really blame me?” despite his words, dirk had never regarded amos with this kind of interest before, but he was not blind to the hordes of students who did. talking about amos like this – like he was a distant figure from long ago, like he was just a memory that they’ve long gone past, was peculiarly soothing, in it’s own way. he is gone, and they are past that, and there are only good memories to associate with amos, now, and he quite liked to keep it this way.
“i’m the most romantic individual around, nat, of course i work at the lover’s tea shop now!” he shrugged again. “i charmed the madam.” he said, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. “anyway, enough about me – how’ve you been? were do you work now? are you in touch with anyone from school? any – “ he stopped himself, before he went on to ask about her eating habits and if she was sleeping well or anything embarrassing like that, and looped his arm through hers, leading her towards the nearest table by their side. “my goodness. we have a lot to catch up on, lets get going.”
A soft, tinkling giggle escaped the lips of the girl, and she felt all of her muscles relax, falling into the banter and jokes. She had no idea how much she missed having him around, being able to laugh and talk with him. It was a far cry from the tense atmosphere most of her conversations had been as of late. She shook her head, rolling her eyes as he exaggerated his movements.
“You’re right. How could I forget the way you so meekly proclaimed your own virtues to the entire great hall. Or how you so kindly and modestly shoved your way past me toward Amos the first time we met. Yes, you could never be full of it, could you?” Natalie swat him on the shoulder playfully. “There you go again, talking about your importance in such a self-sacrificing way. The world would be so much darker without you in it, Dirkus.”
Involuntarily, the blush crept up her cheeks once more. “Dirk, I’m pretty sure everyone in school could see that I noticed how dreamy Amos was. Including Amos.” There was a sharp pain in her chest, that gnawing guilt once more, flashes of the nightmare realm in her mind’s eye causing prickling tears at the edges of her vision. Clearing her throat, she turned her attention back to Dirk.
“Of course. I don’t know why I’m surprised. You would be at the center of any romantic tea shop, wouldn’t you. Always loved the ooey-gooey sort of couple scene, didn’t you?” She shook her head, remember many a common-room diatribe on the frustrations of public displays of affection. She feigned annoyance but allowed herself to be pulled into a chair, plopping her things on the table as she sighed.
“Well, I’m a lower-level employee at the Ministry, in the Department of Magical Cooperation. Mostly I just translate letters right now, I primarily work with the French and German Ministries, but I’m trying to teach myself Spanish. One of the higher level employees mentioned the other day I might be a good go-between with the French Ministry, since I have such strong ties there, with my Granmama and parents being there and everything.” She sighed, hands toying with the strap of her bag. “It sounds a lot more glamorous than it is, I’m afraid. Mostly paperwork and looking up obscure words in a dictionary.”
“ kissing burns calories you know. ” - Hestia
“Wha-” Natalie turned her head toward the girl who had approached, a blush creeping up her cheeks as her eyes flew to the floor. She had been caught staring at the couple across the bar, eyes jealous as she took in the sight. It had been ages since she’d been on a date, and seeing the way hair entangled with calloused hands... The way their lips seemed desperate for each other...
“No... I mean, I didn’t know that, but it’s not like I...” Natalie gestured with her hands, a bit too wildly. She began regretting that last drink, one too many, that seemed to make her words fall faster than she could process them. “I wasn’t getting of to it, or anything. I’m not a voyeur or anything I just...” She blushed, grabbing a few sickles out of her pocket and slamming them down on the table.
“I’ll just get home now... have a good night. I hope you... erm... burn some calories?” Shaking her head and mentally cursing, she fled from the bar.

“Oi! You! Fenwick!” Natalie ran after the wizard, holding up a gold coin. “You dropped this. Now, I know some of us can afford to wave around our money, but honestly, you should keep better track of your galleons!”

he’d asked the madam not to come in today. a charming grin, a hand resting over her shoulder, an almost genuine way in which he spoke – she could hardly say no. she needed a break, he knew that, and so did she, and so with little protest she handed him the keys the night before, made him promise to take care of the shop in her absence, and left. he watched her go with the familiar weight of worry pressing down on him, but resolved to hope for the best.
the sign at the front of the shop said ‘closed’. shifting in the presence of the man beside him, his eyes fixed on the cups in hand as he washed them, dirk almost regretted telling the madam to leave – he hadn’t anticipated such stiffness to hang between them, such uncertainty. he’d hoped that would wear off after their first meeting, had guiltily hoped not to encounter him this soon either. he cleared his throat, rinsing the cup in hand with a touch more attention than necessary, and thought of something to say – something lighthearted, maybe, to ease the tension in the air. “you didn’t have to come, y’know.” or not. “i mean – it’s a lot of work. i thought you’d be more busy.”
gloom seemed to seep from the tea shop’s walls – coating their spirits with an awkwardness that had lingered. even cedric in the corner, little fingers dipped in pink paint and leaving marks all over the furniture covers wasn’t enough to lighten the mood. although thankfully the boy seemed oblivious to the way words had become a stumbling block that neither of them seemed capable of hurdling over. a rarity – especially for creatures as social as the two of them. but this was different, a tear between brothers, not simply friends.
it’d been foolish to expect forgiveness straight off. and perhaps he could have explained better. but amos couldn’t quite bring to words the events that had transpired on new year’s enough for him to make dirk understand the reasons he’d needed to leave. and how much it pained him still – the image of his friends, of his son, doomed because of his own incapabilities one that haunted even his reality. “i promised, didn’t i?” he cringed slightly as his gaze fell back to the paintbrush in his hands. there’d once been a time when his promises had lain unbroken. but that wasn’t the case any longer. still, it didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try. “c’mon – the shop is in desperate need of a face-lift. of course i’m helping.” ( @nataliedupont )
Natalie had gotten back yesterday, a week-long trip to the French ministry to smooth over some misunderstanding or disagreement between the new Minister of Magic and the French Minister. She had left suddenly, managing to scribble a short message to Dirk that she would be back soon. It was with an overwhelming guilt that she stood outside Madam Puddifoot’s, a glum look on her face when she saw the “closed” sign. She had just reconnected with Dirk, and there she was ditching him again, this time to go across the globe.
She was just about to turn around when she spied a mop of dark hair hunched over the sink in the back. Grinning, she flicked her wand to quickly unlock the door, bounding into the shop.
“Well, Dirkus McCresswell I thought the tea shop was always open for busin-” She stopped, mid sentence, now fully in the shop to see Amos Diggory, the soft giggle of a child in the corner. Natalie froze for a few seconds. Apart from the awkward interaction at the ministry, she had tried her best to avoid seeing Amos. He needed his space, and she knew she was the reason for it. If she felt guilty talking to Dirk, she felt utterly depraved talking to Amos.
The sound of tottering footsteps broke the silence as Cedric let out an excited squeal. Another person for him to play with, another friend to be made. Cedric was every bit his father’s son, and it broke Natalie’s heart to think of that moment she had crafted in the dream, a projection of Amos’s worst nightmare...
A surge of emotion filled her and she bent down to scoop up the little child, lifting him high into the air and spinning once with him before setting him on her hip, one arm securely wrapped around him. “Hey there Ced! If I’d have known you were going to be here I would have shown up much sooner!” She cast a glance at Amos, another at Dirk, praying that she wouldn’t be cast out of the shop immediately.
“Sorry to... erm... drop in out of nowhere. I just got back yesterday and I know I ditched you earlier, Dirk, so...” She smiled and shook her head as pink fingers dragged across her face, paint smearing on her cheeks. “If I’m interrupting, though, I can leave?” Her gaze shifted back to Amos, watching him carefully, a touch of sadness pulling the corners of her eyes towards the ground. She chuckled, a bit darker than she intended. “It would be just like me, interrupting your fun. It’s like we’re back in Hogwarts all over again, isn’t it?”

Advanced Study// Lily & Natalie
Things got increasingly tricky when you were a death eater who didn’t particularly care about blood status. Of course, due to the history of magic in their blood, Natalie supposed purebloods tended to be more powerful, but it wasn’t always the case. There were wonderful muggle-borns like Dirk Creswell, who Natalie was happy to be reconnecting with, and Lily Evans.
Lily and Natalie had forged a friendship back in Hogwarts when the ginger had been kind enough to tutor Natalie in potions. It was the only subject she was in danger of getting a low mark on in fifth year, so Professor Slughorn had connected Natalie with Lily. While things had started out as a business relationship, it quickly turned into a weekly study session where more talking and laughing happened than studying.
Nowadays, it has become a bit of a trouble finding time to talk with Lily. They both had jobs, responsibilities... at least Lily used to before all that... all that suffering that Natalie had a part in, however indirect... And while Natalie was a Death Eater, she found it increasingly difficult to maintain her smile when she knew her actions while masked directly disagreed with their very existence. When she saw the girl, however, just outside of Fortescues, she decided to take the opportunity to take a seat beside her, flopping her bag on the table.
“What are we doing today, Miss Evans?” Natalie grinned, her eyes sparkling. “Studying the success of the flavors of the ice cream? Or perhaps their creaminess?”

An Unexpected Guest | Natalie & Raj
@nataliedupont
It was rare that Raj ventured outside his usual beaten paths: St. Mungo’s, his flat, his parents’ home on occasion, and a few of the shops in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade. He liked his routine, and the peace and quiet that came with keeping to himself. However, he’d gone out of his way several times in the last few weeks - with the missing Death Eaters, the rest of them had been far busier than usual, Raj included. He’d done more errands for the Dark Lord than he preferred but he knew better than to voice that opinion. There were several Death Eaters who needed healing as well, so Raj’s abilities had been put to good use.
But he finally had a bit of time to himself: no errands for the Dark Lord or emergency calls from St. Mungo’s. And in fact, he somehow had avoided any obligations with his parents as well. One could expect that with this free time, he would immediately return to his flat and enjoy the solitude without any compunctions. But that was not where he found himself. First, he stopped by the sweet shop in Hogsmeade, then the florist in Diagon Alley, and then he found himself at Natalie Dupont’s door - uninvited, unexpected. Simply there, with the flowers and chocolates in hand. There was a part of Raj that felt utterly foolish; he didn’t do things like this. Rajesh Patil was a man of the mind, not one who followed the whims of his fancy every which way. And yet -
Well, Natalie was intriguing, and interesting, and very pretty. His emotions had been stirred up far more than he would have guessed from their first meeting. In fact, though he had hardly let this thought coalesce even privately, he was beginning to think about something more long-term with the witch. He hadn’t done that with any of his other relationships. Part of him wanted to resist on the principle of not falling for someone his mother had set him up with, but he knew how foolish that would be. In any event, he found himself rapping at the door quickly, the flowers and chocolates held prominently for when Natalie opened the door.
It had been a few weeks since Natalie had sat nervously awaiting Raj’s appearance at the restaurant. The evening had turned out well enough, and Natalie had enjoyed herself. There was a charm about his smile, but he hadn’t seemed much more interested in her than was appropriate for a pureblood blind date. For a few days afterward she woke, the memory of his eyes when he laughed a soft glow in her dreams... still, she resolved not to get hung up, yet again
The next few days had brought about a flurry of activity, perfect for keeping her mind off the soft black curls in low light. Between Death Eater meetings, assignments at work, and a rather unplanned trip to smooth over some disagreement with the French ministry, Natalie felt like life was running at 100 miles an hour, and she was barely keeping up.
That was why she found herself, the first night without anyone there, baking cookies in the kitchen with Plumpy. When she heard the wards around her home ding, she couldn’t suppress the audible groan. Plumpy’s hand went up to her mouth, badly hiding the giggle at her master’s exasperated expression. “Miss isn’t expecting company?”
“No, I’m not. Can you shoo them away or something?” Plumpy smiled softly, nodding as she hopped down off the stepstool and tottered over towards the door. Natalie thought that was the end of it, but the house elf came back, eyes wide with barely contained glee. “What is it, Plumpy?”
“Plumpy took a peek through the window, but Plumpy thinks Miss would like to answer the door herself.” Curiosity piqued, Natalie rubbed the flour on her robe and headed to the door. Sunlight streamed in the entryway as Plumpy squealed with approval, clapping her hands. There he was, Rajesh Patil, chocolates and flowers in hand, standing on her doorstep.
“Oh, erm... hello? I wasn’t, erm, expecting you.” Suddenly self-concious, a flour-covered hand rose to smooth down her hair. “Or anyone, at all... but Plumpy keeps the place pretty clean... do you want to come in?” Natalie stood back, still a bit dumbstruck as she gestured for Raj to enter.
