⌠ herman tommeraas, 23, cismale, he/him ⌡ welcome back to gallagher academy, NATHAN MERCER! according to their records, they’re a FIRST year, specializing in ADVANCED ENCRYPTION + RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT; and they DID NOT go to a spy prep high school. when i see them walking around in the halls, i usually see a flash of (constant toying with a fidget cube, a piece of gum in his mouth, one side of his shirt untucked). when it’s the (aquarius)’s birthday on 2/10/97, they always request their GARBAGE PLATE from the school’s chefs. looks like they’re well on their way to graduation. ⌿bunny, 27, she/her, est ⍀

“ fallon’s gonna see what she can do, ” he repeats with a slow nod. no idea what that means but it’s not important. “ didn’t fancy includin’ ai in your little deal? ”

“it’s not a deal yet,” nate says with an unimpressed look. “it’s not anything yet. if it becomes anything, ai can do whatever she wants because i’ll make sure she’s included. might even just give her my deal and stay myself.”

      𝚒𝚝  𝚖𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝  𝚓𝚞𝚜𝚝  be  the  insecurities  from  past  relationships  slipping  through  .  she  often  forgets  how  different  they  can  be  .  fallon’s  always  had  a  sense  of  direction  .  even  when  she  took  a  break  from  the  spy  world  ,  she  immediately  knew  what  she  was  going  to  do  .  she  listens  intently  and  sits  up  straighter  .  “  i  just  don’t  want  to  push  you  into  something  you  might  not  want  to  do  ,  ”  she  admits  .  “  especially  with  summer  coming  up  and  our  plans  aren’t  necessarily  set  in  stone  .  ”

“there’s not much i’m sure about wanting to do beyond being with you.” it’s basically the only thing nate is sure about, actually. and it’s not like this field would have been his first choice, but he’d gotten good with computers out of necessity, not because of any actual passion. he thinks it’s probably okay that he doesn’t have any sort of real passion in life, thinks it’s okay if his motivation is the people in his life instead. “yeah, that’s because i’m just waiting for you to tell me what our plans are, obviously.”

      “  𝚒  𝚠𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍𝚗’𝚝  𝚗𝚎𝚌𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚕𝚢  say  it’s  my  fault  …  ”  she  trails  off  with  a  coy  smile  .  it’s  still  on  nate  that  he  fell  in  love  with  her  .  she  stands  by  her  statement  that  she  didn’t  do  anything  !  “  i  don’t  know  actually  ,  ”  she  hums  .  “  maybe  angelina  jolie  in  mr.  &  mrs.  smith  .  ”  she  was  super  hot  in  that  movie  !  “  hmm  i  guess  ,  but  we’ll  never  know  ,  ”  she  shrugs  .  “  it  sounds  pretty  bias  when  you  say  it  as  my  boyfriend  .  ”

“so whose fault is it then?” because it’s certainly not nate’s. he’s definitely not the appealing one in this relationship so we definitely have to blame fallon here, unfortunately. “i’ve never seen that.” even if he had he’d probably forget everything about it outside of angelina jolie being hot, which tracks. “you don’t think you’ll ever end up a villain?” he can’t see it happening either. he kind of feels like a villain sometimes but he never really wants to hurt anyone, he just looks out for himself first always. “but does it?”

“Your parole officer better let you! I can talk to him. This is important,” she states, nodding seriously. It’s mainly to herself. Sober Nur knows this isn’t how it works. The more people she knows there, the better, she’ll need people to distract herself with. She laughs at his words, expression turning cutely mysterious, like she’s hiding a secret. “They will end up more, surely. The red wine is really good,” she says. “Juno has fantastic taste. Tell her I said so!” Though Juno probably has no idea who Nur is. Anyway. She taps her shot glass against his and downs it, making a face at the burn it leaves down her throat. “This is… disgusting.” She laughs again.

“you think that’ll work?” nate asks seriously but he can’t stop the smile that pulls at his lips. he can imagine tipsy nur trying that, is pretty sure sober nur would never, but it’s a fun concept. “yeah, because everything here is expensive as fuck, but you already know that since you’re on the ppc.” he’s not going to remember to do that at all because he’s rude. “will do.” again, he won’t. mostly because he’s going to forget. “yeah, that’s the fun of it.”

        HE SAYS IT SO RIDICULOUSLY,  she almost wants to laugh. thankfully cecilia can control herself, so the corner of her mouth only twitches for a moment.   “ you know, if i wasn’t going home to my two brothers, i’d almost miss you. ”   he certainly annoys her in ways only a brother would. then again, nate is more annoying than nico.   “ glad you know what you’re doing with your summer, ”   she rolls her eyes. men are useless.   “ i’m going back to italy, with my siblings. going to lie low for awhile. i haven’t been there in four years. ”   and it’s definitely going to be an adjustment coming back to it. 

“and if i hadn’t acquired a sister this year, i’d almost miss you.” nate feels pretty immune to cecilia’s annoying qualities considering some of the people in his life he’d take a bullet for also annoy him the most. he probably wouldn’t take a bullet for cecilia though. maybe like, warn her if a passing car was about to splash water all over her. “why do i have to have the whole thing planned? you never do anything spontaneous?” what is it with spies and their itineraries? “so you’re saying i’m not invited for a visit?”

“She really did have us all fooled” she said. “The world wrapped around her finger. Now that is power” Azi added.

“finally, someone is onboard with this theory.” nobody around here ever wants to have fun, save for like, five people. “deserved power.”

“I’m sure you can find something important to do. Or at least entertaining.” It doesn’t matter what he’s up to. She herself doesn’t have any plans though she can be afforded the luxury of simply being a stay at home daughter for the rest of her life. “Plus, it only makes you hotter, the whole criminal record thing.” As if that’s something he should be worried over. “I’ve saved as many dances as you’d like.” 

“i guess i’m just not fully convinced i have to do something important in general. if everyone does something important, doesn’t it cancel it all out?” nate doesn’t care much about contributing to society, not when society hasn’t done the best by him. “oh yeah? is that what drew you to me?” he’s grinning, amazed by his own ability to look back on their first meeting with fondness. who would have thought he’d be so good at monogamy. “perfect, then come on.”

        “ MUST YOU ALWAYS BE SO DIFFICULT ? ”   she huffs hypocritically.   “ because i’ve had roommates before, and they’ve never told me i snore. val would agree with me. will you be in london the entire time, then ? ”   she’s assuming that’s where fallon’s from, because of the accent. 

“yes,” nate says in a dumbfounded voice, like he’s amazed she thinks he’d ever be anything but a pain in her ass. it’s balanced, because she’s just as annoying. “it’s okay, i know the truth.” which is that she doesn’t snore but he’ll insist she does anyway. “no clue. apparently we’re going to turkey for a wedding. what are your grand plans now that your double agent life is up?”

“I am going to be in Turkey all summer. Unless you come with Fallon when she comes and visits me. Are you coming to my mother’s wedding with her? You should!” She is definitely not excited for the wedding. Fallon’s presence will be perfect emotional support, and Nate being there as well will make it even more bearable. “I did! Just two! I had… a glass of champagne, and red wine… and oh,” She laughs. “A cosmo, too.” She can’t recall having a fourth drink at the moment. “So that is three.” She pokes his arm. “Well you look fancy, Mr. Mercer.” She thinks for a second. “Okay. Here’s to friends and loved ones who have remained with us during our best times and our worst! Do you want to add to that?”

“as long as i’m allowed by my parole officer or whatever the fuck he’s called, i don’t see why not.” nate’s pretty sure that’s his duty as a boyfriend anyway, to be fallon’s date to things like that. and he’ll want to be there for nur, and because he loves a good wedding with the food and booze. “so i’m just gonna assume it’s been more than three if you’ve lost the ability to count.” not that he’s judging, he loves that she’s on her way to being drunk. “juno dressed me, per usual.” he’s helpless on his own. “nah, you summed it up.” he’s not sentimental enough, will just ruin it, instead just tapping his shot glass against hers before downing it.

“Absolutely.” She answers decisively though she knows that he’s already aware. “It’ll mean you can do literally anything besides be trapped in this fucking school.” Which could maybe get better with a different president but could also get way worse. Either way she worried about him. “Kind of glad you did get caught this one time.” Marifer can’t help but smile for a moment, if only briefly thinking about the night they had first met. 

“i thought as much,” nate says with a grin. “that’s true, but what i was doing before this school wasn’t all that important either.” he’s not saying this in a way that says he’d choose gallagher over freedom, but rather he’s not sure he even knows what to do with freedom in the first place. “yeah. i guess it’s not so bad.” coming here has changed his life, and marifer is part of that change. “you save me a dance?”

“You are getting a lot of hugs, Nate! I will miss you over the summer,” she tells him. She’ll definitely be texting him a lot. “Hmm…” She puts her forefinger to her lips as she thinks. “Two.” Double that. She’s lost count. “That is basically a compliment in Nate Mercer’s world. I can take it. Yes, I can. Come on,” She leads him to the bar and asks for two shots. 

“what, we’re not gonna hang out at all this summer?” obviously they’re going to be super far apart, so he’s mostly just kidding, but he kinda figured fallon and nur might hang out at some point and obviously he’ll be wherever fallon is. “uh huh.” nate doesn’t believe that number like at all. “i’m just not one for fancy, you know me. but it looks great.” that’s the best he can manage, but at least he tried for nur. “okay. what are we drinking to? hit me with a toast.”

“Now.. you do have a point there” she agreed. “And what a cool spy she is” Azi added and then let out a soft chuckle. 

“kind of genius if you think about it, being a hugely famous person so nobody suspects you’re a spy.”

      “  𝚒’𝚕𝚕  𝚊𝚍𝚖𝚒𝚝  𝚒𝚝’𝚜  not  something  i  considered  until  recently  ,  ”  she  admits.  fallon  was  certain  that  nate  would  say  yes  to  the  idea  .  but  she  didn’t  want  to  come  off  as  overbearing  .  “  hey  !  i  felt  like  it  was  better  to  ask  than  assume  ,  ”  she  pouts  .  “  and  for  all  i  know  ,  you  could’ve  ended  up  changing  your  mind  .  ”  or  it’s  an  issue  of  pride  but  she  opts  not  to  say  that  .  “  but  would  you  seriously  go  with  me  ?  ”

“no, it’s fine, i’m glad you asked first.” nate’s not entirely sure how he would’ve felt if she’d just gone ahead and done it, because he (rightfully) doesn’t trust himself to respond to things in an emotionally mature way. but the part of it that catches him off guard is that there’s room for any doubt in her mind that he’ll do anything but follow her until the ends of the earth. “fallon... my life has literally no direction. it’s just been me, trying to get by. i have my friends and i’d do anything for them but before you, there was... literally not a single fucking thing to live for except pride and loyalty. of course i’d go with you. anywhere. just say the word.”

      “  𝚋𝚎𝚌𝚊𝚞𝚜𝚎  𝚢𝚘𝚞’𝚛𝚎  𝚝𝚑𝚎  one  who  went  ahead  and  fell  in  love  with  me  .  ”  it’s  not  her  fault  she  can  be  charming  and  irresistible  !  she  didn’t  do  anything  .  “  he  is  a  TERRIBLE  spy  .  he  can’t  even  manage  to  keep  his  cover  or  lay  low  .  ”  he’s  a  liability  if  anything  .  “  listen  ,  i  could  be  a  villain  .  just  give  me  a  moment  so  i  can  have  a  whole  origin  story  ,  ”  she  jokes  ,  lightly  swaying  to  the  music  .  “  okay  i  think  you’re  a  little  biased  there  .  ”

“yeah, and whose fault is that?” hers, obviously. nate thinks she’s pretty irresistible, as he should, and obviously he’s just smarter than everyone for getting there first. “okay, so not james bond. what fictional spy do you want to be instead?” he can’t think of a single other one off the top of his head. “why have an origin story? why not just be a villain for fun?” that sounds more interesting to him. “that’s not bias, fallon, that’s having functioning eyes.”

        “ SHE’S A CELEBRITY JUST THE SAME. ”   cecilia is just down to ague with anything says, so she’s really not any better. at least she’ll drop the short remark, because obviously she IS shorter than him.   “ i do not, ”   she scoffs.   “ so, what are you doing, then ? ”   because she does actually want to know.

“is she though?” nate’s pretty sure beyonce is kind of in her own league but he’s mostly just being difficult, per his usual when he interacts with cecilia. “how would you know? you’re asleep while you’re snoring.” he shrugs as he leans back in his chair. “spending time with fallon, most likely. i’m just the arm candy.”

                       ❝ c’mon we’re a school , they don’t have shoot to kill orders .  but , even then i think it’s worth the kill . ❞   hearing fallon’s name sparked a new idea in her mind ,   ❝ ooo , new plan .  double team the bodyguards and you’ll both get a job with them . ❞

“you think just because it’s a school beyonce’s bodyguards would suddenly relax? please.” if anything, nate thinks this is probably the place where shoot to kill is the safest order. “this is all implying that i want to do work.”
