“Is that a compliment, Grant?” Nate questioned, grinning back at the other man. “Something tells me that you’ve tried tennis and it ended in a broken racquet”, he laughed. “Thanks”, he said, walking over to pick up his returned ball so that he could take his second shot. “Oh, I think those people over there know you. They’re waving and it looks like they want to come over here”, Nate told Grant, discretely pointing out the people that he was referencing.

I should have realised that you weren’t ready to date a guy, I think I just got a bit carried away by the fact that I really liked you and wanted to see if this could go anywhere”, he explained. “I, uh... I can’t promise that it’s going to happen overnight because honestly, I am still a little hurt but we can definitely try to go back to being friends”.

He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t trying to impress Nate. “Tennis. I just don’t get it.” he admitted, walking back to get his ball and bowling a second time to get a spare.

“Clearly your taste in men is terrible then”, Nate lightly teased when Grant said that he did, in fact, look cute with a blush. “I’ve never played tennis before so don’t worry, I won’t be dragging you out to the court anytime soon”, he assured him. He congratulated Grant for getting the spare before selecting his own ball and taking his first bowl, managing to knock down half of the pins.

She’s always working on awesome robotics projects, she’s insanely smart”, he told Jackson. “Oh, uh... I don’t know”, he nervously answered, his cheeks slightly flushed. He didn’t really know what was going on with Inez. “That’s so nice, thank you”.

I’ve got just about zero rebellious spirit in me.”

“If I lived further away, I wouldn’t be getting cake at all”, Nate easily agreed. “I’ll have to return the favour sometime soon, it’s only fair”. He would definitely make her some of his caramel slice in the near future. “I think I’d rather overthink than underthink. I feel like underthinking means you could easily end up hurting other people”, he said after contemplating her question for a few moments.  “Yeah, you’ve got me. There’s not a rebellious bone in my body”, he chuckled, accepting that assessment as it was much easier than having to talk about the reality of his teenage years.
