i receive dozens of these asks every day. i do not have the time nor skills to verify which of you are scammers and which of you are genuine people in need. additionally, if i were to post every request i got, it would all just become noise since there are so many of them and no way to decide which specific ones we should donate to. neither i nor any of my followers (to my knowledge) have the money to donate to every request we come across, when there are so many requests shown to us every day.

instead, i advise you to reach out to organizations like operation olive branch who DO have the resources to vet and promote campaigns. and to my followers, if you have the money and ability, i encourage you to look into donating to vetted campaigns from organizations like operation olive branch, or listed on blogs like 90-ghost (of course using your own best judgement to make sure no scams have slipped through the cracks there), or to organizations like esims for gaza.

New crochet pattern : Marie Curie

Here is the next pattern in my series of iconic left-handers: Marie Curie, the first woman who won a Nobel Prize and the only person to win it in both physics and chemistry.

She is an incredible role model for young girls, so, I just had to include her ihn my series of iconic left-handers.

As always, the pattern comes in English and German, almost 40 pages with many photos and a printererfriendly version with less than 20 pages and no photos.

When using the recommended yarn and hook size, Marie is about 17 cm / 7" tall.

For Marie's dress I used patterns from an old crafts book from the 1930s.

The URSA Awards 2024

Once again, I entered the URSA Awards competition and I would be extremely happy if you could support me with your vote.

My entries are: Neo (10cm/ 4") in category 1.

Neo was inspired by the famous quote "I know Kung-Fu". At first, I thought of a great panda. When they were talking about cat videos in the post credits of Matrix 4, I started asking myself if a cat wouldn't be the better choice for Neo?

Last year, the red pandas in our zoo had babies and I spend a lot of time at their enclosure. One day, there was a group of primary school kids, there, too. First, the teacher shouted: "Neo, come here", when Neo had finally arrived, she explained to the kids that red pandas are also called "Katzenbär" in German, verbally translated "cat bear".

And there was the solution for my creative problem: The red panda, also known as Katzenbär/ cat bear is the perfect animal representing Neo and i thought this would be perfect to celebrate both the anniversary of the first Matrix film and the 60th birthday of Keanu Reeves.

My second entry is Evi Meerkat (17 cm/ 6.8") in category 5.

Evi is entirely crocheted and the pattern (for left- handers) is available in all my stores.

Entry number three is Lokesh (8 cm/ 3.2") in category 12.

Lokesh is one of the two baby pandas who were born in the Zoo Karlsruhe last year.

When I heard the news I knew immediately that I had to make a baby red panda. Both Lokesh and Lalima are just adorable, but Lalime has more white in her face and so I decided to do Lokesh.

I decided to do a version with some grey hair from “And Just Like That”, for a very personal reason: My hair started turning grey in my early to mid-twenties and only about three years ago I had the courage to ditch the dye and embrace my (meanwhile) white hair. Since that, I’ve been getting more compliments for my hair than ever before, save a lot of money, have far less stress but much more freedom. Had I known that in my twenties, I would have never started dying my hair and used the money for travelling the world. So, I celebrate all women, famous or not, who embrace their grey hair because these are the role models I would have loved to have in my twenties

My temperutare blanket after 6 weeks.

Once again, I turned all those yarn scraps into a "painting", using a combimation of Tunisian crochet and Swing knitting. This time, I did a spiral.

And yes, I also used gold cords and nets from chocolates.

For the crocheting melody I used the phone method, this time, I typed in one of my biggest wishes for 2024 and repeated it countless times in the spiral, just like a mantra.

And now I've got the perfect motivation hanging on my wall.

Einmal mehr habe ich meine ganzen Garnreste zu einem Häkelbild verarbeitet und dabei wieder tunesische Häkelei und Swingstricken verarbeitet. Dieses Mal habe ich eine Spirale gehäkelt.

Und ja, ich habe auch die Goldschnüre von den Schokokugeln verarbeitet, ebenso in Streifen geschnittene Schokonetze und natürlich auch das Geschenkband von den Weihnachtspäckchen.

Für die Häkelmelodie habe ich mit der Handymethode gearbeitet und einfach meinen größten Wunsch für 2024 eingetippt und dann unzählige Male gehäkelt, wie ein Mantra.

Und jetzt habe ich das perfekte Motivationsbild an der Wand hängen.
