Hi babe. So I've got my hands on a Pentax K1000. I'm just trying to teach myself how to use it and so on. I've just popped my first roll of film into it. I'm just nervous how my photos will turn out because I can't tell if I'm using it properly or not. What would be the main steps for taking such good photos like yours. Because at the moment I'm just making sure the light metre is always in the centre and I'm always in focus. What would be your recommendations on how to use this amazing camera?

Honestly - trial and error, and more trial and error! I knew nothing about the camera when I first picked it up, it was only by chance that my first 2 rolls turned out nice and it inspired me to keep going. Over time, you’ll pick up new tricks or learn things from others, you’ll try experimenting with it, pushing the camera to it’s limitations and next thing you know, you’ll be wanting something new to play with! I however, have always and will always love my Pentax. I won’t be getting over this baby any time soon :-)

Hey dude, how do you organise your photos digitally? (in terms of location, date, etc)

I am actually quite horrible with my organisation, tbh! I’ve been meaning to get on top of it for some time now. When I wasn’t so lazy, I’d have folders for each year and month, and each roll of film would have a number and be dated from when I’d had it developed. If it was for a job I would also include the job name, or if it were from a specific location I would include that too.

How do you have your coffee?

No edits, just raw! The film I usually stick to is Kodak Portra 160/400 and Fuji Superia X-Tra 400 if that helps.

Thank you so much! I rotate between three, Olympus Mju ii, Pentax K1000 and Contax T2. At the moment the T2 is my favourite to use. I recommend the Pentax if you’re just starting out, it’s a really great camera :-)

I'm really wanting to get into photography more and I'm going overseas in a couple of months, what camera/lenses would you recommend especially for taking landscape/moving photos? :)

Get a camera that you feel comfortable with using. It doesn’t have to be to high -end as that will be very technical and that might be overwhelming for you. You don’t have a preference in different types of cameras yet so whatever you start off with is what you’ll learn from. Landscape photos use a fixed lens that is wider so it helps you have more options with your composition like a 24mm or 35mm lens. Taking photos of motion is more about your settings rather then what lens you are using but it does help to have a wider lens that brings in more light to be able to up your shutter speed/aperture to get a crisper cleaner image of something moving. Hope this helps! x
